Simiane is the oldest village in the Bouches-du-Rhône located on the northern slope of the Chaîne de l’Etoile. Discover the astonishing richness of its fauna and flora by moving closer to the canyon walls with its canopy of flowers. Before heading back to the village, look up to your left, to the Rock of Castrum and catch a glimpse of the Clock Tower. It was an ancient watchtower built in the 13th century. You can visit the of St. Peter Parish Church built in the 18th century, before stopping at the 18th century castle transformed as a City Hall.

The village of Gréasque, a former mining town benefits from a privileged location between Aix, Marseille and Aubagne. In the village center, beautiful gardens have been set up in the sixteenth century castle’s area that belonged to the family de Castellane. The mining museum is locatet within the Hély Oissel wells. The forests of the Communal Domain which extend to Europe’s oldest mining town’s remains offer pleasant walks, and can be explored by mountain bike or on horseback.

Perched at the foot of the famous Blue Mountain, the Sainte-Victoire, this former mining village, partly restored, has been built next to the railway station and the railway line. In the the village’s steep streets, admire the medieval remains and go under beautiful antique doors. As it is often the case in Aix, you will spot “Cézanne’s mountain” points of view; the mythic mountain, like waves of mineral foam bounding the red and black Arc Basin. The highest sites of the municipality offer breathtaking views of the Mont Sainte-Victoire’s Pic des Mouches (1 100m).

From the Provençal village to the scrubland, here is a beautiful jaunt in Saint-Cannat countryside, center of good life and enchanting landscapes. Coming from the former N7 road it’s hard to see Saint-Cannat as an abundant farmland responding to all the Provençal rural clichés. But go through the paths between vineyards and olive groves, Bories, water tanks, pine and oak trees, beehives, rosemary fields, old country houses and isolated farms, beautiful fountains, cypress hedges… and you realize! Rognes is one of the most beautiful villages of the Pays d’Aix. Capital of the black truffle, with its narrow streets streaming under the old castle and its hospice, it is truly a must see. From pheasants breeding to Brégalon goat farm, this walk in the heart of the Rognens vineyard is an entrance door to Provençal flavors. This invitation to a taste buds dance is complemented by a total immersion in the pine forest.

This is more than a permanent trail; it is a « treat ». A 13 km walk in the magnificent setting of Mont Sainte-Victoire, which leads you to the heart of the Côtes de Provence, to the Institut des Invalides of the Foreign Legion and the Uniform Museum. 41, rue Cardinale (formerly collège Bourbon) Cézanne was a pupil here from 1852 (first year of secondary school) to 1858. After failing the first session of the arts baccalaureate on 4 August 1858, Cézanne passed it on 12 November 1858. This is where he became friends with the writer Émile Zola, the scientist Jean-Baptistin Baille and Louis Marguery (Court attorney).

Our house is located in a green valley on the edge of the Etoile massif north of the city. The site is particularly cool, calm and quiet. We have hives in a very large garden on the edge of the hill and are always happy to introduce people to the world of bees and honey. The North Hospital is nearby and easily accessible (less than a half hour walk, five minutes by car). To stay in Marseille is to discover a multifaceted city, turned towards the sea but leaning against the hills. Le Clos du Jas is a small guest house full of charm and simplicity, in the heart of a quiet and restful garden. We are located at the foot of the Etoile massif on the heights of the oldest village of Marseille, only a few minutes from the pulsating city center and the beaches and in the immediate vicinity of the Château-Gombert technology park and the Saint-Jérôme faculty. It offers two double rooms: Etoile and Garlaban. Thanks to the bus routes that cross the village and connect to the metro, you can be on La Canebière in half an hour. The village is bordered by pleasant rolling hills.

La Cigogne is a detached house on 2 levels, with a 700 m² enclosed garden, on the GR 2013 road. Two terraces, one covered with garden furniture, bowling green and indoor parking. First floor: large living room, fully equipped open-plan kitchen (LL, LV, MO). Shower room, separate WC. Upstairs: bedroom with double bed, 2 bedrooms with 2 single beds, bedroom with 1 single bed.
