The Pays des Etangs is a paradise for cycle touring with its attractive, gentle landscapes and its cycle-friendly roads. You can take all the time you want to marvel at the extraordinary panoramas, as in Tarquimpol, or awaken your curiosity at the half-timbered house "du Clément".

Starting at the little village of Rhodes by the Stock lake, you will follow the gently undulating landscape through the country and the very well-protected nature of this part of Moselle in the Lorraine Regional Natural Park.

The hiking trail of the "Cornée des Rhètes" leads you along the pond of Stock, in Rhodes and in the forest. The departure is from the church square. The name "Stock" refers to a tree stump. A part of the pond is called "Cornée des Souches" (corner of tree stumps) . The pond has known many changes.It was enlarged between 1860 and 1866 during the construction of the Saar Canal. The pond, as well as those of Mittersheim, Gondrexange and Réchicourt-le-Château are used as reservoirs for the canal. The walk goes around the campsite and continues in the middle of the reeds. Then it's time to go to the forest (be careful, a 200m section can be muddy in winter)! Before returning to the starting point, visit the Anabaptist-Menonite cemetery. There are only three in Moselle. The circular path is 8 km long and takes about 2 hours and 20 minutes to complete.It is an easy walk.

Covering 750 hectares in the area of lakes near Sarrebourg, the Stock lake is the largest in Lorraine. Around the lake, you will be in close contact with wild, well-protected nature.

The Langatte hiking trail allows you to discover a part of the Stock pond. It is a pleasant walk between water and forest. The path takes the walker along the banks of the Saar Canal. Built between 1861 and 1866, it crosses the North-East of Lorraine. It was created to transport coal and wood. The return is done by a dam. The circular path is about 7km long and takes about 2h15. It is an easy walk.

While walking on this track, you will learn more about the layouts allowing river navigation. Long ago, navigation was allowed thanks to 6 locks, that you will discover after you went along the pond. Nowadays, they have all been replaced by a single lock called "the Great Lock", which enables navigators to cross the river faster. Built between 1962 and 1965, it is 15,70m high: there, you will enjoy the outstanding view on the ponds and canals!

This path allows visitors to round the wildest and most protected area of the Réchicourt pond. The pond was originally created to be used as a reservoir of the Marne au Rhin canal. Nowadays, it is divided into two parts: one is still used for sales and pleasure-boating. This touristic attraction is also famous for the diversity of its fauna and flora.

This tour offers you the opportunity to discover Bataville, a town built in 1931 by the Czech entrepreneur Thomas Bata, founder of the eponymous shoe brand. This paternalistic factory town is one of the rare examples of workers' housing estates totally isolated from any urban area. It was equipped with numerous facilities for the well-being of its inhabitants (shops, church, swimming pool, stadium). Employing up to 2,700 people in 1939, the factory closed its doors in 2001. Today Bataville still stands out for its extraordinary heritage and its omnipresent nature.

The Véloroute du Canal de la Sarre cycling path is part of the Eurovelo 5 London-Rome-Brindisi route.

As it leaves Sarrebourg and the Lorraine plateau, the cycle route EuroVelo 5 plunges into the Zorn valley at the inclined plane boat lift at Saint Louis/Arzviller. The lower part of this exceptional structure constitutes the beginning of a cycle trail. Laid out along the tow path of the Marne-Rhine canal, it leads as far as Strasbourg. The Zorn valley, which frames the trail, comes out in Saverne, the gateway to Alsace. The château of the Rohan, the Katz house and the Récollets convent are among the interesting sights in the town. The ride then carries on past numerous locks to Strasbourg and the banks of the Rhine. It goes through Hochfelden, the brewing town, and Brumath, formerly Brocomagus, which was the capital of Alsace in Roman times.

Museum Gaspar is housed in the residence of the middle-class family Gaspar from Arlon who had set up in this house (1893) that was built in 1842. It was renovated in 2004. The two most famous members of this family are animal sculptor Jean-Marie Gaspar (1861-1931) and Charles Gaspar (1971-1950) who was a photographer and a sponsor. He gave his house to the town of Arlon on the condition they make a museum of it, dedicated to his brother's work and that put into honour the history and the heritage of Arlon. At the first floor, theree are two restored salons identical to a middle-class salon from the early 20th century that show Jean-Marie Gaspar's sculptures. and the art and picture collection of Charles Gaspar. The rest of the first floor is dedicated to temporary exhibitions of the museum that alternates artv and history. A religion room shows collections about the abbey of Orval and to the people's devotion at the 18th century, and also relics from the ancient Saint-Martin church. But the Masterpiece is the famous altarpiece Retable de Fisenne - a 16th century masterpiece from the Antwerp school. It was bought in 1893 by a middle-class family from Arlon, the family Gaspar. Jean Gaspar (1861-1931) was a sculptor. He was trained by the Antwerp sculptor Jef Lambeaux. His works are in bronze and in plaster and they are exhibited in the salons that have been restorated as they were in his house. His brother Charles (1871-1950) was a photographer, a collector and a sponsor. He gave this house to the town of Arlon. It hosts the library of the Archaeological Institute of the Belgian Province of Luxembourg and its secretary office since 1954. A wide part of the museum is also dedicated to temporary exhibitions about art and history of Arlon.

Rich in the Gallo-Roman past of Arlon, the museum houses an impressive collection that bears witness to the daily life of this period.One of the peculiarities of the museum is its imposing and rich lapidary collection, composed of several dozen fragments of ancient funerary monuments.These blocks and the objects from Roman craftsmanship will teach you more about daily life at that time.

All the interior walls of the church of St Peter and St Paul, erected in 1729 and adjoining a chapel dating from 1550, are covered with frescoes representing religious scenes created by the Abbot Abbot in the 1920s. Sequential lighting accompanied by a commentary makes it possible to discover the richness of this veritable illustrated encyclopaedia of religious and popular history. Built in 1725 in stone and red brick facing, which were once still visible on the eastern façade, covered with a Mansard roof over a fine framework, and set back from a vast courtyard, this house is called "Le Château". It was a farm of the Custines, lords of Guermange. The adjoining barn, with its high framework, has retained its red brick facings. The interior of this residence, which is currently being restored, is distinguished by its half-timbered partitions and French ceilings on the first floor. The house and the barn are now listed in the Inventaire Supplémentaire des Monuments Historiques. Free guided tour by reservation only for a maximum of 4 people.

The Musée du Patrimoine Architectural du Pays des Etangs is a remarkable example of timber-framed architecture. This 1750 house bears witness to the history of man and rural architecture. Restored with a view to setting an example, it has a garden with local fruit species, a hedge, wild plants, a living willow tree and a relaxation area.... The Maison du Clément is an ideal venue for schools to organise outings on the theme of architectural and natural heritage. Events, nature outings, exhibitions and .... are organised on a regular basis. Except for special events, the Maison du Clément is open by prior arrangement.

The Fortified Farm is a unique place. Situated in the Regional Natural Park of Lorraine, in the middle of the forests and ponds of the Sarrebourg region, it is the ideal place for a stopover. It is open from June to September, on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, from 14h00 to 18h00. It is preferable to call beforehand. Groups are accepted by appointment. Transform yourself into a lord for a night in its guest rooms (table d'hôtes meals on reservation) Admission: 3 €. Free for children. Free entrance during the European Heritage Days.

Thanks to the generosity of a parishioner and Abbot LOUE, a chapel was erected near Réchicourt-le-Château in 1880. It is a plain but pure building located in a small enclosure. Inside the chapel you may find a bell from 1669 which is not only rung for people's devotion to Saint-Blaise but also to warn parishioners from upcoming storms. Numerous pilgrims were coming until 1954 on February 3rd, Saint Blaise Day, to pray and have their baskets full of seeds and vegetables blessed. This benediction was supposed to guarantee farmers to have their granaries full all year long.
