On the other side of the Scorff is the Kereven pumping station which supplies drinking water to part of the population in the greater Lorient area. From 1911, Lorient pumped water from the Scorff here, brought by pipes to the north of the town for treatment. From 1957, the water also supplied six other towns in the region.

This path follows one of Morbihan’s former railway lines; the 307-km network was established by the Morbihan department between 1885 and 1910. Connecting Plouay to Lorient from 1902 onwards, this section linked up—via Plouay station—with the Locminé line and the Gourin line (opened in 1906), which you crossed at the start of the route. Known as the "potato train," it served multiple purposes: transporting passengers, luggage, postal parcels, livestock, grain, and other agricultural produce. Facing competition from road transport, it went into decline around 1930 and dismantling began in 1938. The line remained intact and saw renewed service during the war before finally being closed in 1947.

Devoted to Christ, the vast chapel of St-Sauveur was built in the second half of the 16th century, as indicated by its pointed-arched doorway to the west. The nave was rebuilt and enlarged at the end of the 18th century. It houses a Saint Savior, a Virgin and Child and a Christ on the Cross from the 17th century. A panel explains the history of this building, whose annual pardon takes place on the first Sunday in August.

Rebuilt in 1888, the parish church of Saint-Gérand dominates the square with its neo-classical porch bell tower. Inside, an 800-year-old Roman nave and rich furniture have been conserved. Don’t miss the baptismal fonts sculpted with human busts and the Art Déco murals painted in 1946.

The natural site of Coët Létune, or elves’ wood in Breton, is listed as a Natura 2000 site. These humid prairies called “megaphorbia”, are flooded in the winter providing silt and enriching the soil, creating a land where water-loving plants thrive. Exposed to sunshine and uncultivated, these prairies are colonised by tall plants including angelica, reed canary grasses, purple loosestrife, comfrey, hogweed and water dropwort.

This beautiful wet meadow dotted with rushes is home to the devotional fountain of the Saint-Sauveur chapel. Characterized by a triangular wall bearing the coat of arms of the lord who founded the chapel and a niche decorated with a shell, it includes a rectangular basin from which spring water flows. Forming a rivulet, it meanders through the grass before joining the Saint-Sauveur.

Once a single piece of land, cut in two by the Lorient-Roscoff road in the 1980s, the communal wood of Saint-Sauveur was once a vast moorland of some 30 hectares called “Lande du Prince”, probably in reference to the Dukes of Brittany, who held the Breton lands in the Middle Ages. Gradually wooded over the course of the 20th century, it is home, like Coët Fao wood, to local species and planted pines.

Here you are in Kerscoulic valley. To your left, in the wetland, was once the pond of the old Manehouarn mill, the last remains of which were destroyed when the large pond was dug at the end of the 19th century. On your right, in the turret, you can see the hydraulic ram that pumped water into a reservoir near the château for the estate's domestic needs. A panel explains how this process, created by Joseph de Montgolfier, works. On either side of the creek, a buried channel was found at the top of the meadows with water reservoirs on the creek. This system of irrigated meadows, watered in winter, warmed the soil and produced abundant, tender grass. They were probably set up by Fortuné de Pluvié, who created a modern farm on the estate, described in detail in an agricultural magazine in 1853.

The interiors, with lounges, dining rooms and kitchens on the first floor and bedrooms on the upper floors, were once richly decorated and furnished, reflecting the lifestyle of the nobility.
