One of the Boucles du Coteau de Publier trails: a pleasant stroll that takes you from the commune's main town to the lakeside. Mainly in shady undergrowth, you'll follow the red triangle of the local signposting along the way. Departure point: Car park at Belvédère and Source Farquenoud in Publier. (Belvédère Eva'd bus stop line 3) Departure possible from the Eglise and the Chef-Lieu of Publier (disc zone parking) or Publier Eglise bus stop lines 3 and 12 Eva'd. From the Farquenoud belvedere, you'll find the Souriane spring where Evian natural mineral water flows, with a lovely view of Lake Geneva. Head back up towards the main town, passing through fields and vegetable gardens. You can make your first stop at the Publier church. The path then descends into the undergrowth, crossing the Nant with the pretty bridge "sur le Nant", and descending again along a wide path to the railroad line, which you have to cross. Reach the lakeside via Parc Maxima with its ferruginous spring and century-old trees. We recommend a break by the lake. At the landing stage, you reach the old village, pass through the passage de l'Abbé Chipier, a small tunnel under the railroad line, then climb up to Crochet. You pass the Crochet orchard and follow the path through the undergrowth that runs alongside the tracks. Pass through woods and fields with a herd of sheep in the Châtaigneraie. Crochet and a short detour to the Chapelle Saint-Etienne on the Blonay estate. (pass between the soccer pitches). Return along the higher path, passing fields and greenhouses and several remarkable trees before reaching the Buvette de Farquenoud lookout.

Nice hike that lead you through very differents environments : from vineyards located on the edge of Dranse river to dry forests on sunny sides or orchards and pastures. Departure : next to "Larry" area, Marin. From September 2022 to July 2024: modification of the route at the start: Starting point: Car park near the Dranse bridge. Take the bridge over the avenue de Thonon in the direction of the chemin des chapelles. The itinerary follows the western slope of the hillside, untouched by any tarmac road, and skirts the Dranse through a deciduous forest to end at the "Vignes de Pont", the name of the hamlet dating back to the Middle Ages, which was swept away several times by floods before being rebuilt a few kilometres further on to become Marin. The loop of the vineyards is astonishing because of the succession of very contrasting landscapes that one crosses: vineyards and orchards, forest with varied species, fields and crops. Located at the gates of Thonon, but yet so wild and isolated, you can see your concerns fly away like blackbirds under the pines. Please respect the vineyards and orchards.

Beautiful walk along Lake Geneva shores, to the Ripaille Castle battlements.

This fourth stage of the GRP Littoral du Léman will take you from Champanges to Thonon-les-Bains. Along the Dranse, then on a rural path to the Chataigneraie park, you will then walk along the lake of Geneva to the center of Thonon-les-Bains. Starting from Champanges, this stage will take you first to the domain of Ripaille, with a part along the Dranse. With a 3,000 year old history, this domain is a worthy representative of the history of the territory. From the Gallo-Roman times to the Middle Ages, until today, Ripaille has always been a place where residents and visitors come to recharge their batteries. The Domaine now belongs to the Necker-Engel family, descendants of Louis XVI's Minister of Finance. Visits of 1h30 are proposed for the price of 10€. You will then walk along the lake to reach the center of Thonon-les-Bains. Thermal city par excellence, take advantage of it to relax and recharge your batteries after your 4th step. Take also the time to discover the basilica of Saint François de Sales with its magnificent vaults and stained glasses.

The path leads from the edge of the plateau, with its plunging view over Lake Geneva, to the more intimate territory of the Maravant valley (meaning "bad ravine"). The Saint-Martin de Champanges church (starting point) dates from 1720. Starting from the church in Champanges, you'll reach the village of Larringes, then the hamlets of Féternes. An easy walk to discover the different landscapes of the Gavot plateau. The more curious will discover an imposing stone bowl, evidence of a prehistoric presence, and, near the Château-Vieux chapel, the lime tree planted in Sully's time, or the Gerbaz mill, which produced flour and oil until 1932.

You can have a lovely walk along the 1 Km bank linking the marina and Thonon’s communal beach. The Rives bank towers over Lake Geneva and links the port to the communal beach. It is a popular walk for locals and visitors of all ages. Fishermen, walkers, cyclists, joggers and rollerskaters love it for its flowery setting and lake views.

This nice walk offers beautiful views of the lake and Switzerland from the city center. From the Belvedere to the castle of Ripaille, many panoramas are to be discovered all along the quays. From the parking of the municipal beach, walk along the quays of Thonon to enjoy the lake shore, until you reach the fishermen's port and the hamlet of Rives. Don't forget to take advantage of the playground and the terraces and kiosks of the port! Variation from the Tourist Office: Start the walk at the Belvedere then take the funicular (1.10 € one way / 2 € return) - Lift available to avoid the few steps to reach the quays of Thonon. On arrival, cross the paved road to reach the lakefront until you reach the entrance of the municipal beach. You can go past the swimming pool along the bike path to admire the Château de Ripaille. For the return, go the other way around.

In a first part, you will reach the castle of Allinges, before continuing in the direction of the marina of Sciez. Starting from the spa town of Thonon-les-Bains, this fifth stage takes place first in an urban area in order to leave the town and then join more rural paths. Approximately in the middle of the stage are the ruins of the Château-Neuf and Château-Vieu d'Allinges. Located on the hill of Allinges, this place was the residence of Saint François de Sales during his mission of evangelization of the province. Built in the 10th century, the highest viewpoint is 717 meters high. You will then reach the village of Sciez-sur-Léman and its marina. Take the time to admire the castle of Coudrée, built in the 12th century by the Counts of Savoy, now a luxury hotel.

The Champions Course is an 18-hole course (6120 metres – 6693 yards) by 72 of the Evian Resort Golf Club. The little train offers you a 35 minutes tour. Thanks to the commentary on board, you will discover the main monuments and emblematic places of the city.

Place of conservation of the historical archives of the City and temporary exhibition space, the Maison Gribaldi is one of the last vestiges of old Evian. Built during the Renaissance period, it still has mullioned windows topped with bracketed lintels, a wooden gallery that was replaced identically during the restoration-extension of 2013 and, inside the building, a beautiful stone spiral staircase. Built against the ramparts that encircled the city, it probably belonged to Vespasian de Gribaldi, a friend of François de Sales and former archbishop of Vienne in the Dauphiné, who left his name to it. It may have been an outbuilding of his nearby manor house, located at the corner of the upper street. The historical and iconographic archives will be digitised and accessible to all from computer stations. A valuable educational tool for research, schools and the public. A programme of thematic exhibitions is presented every year : paintings, sculptures, photographs, etc. In just a few years, the Palais Lumière has become one of the main cultural and artistic centres of the lake Geneva basin. Inaugurated in August 1902, the institute of hydrotherapy is considered to be the best of its kind. Open from 15 May to 15 October, it administers 1,200 treatments a day: baths, showers, massages, and electrical and mechanical treatments. Architect Ernest Brunnarius designed an impressive building: 68 m long and 25 m high, topped with a 30-m dome on a square base. The Gîte des Hermones welcomes you in the small village of Vailly in the heart of the Chablais uplands and 15km from Thonon-les-Bains and Lake Geneva.

The Dranse Delta nature reserve is one of the last natural areas on the shores of lake Geneva ans is home to many animals and plant species. Located between Thonon and Publier, the natural reserve of the Dranse Delta is one of the last natural areas on the shores of Lake Geneva where many animal and plant species live. This area is classified as a SPA (Special Protection Area) for its ecological and environmental values. The Asters association (conservatory of natural spaces of Haute Savoie) manages this natural reserve by ensuring its control, its surveillance and its valorization in the eyes of the population. Itinerary: at the end of the avenue de Saint-Disdille, take the road on your right. A landscaped parking area welcomes you a little further and a natural path leads you to the nature reserve. You enter a more forested area: below, it is an alluvial forest composed mainly of poplars and willows. It is the kingdom of the small passerines: titmice, chicken, warblers... Continue to the mouth of the Dranse and the edges of the lake. At random encounters, one can observe herons, goosander, common sandpiper, small gravelots... On the small beach behind the wetland, on the left, a tree is gnawed by the beaver, a nocturnal animal that frequents the site. The heavily dug paths are the remains of the arms of the Dranse river that used to flow here. Go back to the parking lot by the path... To discover alone all year long, or (better!), accompanied by a naturalist guide, in summer season (information at the Tourist Office of Thonon).

The remarkable architecture of this arch with its light-colored arcades was designed and realized in Hauteville marble stone by stone mason Philippe Bouvet. The zodiac signs were designed and created by sculptor Béatrice Sassone.

Traces of a chapel date back to the earliest days of evangelization on the shores of Lake Geneva (around the 6th century). Dedicated to Saint-Etienne (1st martyr), in the 9th century it housed a relic of Sainte-Anne, a reward received, according to legend, by Tristan de la Chapelle, the local lord. Ceded in 1266 by Pierre de Savoie to the priors of Thonon and Bellevaux, it later became part of the history of the château built nearby. In the 16th and 17th centuries, it was the seat of a small parish, annexed to Publier, where Saint-François de Sales celebrated mass. A fine example of rural architecture from the 12th and 13th centuries, it is listed as a historic monument.

The church of Publier proudly overlooks the wonderful Lake Geneva. Built in the Sardinian neoclassical style between 1826 and 1831, it recently underwent a major renovation. It now has a more contemporary look. Ripaille Forest is just minutes away from Thonon town centre and is ideal for a lovely walk. This private wooded area is home to several different species of animal and you can stroll along a signposted trail to become one with nature. This national heritage site covers 130 hectares of the Domaine de Ripaille estate. Here you can visit the old oak field where the counts of Savoie once hunted (53 hectares), André Engel arboretum (19 hectares) and the Mémorial National des Justes de France, erected in 1997 in honour of the men and women who saved the Jews during World War II. The site is home to a number of species of self-sufficient wildlife and plantlife living in a closed circuit of walls isolating the site from the surrounding urban area. Ripaille Forest covers 53 hectares and is impressive from a historical, forestry and fauna point of view. The counts and dukes of Savoie that came to hunt here in the Middle Ages planted the impressive coppice of sessile oak trees that you can still admire today. During this time a network of paths were laid to divide this forest and lead to the towns in Pays de Vaud on the other side of the lake which once belonged to the Savoie region. The large ancient wall surrounding the forest has helped the wildlife thrive and you can see deer, a large heronry and many nesting birds. Ripaille has been awarded the ZICO label (important area for bird conservation) as per the EU directive. André Engel designed an arboretum whose trees were planted over 19 hectares between 1930 and 1934 and holds 58 different, mostly exotic, species. The aim of the project was to research how these plants acclimatised to our region. Some species, such as the North American douglas fir, were incredibly adaptable.

You can reach these pebble beaches via a lane behind the communal beach. The beaches are almost 3km long and are lovely to walk along whatever the time of year or swim by during the summer. Located just after the communal beach on the edge of the Château de Ripaille estate, La Pinède is a succession of natural little pebble beaches linked by footpaths. In the summer you can swim here (free access – no surveillance) or walk here any time of year and soak up the peaceful atmosphere of Lake Geneva’s untamed banks. This incomparable site on the lakeside is closely linked to the Maison de Savoie. The banks have been listed and the site is protected. In the summer, we do everything to ensure the location is kept clean and peaceful. You can swim in a 3km area right up to Parc de la Châtaigneraie. One of its beaches (signposted) is for naturists.
