An easy hike, ideal for hot days, the path is shady the most time. From the departure point possibility to follow for 2 km the Peatlog of Vergnes des Mazes with information display boards (in French language). D – DEPART: From LIEUTADES take the car for 4 km in the direction of LACALM. Big parking at your right. Take the path, which goes to your left into a beech wood. Follow it for 2 km. 1 - At the end of the wood take the path at right until the village BURGUERETTES. 2 - In BURGUERETTES take left into the village. Typical architecture and old farmhouses, beautiful view on the volcano massif. Go back and follow the asphalt road to LES MAZES. To see: beside the road a memorial cross, called “Cross of the soldier”. 3 - In LES MAZES in front of a big farm house turn at right. The path crosses the wood and takes you to the departure point. Mountainbike: Easy level, no difficulties, very pleasant circuit.

In the 13th century Lagarde was Commandery of Knights templar. The little chapel in this village is the last remnant of this once important property. The castle of LA BORIE is a good example of military architecture of 15th century. It is private property and can not be visited. Panoramic view to the Tailladès valleys and the Truyère river.

A long hike with a long descent and long steep climb. Recommended only for expererienced hikers. Beautiful view on the Truyère valley and the volcano massif. The "Roc des Pas" is a big rock which shows curious traces which seems to be foot-and handprints. Their origin is not known. D - Depart Lieutadès in front of the former hotel. Take the road to LA SAUVETAT until VAISSIERES HAUTES (or make the first part of the hike "La Sauvetat". 1 - Cross the village. After the village take a path at left which follows the hedges. After 700 m take the path to the right. 2 - In LA SAUVETAT follow an asphalt road at left, cross the village and take the path which passes in front of the last house. Follow the fence and the large path between two ash hedges. 3 - At the intersection go straight on until a flat site where you follow the fence into the wood. Then follow the path and exceed the fence. The path leads you along an embankment to the "Roc des Pas". At point 3 follow a path at right into the valley which joins another path. Take the second path and go until POUJET. 4 -Cross the D 65 and take the path at right of a house to reach the D 11. Follow the road for 500 m. Take the path to ESTOURNIES and cross the village. The path joins a second time the D 11. Turn at right. 5 - Follow the asphalt road, cross the bridge and take at the next turn a steep path into the wood. Follow it until LA BORIE. 6 - Cross LA BORIE and take at the end of the village a path to your right which follows a stone wall. Take it and go back to LIEUTADES.

After 250 m take a stony path which climbs between the pastures. 1 - At the crossroad with the road to LES VAYSSIERES HAUTE go straight on until LA SAUVETAT. There take the asphalt road into the village. 2 - At the end of the village panorama to the Cantal mountains. Go back into the village and turn at the main crossroad to your left into a path, which passes some houses. At the next intersection, continue at left in the direction of LES VAYSSIERES HAUTES. At the road, continue already 200 m at right. 3 - In VAYSSIERES HAUTES leave the asphalt road and take a path to your right. It will lead you between ash and oak trees until ESPEYRAC. To see: a typical farmhouse with fountain, livestock drinking and bakehouse. 4 - Take the road back to LIEUTADES. Mountainbike: Good sporting level. Climb between Depart and 1 on a very stony path. Mountain bike route "From Montsalvy to the Goul Valley”. Starting near the castle built on the ancient ramparts of the medieval village, this itinerary offers the opportunity to discover Montsalvy. This is an accessible and fairly easy route which offers beautiful panoramas, in particular that of the Puy de l'Arbre, which dominates this area from the top of its 830 m. This route will then offer mountain bikers beautiful views of the mountains and valleys, with several forest passages punctuating the route.

Situated at an altitude of 610m, overlooking the Goul valley, for almost 50 years Leucamp lived to the rhythm of mining. Ladinhac offers a hiking circuit where the harmony of the landscapes and the quality of the built heritage work wonders. The village counts for its attractions among the "Small cities of character". The ubiquitous granite frame marries wonderfully with the natural setting of the high plateau of the Aubrac that welcomes it. Saint-Urcize stands at an altitude of 1000 m on a basalt rock dominating the valleys of the Hère and the Bes, on the plateau of Aubrac. The old houses, narrow alleys, small squares embellished with fountains, the remains of fortification and the ruins of the ancient fort give to the city its medieval character and attest to its ancient origin. The roofs of grey slates and shales merge with the remarkable 12th century Romanesque church whose comb bell tower dominates the city. Its small bell dating from 1583 would be one of the oldest in France, and its ambulatory guarantees that the city was in the Middle Ages a stage of the pilgrimage of Santiago de Compostela.

Christianised menhir Big christianized menhir already on the Plateau of Aubrac in the commune of Lieutadès between Burguerette and Les Mazes. It is on the left side of the road coming from the direction of Lieutadès and dominates the landscape. Beautiful view on the Monts du Cantal. It is listed on the French megaliths list. It is not the only megalith in this region, the Planèze of Saint-Flour counts more than 10 accessible megaliths. Next to the road to Chaudes-Aigues there is also a tumulus.

Lapeyrugue is located South East of the Veinazès natural region, on the foothills of the Southern Châtaigneraie. The village is built on a crest and at the beginning of a path leading to the Goul valley overhanging it.

Situated in the north of the Aveyron, 10 km from the famous village of Conques, Château de Sénergues has only been open to the public since 2023. The family who have owned it for 7 centuries welcome you on certain days to visit the 24-metre-high keep and its beautiful interior rooms, and enjoy the magnificent 360-degree view. You need to be in good physical condition to visit the keep, and the visit is not recommended for people suffering from claustrophobia or extreme vertigo. The tour is open to children aged 10 and over.

In the square, note the wrought-iron cross depicting the various instruments of the Passion. Although the date inscribed on the granite base is 1800, the cross was actually made in 1750 and hidden during the revolutionary turmoil. It was made by Jean de Séguy, provost from 1745 to 1776. The statue of the Virgin Mary in a red sandstone niche (probably reused) on the façade, rebuilt in the 18th century, is a reminder that the church is dedicated to Notre-Dame de l'Assomption. However, the cult of St Bernard, the monastery's first abbot, quickly developed in the hearts of the first Montsalvy residents. This popular beatification, accepted by the ecclesiastical authorities, led to the dedication of a chapel in the church in 1258. St Bernard is therefore considered the patron saint of the parish (celebrated on the Sunday following 11 October). In the church, discover the exceptional polychrome wooden Christ, listed as a historic monument, the 20th-century ciborium (or baldachin) installed in the Romanesque choir, the shrines containing the relics of St Gausbert and Saint Bernard and two of the four boundary crosses: the cross of St Anne and the cross of Cambon. An adjoining vaulted room houses the Treasure of Sacred Art, a collection of priestly objects from the various churches of the St Joseph en Veinazès parish.

A medieval town founded in the 11th century by the monk Gausbert, who established a sauveté surrounded by 4 crosses, which guaranteed ecclesiastical immunity to those who took refuge there. Montsalvy, a Petite Cité de Caractère® almost a thousand years old, has retained the austere atmosphere of those ancient fortified villages, huddled in on themselves and still imbued with their medieval splendour.

Overlooking the village of Montsalvy, Mount Puy de l'Arbre offers a magnificent natural observatory stretching from the Mounts of Cantal to the Rouergue, passing through the Aubrac Plateau. Near the toposcope, a granite stele reminds us that in 1798, Jean-Baptiste Delambre and Pierre Méchain measured here an arc section of the Paris meridian between Dunkirk and Barcelona. This arc measurement served as the basis for the original definition of the metre. This stele is therefore a survey marker. Picnic tables.

L’Auberge Fleurie is a charming Cantal stopover in the area of the River Lot and the River Truyère, at an altitude of 800 m. A good fairy seems to have bent over this inn, which offers an enthusiastic table where terroir and modernity go hand in hand! The inn also has a remarkable wine cellar.
