The Bort-les-Orgues lake is an artificial lake of 10.72 km2 and results from the creation of the Bort-les-Orgues dam on the high course of the Dordogne. It marks the point where the river enters its gorges and is the first upstream hydroelectric development on the Dordogne.The lake is 21 km long and is shared between the departments of Corrèze, Cantal and Puy-de-Dôme. Although there is no walking tour of the lake yet, a nature-sports festival takes place every year around 14 July, the Aquaterra, which includes trail and water sports.

In the early Middle Ages, Robert, founder of the Chaise-Dieu abbey, had a priory built on the right bank of the Dordogne. The abbey flourished from the 11th to the 13th century, with 16 monks. However, it was sacked around 1597 by the Huguenots. Today, all that remains of the priory is part of the surrounding wall, the large vaulted hall, the base of the keep and the chapel of the Manants. The latter was built outside the walls for the surrounding population. It served as a parish church, succeeding the church of Saint Martin further up the plateau. Every summer, the chapel hosts exhibitions and concerts.

This spacious vacation home sleeps 8, and features a terrace, 4 bedrooms (one family room with 1 bed 180 and 2 beds 90 and shower room with WC, one bedroom with 1 bed 140, one bedroom with 1 bed 180; additional bedroom on the ground floor with 1 bed 120, shower and WC), a living room with flat-screen TV, a fully-equipped kitchen with dishwasher and oven, and 3 bathrooms with shower. For your convenience, we can provide towels and linen for an additional charge. Wifi access. Pets not allowed. Weekly rentals in July and August. Minimum 2 nights the rest of the year.

Situated in Corrèze, just a few minutes from the Puy de Dôme, this ground-floor apartment in the owners' house has been converted into a pleasant gîte surrounded by a pretty flower garden. Beyond the veranda, where you can enjoy your meals, the house opens onto a well-equipped kitchen (dishwasher, oven, fridge, induction hob, small appliances...) and a small living room (wifi, TV). The sleeping area comprises a bedroom (1 bed 140, linen supplied) and an adjoining shower room (shower cubicle, WC, linen supplied), to which is added a second bedroom (2 bunk beds 90). With its painted furniture giving it a country feel, without neglecting comfort, the house is an ideal base for exploring the Millevaches plateau and the Auvergne mountains. This accommodation is not accessible to people with reduced mobility.
