A family trail in the heart of the Chaîne des Puys between woods and pastures, with a vast view of Clermont, Limagne and the Monts du Forez from the Ternant cross. As an added bonus, for the more courageous, we recommend an off-tour to the Sarcoui cave and the puy des Goules. Departure point: Parking des Goules, direction "Monlachat". Difficulty: Very easy; steeper climb for the off-route to grotte du Sarcoui and puy des Goules. Snowshoeing possible in snowy weather.

A great classic to be done or redone in all seasons, in fine weather to enjoy the exceptional panorama from the "Géant des Dômes". Depart from the "Maison de Site" and climb the goat path. The descent is by cogwheel train. Leave the old Puy-de-Dôme road at the caravan park. Follow signs for "La Font-de-l'Arbre". Difficulty: Gradual but continuous ascent from the "Chemin des Gouris" crossroads. Several variants are possible using the Muleteers' path and the Puy de Dôme tour footpath. Difficult to negotiate in winter (snow/ice); return by cogwheel train at a charge.

An educational trail runs all the way around the pond. Leaving the pond, after passing through a wood, you follow a small path lined with drystone walls, in the midst of nature once again in its wild state. All along the way, you can admire century-old oak and beech trees, as well as beautiful views over the Cher valley and Dontreix...

Start : Courdemanges Marking : Yellow 1. Head for Dontreix, turn right at the 1st crossroads, then take the 1st path on the right. 2. When you reach the road, turn right towards Courdemanges. 3. At the 1st crossroads, turn right through the village to the well, turn left and then immediately right. 4.Before reaching Valette, turn right towards the Drouille forest. 5.Continue straight ahead through the woods until you come to a path on the right which leads to the forest track. 6.Follow the track to the right to reach the starting point.

Saint-Léger church of Montfermy contains exception murals, the most decorated part being the choir with a frieze of angelic musciens, the college of apostles and 2 naratif panels.

Accessible on foot from the car park near the bridge, the waterfall is in fact a penstock of the Sioule river, created by monks for the installation of a mill. A narrow strip of land was cut through a meander and a sluice was used to shut off the water during floods to protect the mill wheel. The surrounding area is equipped for relaxation and picnicking, and the Romanesque church is worth a visit, particularly for its exceptional mural frescoes. A family walk allows you to discover this picturesque village in a preserved natural setting. This small church, situated on a promontory, has a chevet characteristic of the Auvergne Romanesque. Adjacent to the church, the "snail shell" cemetery, at the top of the hillock, is an original feature of this site. It was built in 1147. Behind the church, one can still see the ruins of the castle (12th-13th century). Guillaume de Beaufort donated his right of sacristy on this church to the cathedral chapter of Clermont-Ferrand when he left for the crusades. This building presents a certain homogeneity of architecture although it was built in several stages. Have a great time relaxing in the charming village of Miremont. Located near a small river, this village offers a relaxing setting. Visit possible (from May 1st to October 31st) to the Return to the Past museum.

The château-fort and its six towers, remains of the 12th-15th century walls, overlook a rare sunken kitchen garden (listed as a World Heritage site), created in the 16th century, and a landscaped garden at the foot of lava flows. The outbuildings (listed building) house the silver mining museum. The garden ticket price includes a free tour of the kitchen garden described by Montaigne, the landscaped gardens and the Chevalier tower, which gives you an overview of the estate. You can also walk around the battlements that mark the boundaries of the park and woodland, and visit the outbuildings with their tack room, stables and horse-drawn carriages. The price of the château-garden ticket includes a guided tour of the château and garden, and contributes to the upkeep of the monument by funding major works. The château will be listed by the Fondation du Patrimoine in September 2023 (Mission Bern).

Not to be missed in the church. The monumental replicated organ of Arnstadt on which J S Bach played. Inaugaurated in 2004, visits are held in the summer and during the internationally renowned festival 'Bach in Combrailles' held in the second week of August. The church dates back to the 19th century. It owes its fame to "The Bach Organ", a replica of the organ in Arnstadt in Thuringia (Germany), one of the few Baroque organs of which Bach was the first owner at the age of 18. Inaugurated in 2004, tours of the organ are organised in July and August. The "Bach in Combrailles" Festival (second week of August) is an opportunity to introduce the music of Bach to the inhabitants of Combrailles and to visitors. In the grounds of the Dauphin Castle, an exhibition (documents, tools, models and crystals.....) relating to the extraction of lead silver. History, images and the reconstruction of a mine, history miners of Cornwalls. You can combine a visit to the museum with a guided tour of the Dauphin castle and its garden.
