LES HALLES
65 km

LES HALLES

Located on the former town square, this covered market was built in 1552 by Jérôme De Carné, Earl of Cohignac and creator of the fairs held in Questembert. By fate, it was restored in 1675 by a local entrepreneur named Estienne Charpentier (Estienne Carpenter in English). Les Halles were designed to cover, mark off and control trading areas. The marketplace was a great place to mingle and exchange goods. In the past, drapers, rope makers and shoemakers met here to sell their goods. This was the main activity during old country fairs. Traditional handicraft (canvas, wool, fine linens and leather) was very important in Questembert. Craftsmen having the same profession often lived in the same neighbourhood, even on the same street. Therefore, professional relationships were very easy to make. Streets were often named after certain professions, such as rue de la laine (wool street), rue de la tannerie (tannery street), etc. Les Halles, restored in 1997, have never been used as much as today. It holds a large market on Monday mornings and a market selling regional products on Wednesday evenings as well as flea markets, concerts and other cultural events. Les Halles was classified as a Historical Monument in 1922. Only four “historical” covered wooden markets have survived in the region of Brittany: Questembert and Le Faouët in Morbihan, Plouescat in Finistère and Clisson in Loire-Atlantique. Now, head towards Place de la Libération, and then Place Gombaud. On the other side of the roundabout, you will find the headstone of Alain le Grand, King of Brittany.

L'Ardillon

In a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, l'Ardillon offers two ways to enjoy the delights of the sea. We invite you to discover our dishes of the day during your lunch break and to share our tapas during your get-togethers with family and friends. As for the cuisine, it makes the most of fresh, quality produce from our rich region. Every day, the chef adapts and creates a menu based on what's in season and what's available. Don't hesitate to visit the restaurant's website to discover the detailed menu! So who are the owners? L'Ardillon is the result of a joint project between two brothers from Pornic, Léo & Paco. When they were children, they regularly went fishing with their family. As they grew up, they quickly acquired a taste for French gastronomy and for getting together with friends to enjoy generous dishes and fine wines. Added to this was an interest in travel and discovery. Driven by these same passions, they set about creating a place in their own image. So, on 15 June 2021, they opened l'Ardillon, their fish and seafood restaurant in Pornic. The little extra : If you're looking for a restaurant in Pornic for your big events - weddings, birthdays, after-work parties - l'Ardillon has an inner courtyard that can accommodate your family, friends or business meetings. Also worth a look: Convinced of the usefulness of cultural projects, l'Ardillon wants to share convivial moments with you! That's why Paco and Léo regularly work with artists to bring you a variety of events including concerts, DJ sets, exhibitions and theatre. Did you know? L'Ardillon, which refers to the barb on hooks that prevents the fish from unhooking, is also a sea bass and fish restaurant! L'Ardillon is one of the many restaurants in Pornic presented by the Office de Touirsme Destination Pornic.

Le Zagaya

Le Zagaya, an institution in Pornic! The first walls of the establishment rose from the ground in 1949. Pastries and lollies delighted children at beach snacks, and later a bar opened, offering refreshments and ice creams. Then came shellfish tastings, and the bar became a proper restaurant in 1980. A native of the region, with solid training at the Abbaye de Villeneuve and a 10-year career in Parisian restaurants and brasseries, the idea of returning to the Côte de Jade attracted Hervé, who has been the chef at Le Zagaya since 2008. Together with his wife Zita, they fell in love with this magical place, facing the sea and with their feet in the sand... 🌅 Since then, the links they have forged with local and regional producers have enabled them to offer you fresh produce, worked with passion to share their taste for good living, while preserving a friendly atmosphere. Your next favourite restaurant 😍 With a carefully selected wine and food pairing, we hope to help you discover our passion around our table and offer you moments of happiness and excellent memories. We welcome families and groups all year round, by prior arrangement. The terrace is heated to make the most of the evening. 📅 We recommend you book ahead! You can then enjoy the beach, the sand, the rocks for a digestion to the rhythm of the waves, or contemplate the horizon.... in this haven of peace. A taste of the menu... Home-made stuffed crab 🦀 Calf's head with ravigote sauce Fresh fish cooked to the chef's liking 🐟 Chocolate and banana nems with coconut ice cream 🥥 Lemon tart revisited 🍋 Le Zagaya restaurant is one of the many restaurants in Pornic featured by Destination Pornic Tourist Office.
