Leaving from Saint-Marcel-Bel-Accueil, this loop takes you to the heights of the village for an immersive journey through nature and history. After a straightforward climb, the walk alternates between shaded and open areas, offering magnificent views of the local heritage and the Alps, which can be appreciated all the more from the orientation table set up along the way. The last part of the walk takes you through the village and its traditional houses, whose golden hues add a touch of charm to this escapade.

In the south-west of the Balcons du Dauphiné, between hills and ponds, Panossas stands out for its beautiful red hues, a phenomenon that can be explained by the rich iron content of the limestone, which is found in the various architectural features. The village then gives way to a variety of landscapes, from undergrowth to panoramic views over the Isle-Crémieu, as you make your way along this hilly walking route.

This partly shaded loop, starting from Saint-Hilaire-de-Brens, offers magnificent panoramic views over the Lac de Moras (private). You'll also discover a wealth of architectural features along the way, including châteaux and small water-related buildings (wash-houses, fountains, wells).

Along the paths, most of which are shaded, you can see castles, chapels, mills and wash-houses, as well as ponds and areas of dry grassland at Les Communaux de Trept, an ENS site where more than 500 animal species have been recorded.

Starting from Crémieu, a medieval town, this nature walk – which takes place largely through woodland – offers a refreshing escape in summer when the heat is at its peak, or in spring, when you can enjoy the carpets of wildflowers lining the pond and clearings. This circuit will delight the amateurs of elevation gain. Technical and pleasant loop with many passages in undergrowth on paths, views on the Vercors, the Chartreuse and the Mont-Blanc. From the Champ de Mars car park in Cessieu, follow the yellow marks and the following crossroads: Champ Robert > Les communaux > Les Guerres > Le Calvaire > Notre-Dame de Bonne Conduite > Le Gayet > Bonnard > L'Enfer > Le Grand Poste > Tire-Gerbe > Rochetoirin > Laï > Le Puy > Montbertaud > La Croix de Fer > CESSIEU The circuit starts with a beautiful ascent in undergrowth with views of the Vercors, the Chartreuse and the Mont-Blanc. Many forests to cross as well as ponds mark out the loop. Take a break to admire the landscape at the orientation tables of Rochetoirin (to the left of the church) and of the Chapelle St-Joseph (on the heights of Cessieu). As far as heritage is concerned, you will pass by the castle of Montceau and the Chapels St-Joseph and Notre-Dame de la Salette (Cessieu).

This short and shaded loop invites you to contemplate the chapels Notre-Dame de Salette and St-Joseph as well as the beautiful panorama located at the second one. ROUTE From the Champ de Mars, you will reach the church of Cessieu. Step inside to admire the murals by Dutch artist Cor van Gelenken. Just behind the church stands the round clock tower. It is said to have played a protective role in medieval times. Follow the path up into the forest. After 400m, you'll see the Notre-Dame de Salette chapel on your left. Continue uphill to the St-Joseph chapel. Freshly restored, it overlooks the Bourbre valley. From the viewpoint indicator behind the chapel, you can contemplate the Monts du Lyonnais, the Vercors and the Chartreuse. After Croix de Fer, you pass through a number of hamlets and the Cessieu woods. The profile descends to Les Guerres and climbs back up to Les Communaux. The hike ends downhill on a small road lined with hedgerows. This loop invites you to discover the natural treasures of Eyzin-Pinet, walking through its hillsides where orchids abound, and to explore its historical heritage with the Pinet tower, a remnant of a 12th-century castle. Duration: approximately 1 hour 45 minutes. Distance: 5.7 km (short loop option) Points of interest: Tour de Pinet, Blaches national forest, Combe de Vaux, art brut wall. DETAILED ITINERARY: 1 - START - Walk alongside the tennis courts along a path leading up to the ‘Le Salin’ signpost. - Turn right and continue to the ‘Chez David’ signpost. 2 - CLIMB INTO THE FOREST - Turn left and climb the hill via a track entering the Blaches national forest. - At the intersection with a forest path, turn right until you reach the D538 at the L'étang des Blaches signpost. - Turn right, then immediately left onto the road towards Montseveroux. 3 - POND AND DIRECTION OF PINET - Take the wide track on the left that runs alongside a private pond. - Pass the Les Blaches signpost and continue straight ahead. - At the second signpost, turn left towards Pinet. - After crossing the road twice, you will reach the Tour de Pinet signpost. Short loop alternative: descend to the foot of the tower, continue to the hamlet of Pinet, then turn left onto a track to return to the Le Salin signpost. 4 - CRÊTES AND COMBE DE VAUX - Turn right to the Les Crêtes signpost, then turn left onto a stony path descending the hillside. - Join a road, turn right to the end, then continue on a wide path through the woods. - Continue along the hillside, on the edge of the Combe de Vaux (Sensitive Natural Area), until you reach a partially tarmac track and a hamlet. - Climb up to the Le Paviot signpost. 5 - TOWARDS EYZIN-PINET - Descend to the D41 at the Thibaud signpost, turn right and, just after a bridge, take a left onto a farm track leading to the Gère stream. - Ford the stream and continue straight ahead to reach the hillside, then follow the road to the left. 6 - TRAILS AND HAMLETS - After passing the houses, follow the trail along the ridges, descend onto a road crossing a hamlet, then take a wide grassy path on the right at the dead end until you reach the La Garde signpost. 7 - RETURN TO EYZIN-PINET - Turn left, cross a road, then continue along a wide stony path. Walk alongside a poplar grove and cross the Gère again, joining a road on the hillside. 8 - FINAL CLIMB - Take the path opposite which climbs up to a road, follow this road to the right until you reach an intersection. - Climb up the Chemin du Colas, pass the houses, then turn left onto a path through a meadow. - Go around an isolated building on the right to reach the Chez David signpost. - Then return to the starting point via the same route. ADVICE: - Take care when crossing busy roads. - Respect crops and private property. The dwelling is made of limestone rubble and has a rectangular plan. The upper floors are served by two spiral stair towers, one circular, engaged in the west facade of the building and the other polygonal, projecting more sharply on the east facade.

Home for a large biodiversity; the Charamel Sensitive Natural Space is located between Frontonas and Panossas. The pond and peatland are an oasis for threatened species of flora and fauna. The large circling reed bed hosts an excpetional variety of birds : acrocephalus, reed sparrow, purple herons, little bittern... Aside from the peatland, great sand meadows are a biotope for many species : European Pond Turtle, European bee-eaters... By taking the communal paths; you might explore and observe this mosaic of natural habitats, in one of the most diversified natural site of the region.

The vegetation around the lake is an ideal refuge for many birds such as the Grebe and Marsh warbler, while the hillsides, hunting area of the red-backed shrike, are covered with orchids in the spring. The site also houses a large population of European pond turtles, an endangered specie in France, which feed and winter in the pond and lay their eggs on the dry grasslands.

The castle displays the power of the 24 families that have owned it for the past 800 years. For the last 250 years it has belonged to the same family. Septème provides a warm welcome to children and adults alike. The name Septème recalls the presence in Roman times of a military milestone at mile seven (septem in Latin) on the road from Vienne to northern Italy. A the top of the hill are the ruins of the old castle (10th century). In the 13th century, the House of Savoy created a powerful base for operations against the Dauphin and set up an impressive stronghold with over 1 km of ramparts. Today the castle is famous for its impressive ramparts surrounding a park where peacocks roam free. The castle rooms are also exceptionally well preserved and are a chance for visitors to imagine life in the Middle Ages, thanks to the fine collections of furniture and ornamental objects.

Cows, goats and sheep used this common lands until the 1960s. Then cereal crops were planted in the most fertile areas. Scrubland and woods took over the other areas, which were stony and steep. Nowadays, the Pulsatilles trail reveals a typical landscape where the limestone slabs cover the surface around the Stone of God and the Devil, standing like strange sentinels, vestiges of the ice age. Berry shrubs and flora adapted to a thin layer of arid soil flourish there. In the spring, walkers might come across lizards, grasshoppers and butterflies, and see the first lily of the valley, grasses, orchids, ferns, spurge and, of course, the site's emblem, the red pasqueflower, a rare and protected wild anemone with a beautiful dark garnet colour. Working together for biodiversity: IThe involvement of local people allowed the biodiversity to return! This 100ha Sensitive Natural Area, at the west of the village, is managed by politics with hunters (warrens building, trails maintenance), naturalists from the ADPE professional training organisation and Lo Parvi (scientific monitoring, educational events), farmers (grazing, controlling shrubs), quarrymen, neighbours, and, of course, hikers.

At the entrance to Crémieu, as you leave the picturesque Gorges de la Fusa, picnic tables are provided for lunch in the shade.
