A great classic to be done or redone in all seasons, in fine weather to enjoy the exceptional panorama from the "Géant des Dômes". Depart from the "Maison de Site" and climb the goat path. The descent is by cogwheel train. Leave the old Puy-de-Dôme road at the caravan park. Follow signs for "La Font-de-l'Arbre". Difficulty: Gradual but continuous ascent from the "Chemin des Gouris" crossroads. Several variants are possible using the Muleteers' path and the Puy de Dôme tour footpath. Difficult to negotiate in winter (snow/ice); return by cogwheel train at a charge.

A long, easy walk between the wild, unspoilt plateaus of La Bade and Champ Griaud. This is where Auvergne's vineyards have survived, as evidenced by the many plots still in use and the astonishing cellar district at Châteaugay. A route that offers great views over the town and surrounding mountains. Start: Place Ballofy, Blanzat, direction "Les Mauvaises" / place du Général Charles-de-Gaulle, Châteaugay Difficulty: Ascent from Blanzat to Plateau de la Bade Suitable for all seasons. Disregard the crosses indicating the wrong direction, which are not part of the Clermont Communauté itineraries.

An unpublished journey through a parc of sculptured monuments in Volvic stone by Gilles Perez. The Fais'Art path surrounds the Puy de Beaufort, a volcanic site at an altitude of 900 m which contains the remains of a Gallic and then medieval occupation. Saint-Léger church of Montfermy contains exception murals, the most decorated part being the choir with a frieze of angelic musciens, the college of apostles and 2 naratif panels.

Accessible on foot from the car park near the bridge, the waterfall is in fact a penstock of the Sioule river, created by monks for the installation of a mill. A narrow strip of land was cut through a meander and a sluice was used to shut off the water during floods to protect the mill wheel. The surrounding area is equipped for relaxation and picnicking, and the Romanesque church is worth a visit, particularly for its exceptional mural frescoes. The Chartreuse Port-Sainte-Marie, founded in 1219, on the banks of the Sioule in a protected natural setting, is the only medieval charterhouse in Auvergne. This monastery marked the history of Combrailles for more than five centuries. Abandoned during the Revolution, one can now walk through the remains of this old charterhouse to discover the organization of a Carthusian monastery and how hermit monks lived in this community. The site is listed as a historic monument because of its archaeological potential. Guided tours are available every Thursday in summer, and on request, all year round for groups. The association of Friends of the Charterhouse ensures the protection of this site and initiates artistic, cultural and heritage activities. The Charterhouse has made its mark on economic and cultural history throughout Combrailles, and as far as Limagne, for more than five centuries. Abandoned to the Revolution, its goods were scattered, in particular, in the neighboring churches (Manzat, Pontgibaud). Today, the remains of the monument highlighted by the Friends of the Charterhouse association, allow us to understand the architectural organization of a Charterhouse. The site, the medieval layers of which remain untouched, has a major archaeological potential for understanding the Carthusian architectural evolution. The association of the Friends of the Charterhouse Port Ste Marie, has been ensuring for more than forty years the safeguard and the enhancement of the site via volunteer projects. Each year, cultural and artistic projects are undertaken, in particular with the children of the Combrailles schools who, along with local artists, create items which are installed on the site for the summer period, alongside a short story competition and an artistic competition. Visits with workshops can be offered to school or peri-educational structures. Educational tools are available on the association's website. The association's volunteers offer guided tours every Thursday and Sunday afternoon during the summer period and on request all year round for groups. These visits can be supplemented by hikes combining heritage discovery and discovery of the natural environment of the Sioule valley. During the summer period, you can explore old games, a box of books and undertake step by step watercolour painting.

Magnificent panorama of the Anschald dam, the Chaîne des Puys and the Massif du Sancy offered from the Puy de Moufle. The enamelled lava orientation table allows you to see what is in front of you. Accessible from the 'Le Puy de Moufle' hike (12km, yellow beacons) or by return from the village (departure from the church square).

The highlight point of the Combrailles. At an altitude of 977m this rock was formed by a flow of bassalt lava from a volcanic eruption. Discover geometric blocks which were formed as a result of the rapidly cooled lava. A natural viewpoint, access by foot. Part of the rock has been cut into by a quarry, but at the summit there is a picnic area. The summit has been fitted out for the safety of visitors, and an enamelled lava orientation table enables the natural elements (volcanoes, lake...) visible from this superb viewpoint to be identified.
