Tamniès, a picturesque village camped on a rocky promontory overlooking the valley of the Grande Beune valley. For the last 15 years, it has been awarded first place in the departmental flowery village of less than 500 inhabitants. On the way, follow the Gargagnasse, a strange creature, which will guide you to the hamlet of Castanet, with its ochre-coloured limestone houses, sometimes with lauze roofs. Then discover the Valley of the Beune by a shaded path punctuated by old mills and endowed with a large sampling of huts, fountains and wash houses lovingly restored by the inhabitants and a varied natural wealth.

By walking this loop, you will discover the historical and natural heritage of Tamniès, Marcillac-Saint-Marcillac and Campagnac, without forgetting the viewpoint of Tamniès by following the extension of the route.

All along the route, you will be able to admire the viewpoints over the Dordogne Valley and discover the churches and the castle of the villages you pass through. You can also eat at a picnic area or in one of the restaurants in the villages.

You will enjoy magnificent views of the Manoir de l'Air (18th century) and that of Costeperrier, the Valojoulx fish reserve with the forest as a backdrop.

At the beginning of the hike, you will cross a pleasant undergrowth with the small pond of the village of Molière (buildings of the 16th century). You will continue through fields, forests and valleys, the dry stone huts, the Manors of Air, Molière and Auxerre.

While riding this mountain bike circuit, you will discover the richness of the four villages of Marquay, Tamniès, Marcillac and Marcillac-Saint-Quentin, and admire the view at Tamniès, a village perched on its plateau.

On this hike, you'll discover a hilly, wooded area dotted with hamlets that bear witness to a rich farming history. The forest of oak, hornbeam and chestnut offers a rich palette of colors. Here and there, patches of meadows add to this mosaic.

The loop of the village of Saint-Geniès allows you to discover interesting points of view on this typical village of the Périgord Noir. Don't miss the visit of the church, and if you are lucky, of the chapel of Cheylard, a small marvel, whose paintings have been recently restored. Tamniès is a picturesque village in the Black Perigord, located between Sarlat, Montignac (Lascaux caves) and Les Eyzies (world capital of Prehistory). Housed on a rock, the village of Tamniès dominates the Beune valley. Formerly used as a watchtower, in the centre of the village is the old church dating from the 13th century Outside the village, the commune of Tamniès has a very rich architectural heritage composed of bories and other typical constructions of the Black Perigord, in particular the church of the old priory with its roof of lauzes, registered in the inventory of the Historical Monuments. In the centre of the square, there is a hollow tree which dates back more than two centuries. It is the Tree of Liberty, which was planted on 14 July 1790 in every commune in France to celebrate the first anniversary of the French Revolution.

Marcillac-Saint-Quentin is a commune located on the "Sarlat/Montignac" axis. This axis makes it possible to take advantage of the economic activity with the creation of the locality known as Borne 120. The development of this activity zone allows new businesses to be set up on more than 3 hectares. In 1827, the communes of Marcillac and Saint-Quentin merged under the name Marcillac-Saint-Quentin. This village belongs to the canton of Sarlat-la Canéda. For several years the commune has been experiencing a strong demographic increase. The main economic poles are linked to agricultural, tourist and craft activities. The Romanesque church of Marcillac opens its doors every year for an exhibition of paintings, its architecture is admired by those who discover it. In the heart of the Périgord Noir, 2 km from the centre of La Chapelle-Aubareil, the ducks are raised in the open air and then force-fed with whole grains of corn. La Chapelle Aubareil is a charming village situated between Montignac-Lascaux and Saint Léon sur Vézère, at an altitude of 260 m. The village is dominated by a tower, a vestige of a medieval castle about which little is known other than that the land and the lordship of La Chapelle Aubareil were acquired on 15 February 1698 by the Lord of Pelvézy. A document shows that at that time, the castle was already in a serious state of disrepair. The dismantling of the castle must have made it possible to build the houses in the village: the corner ties, lintels and dressed stone, the arrow slits, the mullioned windows, etc. bear witness to this. Walk through the village, with its spaces reconfigured in 2005,and discover these features along with a cross featuring Christ, a vestige of the old cemetery and the village church.
