Description

Here, more than anywhere else, the land undulates as if lifted by a swell triggered by the Autan wind. On this walk, just outside Toulouse, enjoy panoramic views of the Hers valley and the Montagne Noire from the hills of the Lauragais region of Toulouse.

Along the way you'll discover :
In Montgiscard: the 20th-century postcard-style Grand'Rue, Saint-André church (1541)
In Donneville: Saint-Pierre church (1484) with its bell tower and wall, the 19th-century Chapillonie fountain
In Deyme: the church of Sainte-Marie Madeleine (12th and 16th centuries), the shaded Alex Ouillac square with its plane trees, arbour and picnic tables.
In Montbrun-Lauragais: the 1680 mill, the 19th-century church of Saint-Michel and several viewpoints.

Beware of several road crossings, including the D24 (twice) and slippery terrain in wet weather.

Detailed stages

- From the totem pole, cross the Place du Foirail, turn left and then right. After the town hall, turn left into the rue de la Place and drive through the village. Opposite the Château de Bruxelles, take the path on the left and follow it from post to post.
2 - At the "Bruxelles" sign, turn right, cross the D24 (be careful!) and go left for 20m. Take the path on the right as far as a bridge.
3 - At the "5 Carrières" post, walk along the stream, cross the footbridge and continue to a road. Keep to the right as far as the entrance to a housing estate. Cross the road (take care!) and continue along the pavement as far as the roundabout. Go straight up. At the top, turn right. At the town hall, turn left. Go up the hill and turn left at the top.
4 - Turn right at the "L'Orfèvre" sign. At a farm, go down to the left and back up to Deyme. Go right, turn left to go alongside the church, and continue to turn right onto the Chemin de Saint-Ignace. Cross a road (be careful!) and go straight on until you come to a barrier. Keep right until you reach a field, then turn left and head up towards the Patras farm. Go around it to the right and continue along the road until you reach a crossroads.
5 - Turn right at the "Patras" signpost, go as far as a crossroads and then right as far as the "L'Oustalou" signpost. Return journey (2 km, 91m d+) to the restored 17th-century Montbrun-Lauragais mill.
6 - Continue along the road. At the "La Ginestière" sign, cross the ditch to the left and continue along a footpath, then a small road. At the crossroads, go straight ahead on a track leading after two bends to the "5 Carrières" signpost. 10m before the post, turn right onto a track. Cross the D24 (take care!). Continue straight ahead until you come to a road, which you should turn right onto; when it turns left, continue straight ahead along a track.
7 - At the "Pinatel" signpost, continue as far as the Pinatel road. Leave it on the right and go straight ahead. Descend to the bottom of the valley and climb up to the "Bruxelles" signpost.
8 - Return to the starting point via the outward route.
