Land-art trail Les Balcons de l'Aigoual

Immerse yourself in art and nature at Aigoual! This circuit reveals regularly renewed installations inspired by nature and the landscapes of Mont-Aigoual. A total of 12 works installed on an 8km loop. Les Balcons de l'Aigoual" land-art trail Here, artists portray the human/nature relationship and confront the climatic phenomena of the Aigoual. The works are therefore constantly evolving. Art inserted into nature returns to an essential source of artistic creation: observation and inspiration by nature. This itinerary allows visitors to cross different atmospheres and places, suggesting a sensitive and intimate approach to nature. Edition 2024: three new works on the trail: "Folies" by Elodie Cabos, "Rideau de pluie" by Yoann Crépin and "Regards" by Matthew Burton. Departure: Prat-Peyrot parking lot, Alti Aigoual station Duration: 2h30 Length: 8km Difficulty: easy Mountain bike access: possible Disabled access: possible on the ascent from Prat-Peyrot to Mont-Aigoual. The descent is on the GR6, access to which is limited to walkers. Elevation gain: 217m. Markings: a black circle and arrow on a yellow background. Access forbidden on the discovery path when snow-covered. Pets must be kept on a leash. The Aigoual summit walk extends to the Hort de Dieu arboretum, with the work of "France-Lan Lê Vu": "Avec mes yeux" ("With my eyes"). to Trèves, Lanuéjols and Saumane, communes which also feature emblematic Cévennes landscapes. These works are all accessible by footpaths or beautiful cycling routes. "Les Balcons de l'Aigoual à Trèves": two works are on offer in the pretty village of Trèves, on the banks of the Trèvezel river: "Ondulations" by Céline Pialot and "Mirage, entre chien et loup" by Sandrine Le Maguer; "Onde" by Jeanne Bourrat in Lanuéjols and "Refuges" by Steven Onghena in Saumane. At the Col de Prat-Peyrot, multi-activities all year round: hiking, horse-drawn carriage rides, electric-assisted mountain biking, horse-riding, accrofilet. Winter season - altitude 1440 m: 13-hectare ski area. Exposures: northwest and south. (Beginners not permitted). - Nordic skiing: 50 km of marked and groomed trails. More than 50 kilometers of cross-country ski trails are marked at the resort. Some trails are even approved by the French Ski Federation to host national competitions! Some 20 kilometers are regularly groomed to ensure that everyone can enjoy the trails. - Snowshoeing, pedestrians, dogs, multi-activities: Not permitted on cross-country ski trails. 3 new loops from the heart of the resort are marked out for family fun in the snow, snowshoeing or other snow activities: the green "Sapinière" trail, the blue "Point sublime" trail and the red "Observatoire" trail. The latter is reserved exclusively for snowshoeing. Departure and arrival behind the buildings. - Tobogganing: 2 toboggan runs: 1 at the resort, 1 at L'Espérou. Maison du Parc national des Cévennes - Welcome and tourist information The Tourist Office is located in the Maison de l'Aigoual, just outside the village of l'Espérou (1 km) on the road to Mont Aigoual. The team can advise you on how to organize your stay. Outdoor activities, hikes and events offer you the chance to discover an exceptional area in the Cévennes National Park, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2013. The Tourist Office offers tourist information, documentation, registration for guided theme outings and the sale of specialist literature. The store offers products and objects related to the area: local and regional artists and craftspeople, hiking maps and guides, specialized books and much more. July and August: open daily from 9.30am to 7pm. May, June and September: open Monday to Saturday, 9.30am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 6pm, Sundays 10am to 6pm. April and October (until end of All Saints' vacation) + Christmas and February vacations: open Monday to Saturday, 9:30am to 12:30pm and 2:00pm to 5:00pm, Sundays 11:00am to 5:00pm.
