Guidebook with maps/step-by-step

1/ From the start sign (view of Clermont-Ferrand), continue along the Chemin des Crêtes to the crossroads after the relay antenna.

2/ Continue uphill (view of Royat and puy de Gravenoire), staying on the main path overlooking the Royat valley. As you leave the wooded area (view of puy de Dôme and Pariou), stay on the left-hand side of the path until you reach the intersection with the PR puy de Montrodeix.

3/ Turn right and continue straight ahead until you reach the first houses in the hamlet of Villars. Turn right, then left at the fork, continuing on the plateau then down through the undergrowth to a T-junction. Turn right and continue to the next fork.

4/ Take the long right-hand descent through the woods back to point 1, ignoring all the side paths. Go left downhill to the starting point.

Animals

Yes. All dogs must be kept on leashes because of the presence of herds.
