Mining heritage and history. A century and a half of mining: hanging room, headframe, mining machine. Includes: Auvergne in miniature, animated reproduction with toy trains, video. Summer: velorail and little train. Exhibition
Minérail welcomes you to the Musée de la Mine de Messeix, where we present a century and a half of mining in its original context: buildings and equipment as they were when the mine closed!
The educational value of the tour is enhanced by a reduced-scale, animated reproduction of the mining complex. The whole process is visualized in a playful way, from anthracite extraction to shipping by rail, before discovering the original installations and many details about the life of the miners.
For the enjoyment of children and adults alike, you'll also have access to "L'Auvergne miniature", a reproduction of the entire region, with a multitude of little trains running around. A real treat!
The miners' train runs in summer - contact us!
