Description
Departing from the spa town of Royat, a short, multi-faceted day trip.
You'll discover a variety of landscapes, from the Tiretaine valley to the Royat state forest, crossing pastures and moors that stretch out at the foot of the Chaîne des Puys. Beautiful paths and views in prospect!
Departure:
- By car from Royat, in the Grotte des laveuses parking lot on the banks of the Tiretaine below Avenue de la Vallée.
- By bus from Place Allard up the Tiretaine (5mn)
- From the "Tiretaine" directional mast, take the stairs to "Puy de Chateix".
Difficulties: Long hike, but very gradual ascent.

Access to Royat by bus: "Place Allard" lines B and 5 (daily) and 26 (except Sundays); "Pépinière" line 5. By train: Royat SNCF station; trains from Clermont, La Rotonde or Durtol.
