Nice hike that lead you through very differents environments : from vineyards located on the edge of Dranse river to dry forests on sunny sides or orchards and pastures.
Departure : next to "Larry" area, Marin.
From September 2022 to July 2024: modification of the route at the start:
Starting point: Car park near the Dranse bridge.
Take the bridge over the avenue de Thonon in the direction of the chemin des chapelles.
The itinerary follows the western slope of the hillside, untouched by any tarmac road, and skirts the Dranse through a deciduous forest to end at the "Vignes de Pont", the name of the hamlet dating back to the Middle Ages, which was swept away several times by floods before being rebuilt a few kilometres further on to become Marin.
The loop of the vineyards is astonishing because of the succession of very contrasting landscapes that one crosses: vineyards and orchards, forest with varied species, fields and crops. Located at the gates of Thonon, but yet so wild and isolated, you can see your concerns fly away like blackbirds under the pines.
Please respect the vineyards and orchards.
Pets allowed on a lead only.
