Follow the La Chapelle trail along unspoilt, wooded country lanes and discover the 15th-century Chapelle de Feillens, known as the Chapelle de la Vierge. The Romanesque chapel was the first parish church. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary, it has been the focus of many pilgrimages. A calvary, dating from the early 16th century and listed as a Historic Monument, stands in front of the chapel. This stone calvary is decorated with small coats of arms; on its reverse side, it bears the arms of the Passion. The shaft and branches of the cross are cylindrical and very elaborate. In the centre of the village, you can still see wooden gates with special ironwork and latches, as in other neighbouring villages in the Val de Saône.

You can discover the village centre, lined with wrought iron gates, and the Lac de Feillens, a vast lake much loved by local anglers and hunters. The lake was created when the A40 motorway was built. Depart from Bâgé-la-Ville town hall. After crossing the D28, you will pass the Château de la Griffonière. Continuing on, you can see the château de Montépin. A short distance from this castle is the Montépin wash-house and drinking trough. The original building was covered in hooked slate, which means it can be dated to the 19th century. Thanks to corporate sponsorship, numerous donors, local councils, the Communauté de Communes Bresse et Saône, craftsmen and volunteers, the restoration work was carried out between 2020 and 2023. Students in the carpentry section of the vocational baccalaureate at the Lycée Carriat in Bourg prepared the door and the boards for the cladding, and installed them on site.

Les Halles or covered marketplace in Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne were originally build in 1440 and were rebuilt in 1670 after a fire destroyed them. The structure measures 80m by 20m and a market is still held there every Saturday morning. After being destroyed by fire in 1670 Les Halles were rebuilt to the original design thanks to the diligence of the then mayor of Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne, Philibert Collet and the generosity of the Countess of Châtillon, Melle de Montpensier who was known as the ‘Grande Demoiselle’. The countess was a cousin of King Louis XIV and through her good offices the king allowed the people of Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne to take all the timber necessary for the reconstruction work from the surrounding forests.

Church of the XIIth century with a bell tower of Romanesque-Byzantine style, rebuilt in 1870 on extension of the nave. Main wealth: arcature of its Romanesque apse forming 7 arcades, 4 of which are adorned with wall frescoes of the 12th century discovered and restored.
