This hike between ridges and valleys offers fine views over the Toulouse plain and the Lauragais farmlands, which change colour with the seasons. Discover the village of Baziège and its fertile hills shaped by the Autan wind. A stopover on the Roman road from Narbonne to Toulouse, Baziège was an important commercial centre in the Middle Ages. Its salt and wheat markets (in the 11th and 18th centuries) and then its pastel markets in the Renaissance contributed to its fortunes.

Technique against the backdrop of the Pyrenees Challenging due to its distance and technicality, this circuit will take you through our countryside where you can admire endless fields of crops with the Ariège Pyrenees as a backdrop. You will pass by charming villages such as La Bastide-de-Lordat, Le Carlaret, Les Issards and Les Pujols. This route perfectly combines physical activity with a beautiful environment. This very easy route is ideal for a short family outing or your first attempt at mountain biking. You will follow easily accessible paths that will introduce you to the crops, livestock and some of the heritage of our countryside. When you return from this route, you will undoubtedly be hooked on mountain biking and will want to tackle longer circuits without hesitation. Route: loop around La Tour-du-Crieu.

On this walk, just outside Toulouse, enjoy panoramic views of the Hers valley and the Montagne Noire from the hills of the Lauragais region of Toulouse. Montgeard was a walled village founded in 1317, in the forest of Nailloux, by the King of France Philippe V (The Long). By this act he asserted his authority in the Lauragais hills, the cradle of Catharism and the hostility of the catholic church. Today, Montgeard is a charming, little village on a hill. But it had its hour of glory in the 16th century. Indeed, in the past, wealthy merchants lived in Montgeard: from simple landowners, they had become important figures thanks to the culture of pastel, a dyeing plant with which clothes could be dyed blue. The Négra lock was one of the stops of the "Barque de Poste" which provided passenger transport between Toulouse and Agde from 1681. A must-see for your visit to Pamiers! Built in the 12th century at the foot of the now-destroyed castle, the church of St-Jean Baptiste and St-Jean l'Evangéliste, which became Notre Dame du Mercadal in the 15th century, was the town's first church, and all that remains of the 12th-century building is the Romanesque portal adorned with capitals depicting biblical scenes. In the 14th century, the Mercadal church was enlarged. The superb bell tower, inspired by the Jacobin bell tower in Toulouse, was built at this time. The Hundred Years' War, the Navarre War of Succession and local conflicts led to the looting and destruction of the cathedral. Reconstruction work began around 1662, but was halted due to a lack of funds. It resumed in 1685. The church was consecrated on 9 January 1689. The single nave building is simple and majestic. The interior woodwork, paintings and silverware give it a prestigious character. In 1777, the church was fitted with a large organ from the Daurade church in Toulouse, housed in a remarkable 18th-century case that has been listed as a Monument Historique. Major work was carried out on the bell tower and roof between 1833 and 1875. Saint-Antonin Cathedral was listed as a Historic Monument on 9 August 1906.

The washhouses, planned from the beginning, were severely regulated. Beware of anyone who came to wash their clothes without being authorized to do so! As for thefts of linen, they were punished by imprisonment. This covered wash-house is the oldest, with a bench and a fireplace to heat water.
