The Tarn flows quietly between its clay banks. Brick colours the architecture of Rabastens. In the hills, the ploughing perpetuates the range of colours. Presence of bricks : In the Tarn plain, clay is everywhere. It is difficult to get out of it on wet days! But the clay smiles when it becomes a brick, when it becomes unique. Not by the quantity, it abounds! But by the fruit of the metamorphosis which allows it to be dressed in subtle colours for the best of regional architecture. Pink Toulouse but red Rabastens, Gaillac and Albi. Finally, red... Red spangled with a thousand white particles, faded red, dark red, loyal red... As an accomplice of the architectural imagination, brick knows how to be simple for the suburbs, refined for the private mansions of Castres and Albi. Nowadays, it has other attractions: healthiness and thermal capacity in particular.

The Church of Saint-Martin de Mours, like a beacon, dominates the landscape and guides the walker, who will discover superb panoramic views of the Tarn valley and the Rabastin area along the way. In the Middle Ages, the church of Saint-Martin de Mours (known as d'amour) stood on a feudal mound. Attested as early as 1229, it was completely rebuilt in the 19th century and its history is closely linked to that of the people of this commune, like these two very pretty statues bought by the inhabitants after the First World War. One of the Virgin Mary, bought by the young women, and one of St Martin,bought by the young men. Today, a conservation association keeps the church in good repair, as is the case with many of these rural buildings that enrich the walker's route. Along the way, you'll discover a small winegrowing heritage (vineyard sheds, dovecotes).

The trail leaves the town of Rabastens to venture up the hillsides among the vines. Remains of the past, typical Gaillac dovecote... Magnificent view of the Salvagnac hillsides.

THE TRAIL STEP BY STEP Departure and parking: stadium car park 1. Turn left out of the car park and go up Rue du Stade to Rue Jean Jaurès. Cross opposite and take Rue de l'Eglise. 2. Turn right in front of the church and take the chemin de Galineste on the left (in the wrong direction). Continue through the Cité Bellevue, always straight ahead. 3. After 280m continue straight on, on a non-passable path, follow 300. Turn left and climb the Côte de Dardé. 4. At the next intersection, turn left onto Chemin de la Serre and follow it for 1.2 km. 5. At the intersection with Chemin de Saulet, turn right then left, continuing to descend. Turn right then left, continuing to descend. Turn right into rue Joliot Curie, then right into rue du 8 mai 1945. In the main street, turn left, pass the town hall and turn right to reach the car park. This path takes part of the educational path of Corbarieu. You will get to know the local fauna and flora there. The route will take you to the valley of Guitardio, a haven of freshness during hot summer days. THE TRAIL STEP BY STEP Departure and parking: stadium car park 1. Turn left out of the car park and go up Rue du Stade to Rue Jean Jaurès. Cross opposite and take Rue de l'Eglise. 2. Turn right in front of the church and take the chemin de Galineste on the left (in the wrong direction). Continue through the Cité Bellevue, always straight ahead. After 280m continue straight, by a non-motorable road to follow for 300. Take the Côte de Dardé uphill. Turn right into Chemin de la Serre for 490m. 3. Leave the road by taking the chemin de Roquenol on the left. Descend into the undergrowth in the valley of the Guitardio stream that a footbridge overlooks. Go up the stairs and turn left on the Chemin de Morève, which must be followed to the Route du Fau. 4. Go down this on the left, then take the first on the left: Chemin de Cheminat. Continue straight on rue Joliot Curie, then right on rue du 8 mai 1945. In the main street, turn left, pass in front of the town hall and turn right to return to the car park. Consecrated in 1096, the basilica is a masterpiece of Romanesque art. The tympanum of the Miegeville door, sculpted capitals, the altar table or bas reliefs (above the crypt) marked and influenced art in Europe. The church is the largest monument of Romanesque origin remaining in the world. World Heritage of UNESCO as monument on the way to Compostela, the church with the relics of St. Sernin and many other relics (it was written that there was no holier place in the world after St. Peter Rome) attracted many pilgrims.

Close to the city and at the confluence of Ariege and Garonne, the banks of the river remain wild. The Confluence park can be reached with pontoon. At the XIV century, there was a bridge. At the XIX century, a new bridge (the remains can be seen near the pontoon) was built but immediatly destroyed by flood.

At the junction of Louge and Garonne river, Muret with the belltower of Saint-James church. Ahead of it, the round tower of the townhall is at the place where was the castle of Comminges counts.

At the XII century, the powerfull Lezat abbey had there a house, built outside the city, for lepers and plague victims. The hospital runned until XVII century. The ruins of Saint-Marcet chapel are also named the "wall of the lepers".

Saint James is the patron saint due to the link of the church with Toulouse cathedral which had both saint James and saint Etienne as patrons.

A choice of regional wines and drinks, a selection of beers, ice creams, coffees and teas from all over the world, cocktails with or without alcohol as well as gourmet suggestions are available.
