This cycling itinerary allows you to go from Cierp-Gaud, in the foothills of the Pyrenees mountains, to Carbonne, by following the Garonne River. It's in the Comminges, former Gascony province where the Garonne grows bigger. From being simply a fast stream in the Pyrenees to becoming a branch river and finally a major waterway... Several access points are possible all along this itinerary. Don't miss stopping along the way to see picturesque villages such as Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges, Saint-Gaudens or even Saint-Martory.

Its salt and wheat markets (in the 11th and 18th centuries) and then its pastel markets in the Renaissance contributed to its fortunes.

From the Lauragais plain and the banks of the Canal du Midi, escape to the hillsides of south-east Toulouse to discover the Voie d'Arles-GR653. Along the way, you'll come across panoramic views of the Pyrenees, between ridges and valleys, and local producers in the surrounding area. Follow the red and white GR653 markings all the way along. This castle witnesses the regional history of Toulouse; Indeed it represents the passage between the individualistic architectural currents of the Hundred Years War and the emergence of the French Renaissance, thus transforming a stronghold into a habitable place. The current version of the château has a rectangular floor plan with 4 round towers at the corners, and has all the features of a 14th-century medieval château that was modified during the French Renaissance. In the early 19th century, the castle was completely restored by its owners.

Truly a rural heritage in all of its diversity, this museum interests the young as much as older generations who are interested in going back into their past. Bricks and cobblestone act as a backdrop for more than 5000 articles, some quite rare, concerning the daily life during the 18th and 19th Centuries as well as the beginning of the 20th Century. During your tour you will be able to discover the tools which were used in the past by carpenters, clog-makers, blacksmiths, farmers, grinders, shoe-makers, clock-makers...

The Artist and his approach... Laurent Lafontas did his postgraduate studies in Plastic Arts at the University of Toulouse. He has explored various topics and materials: drawing, modeling, sculpture, video and animated film. After a period of figuration in the study of the body and facial expressions like an architect of the human soul, he now juggles with abstraction, geometry and the organic, questioning dynamism, innovation and sustainability. He is also environmentally conscious and ethically oriented, assembling different metals together and using recycled materials, those being the starting point of his creations.

The chef, Christian Lagarde, represents the 5th generation of the family. Its specialties are dishes in sauce and local products: civets, cassoulets, navarins ... The range of the menu is extended, prices range from 12 euros to 34 euros or more. Reservation recommended on weekends and evenings. Adjoining the owner's private residence, where 2 guest rooms are located, the gîte is 70m2 in size and comprises, on the ground floor: an entrance hall with office space for teleworking, a living room with sitting area, dining area and kitchen, a bedroom (1 double bed 160*200cm with desk) and a shower room with shower and WC. A steep staircase leads to a bedroom (1 double bed 140*190cm and 2 single beds 90*190cm, reversible air conditioning) and a WC with washbasin. Electric heating. Washing machine shared with the owner. Hikers' package: the owner can come and pick you up in Montaut, offer you overnight accommodation and breakfast as well as a fitness massage.
