Dommartin-les-remiremont: Discover Fun and Relaxation in the Vosges

Access: From Remiremont, take the direction of Dommartin-lès-Remiremont. Parking: Park in the car park in front of the Town Hall. Distance: 5.8 km / Duration: 1 h 45 / Difference in altitude: 240m / Marked out: blue ring. 1) Go up between the two restaurants, on the other side of the road, follow the path marked out blue circle which by a large uphill path arrives, via a viewpoint (chalet), on the plateau. 2) It is possible to go back to the Goat Church and then leave the path and go down to the right to reach the Virgin of May (viewpoint over the valley). 3) Then continue the descent and before arriving on the small road, go to the right on a path that runs along the forest and return, by a road at the end, to the car park.

Access: Go to the Centre of Dommartin-lès-remiremont. Go towards Vagney and after about 1 km, turn right towards the old Brasserie. Parking: Park in front of the small pond. Distance: 6 km / Duration: 2 h / Difference in altitude: 270m / Markings: red ring. 1) Follow the red rings all the way. Cross the road and climb up a winding path. 2) At the top of the hill, make a return trip to the rock viewpoint (silence zone recommended). 3) Go back down and continue the route downhill towards the Col de Cheneau. 4) Cross the road at the pass and take the path on the right that goes down to the car park, crossing the ruins of the old Villemard farm.

Access : Centre of Vecoux. Parking: Park in the car park in front of the town hall. Distance: 8.6 km / Duration: 3 h / Ascent: 320 m / Signs: Blue ring. 1) Walk past the church and turn right towards Reherrey. Then follow the blue ring signs all the way. 2) Follow the road to the bottom of the buildings (leave 2 roads leading to the houses on your left). 3) In the hamlet of Reherrey, after the farm, cross the road and go up towards the Source de Chaudefontaine. 4) Continue to climb to reach the Gros Chêne. Follow the small road (flat then uphill) towards the Croix du Cucheron. 5) Go back down and make a small diversions towards the Vierge de Vecoux.

Access: From the town hall, in front of the church and turn right towards Reherrey. Follow the signs "Parking des Cucherons" for about 3 km, by the Gros Chêne road. Parking: Parking des Cucherons (tourist sign). Distance: 2 km / Duration: 45 min / Difference in altitude: 125 m / Marked out: Red disc. 1) Take the small road (red disc beaconing) up to the orientation table and the viewpoint. 2) Follow the markings on a flat path then slightly downhill to a path. 3) Leave the signposting, go up to the right and then go down towards the road to return to the car park.

Access: Take the direction of St Etienne les Remiremont. At the Centre roundabout, take the direction of the Gendarmerie Mobile barracks then Saint Romary(Auberge) park in the car park opposite the Auberge, on the other side of the road. Itinerary: go up the main road. At the intersection of the two marked paths, follow straight ahead the marked path (blue ring then three markings) which will take us to the top of the Saint Mont, leaving on the left towards the archaeological excavations. From the top, go down from the plateau following again the triple beaconing towards the Pont des Fées. Cross it and take on the left the big path marked out red ring to join another marking (red triangle) to be followed towards the left while going down to join the road. Follow it on the left, always going down to join the car park. Distance : 4,2 km Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes Difference in height 200 m markings: blue ring, three markings, red ring and red triangle.

Access: From St-Etienne-lès-Remiremont, at the roundabout in the centre, towards the mobile police station. Parking: Park in the car park near the mobile police station. Distance: 6 km / Duration: 2 h 30 / Difference in altitude: 350 m / Signs: blue easel, red ring, red triangle. From the Gendarmerie Mobile in Saint-Étienne-lès-Remiremont, take the road upwards. At the first intersection, turn right onto the road marked with a blue signpost, which runs alongside the houses. Once you reach the car park, take the left-hand path into the forest, then 50m further on, turn right onto the path that climbs up. Continue on this path following the blue signpost. It is a nice path that runs alongside a logging road. Then, when you reach the logging road, go straight ahead (a little further on, don't hesitate to make a slight detour via the Haute borne!) The path then becomes relatively flat until you see a sign indicating the upcoming arrival at the chapel of old Saint-Amé. At the sign, go down to the right. Be careful on the way down, the path is rocky and steep but the chapel is worth it! Once there, you can take advantage of the tables and benches to rest before the ascent to the Saint-Mont. To continue the walk, go along the chapel on the left and then pass in front of the Saint-Amé cave to join a path that is always marked with a blue easel. The climb is a bit steep and rocky too: be careful! Once you have reached a grassy flat, at the level of a carriage road, turn right, go through the barrier and continue on this road until the next crossroads, turn left to reach the Saint-Mont, passing in front of the archaeological excavations. Once at the Saint-Mont, enjoy the 360° view and the facilities on site. To go back down, cross the Saint-Mont site, and take the access road by car towards the Pont des fées. Stay on this path for a few metres, then quickly turn left along a path that is always marked with a blue easel. A little further down, follow the path on the right to reach the Pont des fées and cross it. At the carriage road, turn left following the red ring. Stay on this path for just over a kilometre until you reach an intersection with another path. From here, turn left onto a pretty path marked with a red triangle, which descends into the forest and then joins the road. Take the road for a short while on the left towards the Saint-Romary estate. When you arrive at the estate, turn right and walk past the restaurant along the right-hand side to join a path, still marked with a red triangle, which leads down to the Miraumont waterfall. After the waterfall, continue on the path that runs alongside the stream and joins the road. Take this road which leads back to the gendarmerie, to the starting point.

The “ Voie Verte“ in the Hautes-Vosges, surrounded by mountains and fresh hair, is a multi-activity track on the former railway lines (55km long) running along the Moselle Valley (33km to Bussang) and Moselotte Valley (24 km to Cornimont). With your family or friends, you will enjoy varied landscapes, beautiful spots and friendly users and will definitely want to come back! Open to everyone, with a free access, the “Voie Verte” is excellent for safe practising walking (stroll, hike, run…), cycling (bike, MTB, hybrid bike…), sliding (roller-skating, skate-boarding, roller-skiing, child’s scooter…) and cross-country skiing.

Access: From St-Etienne-lès-Remiremont, at the roundabout in the centre, towards the mobile police station. Continue to climb towards the Domaine Saint-Romary. After the domain, stay on the road until the next crossing on the right with a dirt road. Parking: Park 100m further on at the hiking sign. Distance: 7 km / Duration: 2 h 30 / Difference in height: 350m / Signs: red ring to the Hermitage Saint Arnould then yellow ring. On the carriage road, park at a crossroads with hiking trails. From there, follow the red ring signposting by turning right towards the Pont des fées to reach it. Just before the Pont des fées, take the Sentier des Moines on the left which climbs for a while. Follow the signs until you reach the Ermitage Saint Arnould. Take the time to admire a nice view of Saint-Etienne les Remiremont shortly before arriving there. On the spot at the Saint Arnould hermitage: small viewpoint, engraved rock, remains and archaeological excavations. This is the moment when the signposting changes. From now on, take the yellow ring signposting which leaves on a path on the right after the Saint Arnould cross. Follow this signposting which will change from a path to a track to reach the Kerlinquin stone (745m altitude). At the crossroads, turn left, then 50m further on take the leftmost path. Keep to the signs and take the path that will lead you to the Sainte-Sabine chapel. On site: chapel and fountain. To leave the site, go behind the chapel and then go up on the left to take the path, which is always marked with a yellow ring. Further up, at the crossroads at the level of a large cross, take the road which descends on the left. Follow this path and the yellow ring markings for more than a kilometre. Leave the road and take a marked path to the right. Be careful, the descent to the starting point is a bit steep: take your time!

Access : Departure from the centre of Saint-Etienne-lès-Remiremont Parking: Church car park Distance: 4.6 km / Duration: 1 h 30 / Difference in height: 165 m / Marking: green ring 1) From the church, take the sports trail (between the stadium and the collective housing). Cross the small bridge, continue along the path and before the wooden bridge, take the small road on the right, between the houses (chemin de la Moutière). 2) Before the green house, go up a steep path on the right which joins a small road (on the right) and then a stony path. Leave the path at the first bend to take the path opposite which climbs towards the Xennois pond. 3) From the pond, go back down the main path and continue up to a small road (small private chapel). Continue along the road and then fork at the junction downhill and around a pond. At the next junction, descend to the hostel and the Chapelle Sainte Claire. 4) At the back of the hostel (go round to the right), go down into the forest to the Cascade de Miraumont. 5) Continue downhill, exit the forest (small bridge), continue on the road (mobile police station), and turn right (rue de Deal) to reach the car park (cave).

Departing from Remiremont station, this loop takes you first to St-Etienne-les-Remiremont. From there, take a winding road over the Moselle to the centre of Eloyes, where you can stop for a snack or a bite to eat. You then cross the Moselle via a footbridge. The rest of the route takes you through urban and suburban areas to reach St-Nabord. The route then climbs higher and you'll appreciate the electric assistance of your bike, if you have one. Step on the pedals and enjoy the beautiful views over the valley before heading back down to Fallières. You're almost there... just one more little effort to get back to your starting point.

Enjoy a Swiss cheese tasting and learn more about the national dish: fondue.  Learn to make your own Swiss fondue and try the traditional dish.  After your meal, relax and climb on board the Golden Express, a panoramic train which crosses the alpine pastures and the heights of Lake Geneva. Enjoy incredible views of the lake and the Alps. When you get off the train, get back on your bus and head to Lavaux and its terraced vineyards. The Maison du Patrimoine explores local history through three themed areas. The ‘Local History’ room presents archaeological remains and objects emblematic of the region's past. The ‘Iconography and Religious Life’ room highlights local religious art and spiritual practices. A third room is dedicated to temporary exhibitions, this year focusing on the Dommartin brewery.

Phased construction from the 15th century. (tower) in the 20th century (last works: raising the tower by 4 metres in 1927-28), constantly enlarged and embellished. Almost all the elements of the choir are listed or classified as M.H. (woodwork, side altars, communication gates, gilded wooden altar, 18th century confessionals. Inside, the 15th century statue "La Vierge du Mai", 1.84m high, is classified as M.H.; is one of the three most important Virgins of the Vosges. Symbol of the parish, this Virgin and Child will return to the church in 1956.

High of 1, 84 m., The statue is one of the largest 3 Virgin Vosges. After returning the church in 1956, the project back to see the mountain of Cuchot (551 m) culminated on 29.05.2010. The location for this copy is located at the junction of the two valleys of the Moselle and Moselotte; it dominates the plain of over 150 m as a balcony. To complete the site, an orientation table was installed near the statue. It allows to enjoy a magnificent panorama and rest before beginning the descent. Access: Take the street behind the restaurant Cuchot Karelian and follow the signs for 2km to reach the street Rapré then the forest.

In the footsteps of Saint-Amé de Remiremont Saint-Amé, a seventh-century figure, founded the double monastery of Saint-Mont with Saint-Romaric. Born in Grenoble, he lived as a hermit on this mountain, where he has been buried since 629. This spiritual place gave birth to one of the most influential women's chapters in Europe. Today, crosses and remains are a reminder of this rich past, marking the site of the first church of Saint-Amé and a former cemetery. Although the current chapel is closed, the exterior is an invitation to discover a place steeped in history and legend. Access: Start on foot from the mobile police station in Saint-Étienne-lès-Remiremont. Walking map available from the Tourist Office and on the Remiremont Plombières Tourisme app.

An exhibition of more than 1500 minerals, a magical black lighted room, a collection of fossils that include the footprint of a Vosges dinosaur, a genuine mammoth shinbone, a unique tracking of the 800 rocks of the Vosges Mountains, but also lectures, thematic movies and a laboratory. The Geology Centre is a crossroads of knowledge and discoveries where amateurs and professionals are honoured. It was built on a historical location of granite and granite workers to whom a tribute is paid with its park. Open on: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays from 2 to 6 p.m. Groups and schools: Guided visits on appointment all year round, morning and afternoon, 15 people min. Tel: 03 29 26 58 10 NOVEMBER/DECEMBER/JANUARY: Open only for groups on reservation and during the school holidays. During 2019: A two-level exhibition regrouping minerals, rocks and fossils thus tracing the Earth’s history. The outside park is free and presents all manner of granite-working tools. One of the biggest collections in the whole of France with the black light room and the famous quartz ghost.

The site offers fine views over the Moselle and Moselotte valleys. A place of pilgrimage for centuries, it had a major influence on the whole region. Recent archaeological excavations have enabled the construction of the church to be restored and its history to be clarified. Access: from ‘Saint-Romary’, take the main road, which is closed to motor vehicles. Go straight on at the junction of two tracks. At the junction of several paths, turn left. Continue uphill and pass under the porch to reach the plateau, the chapel and the 360-degree panorama. Return along the large downhill path. Head towards the Ponts des Fées (follow the diversions as it is forbidden to walk on the bridge in order to preserve it). Once you have crossed the bridge, follow the red ring markings and finally take the path marked with red triangles, which will take you back to the car park.

Mont Habend, also known as Saint-Mont, is a sacred site located at an altitude of 672 m in the commune of Saint-Amé, to the south of the Fossard massif. The site offers exceptional views over the Moselle and Moselotte valleys, and has been occupied since ancient times. In 620, Amé, a monk preacher, and Romaric, a nobleman from Austrasia, founded a double monastery here, following the austere rule of Saint-Colomban. The female monastery was transferred in 819, but the site remained a place of pilgrimage for several centuries. Recent excavations have uncovered a burial necropolis dating back to the first millennium and traces of various medieval buildings. Now a listed monument, the site holds many secrets, including the largest group of Formae (funerary tombs of nuns) ever discovered. Saint-Mont can only be reached on foot, either via the chapel of Vieux Saint-Amé, or via Saint-Étienne-Lès-Remiremont.

The Pont des Fées (Bridge of the Fairies), a listed historic monument, is a mysterious vestige located between Saint-Amé and Saint-Étienne-lès-Remiremont, in the heart of a magnificent forest. Built of dry stone at an undetermined time, it is 29 metres long, 13 metres wide and 7 metres high. The bridge served as a passageway between the Saint-Mont and the Massif du Fossard. Since April 2023, it has been forbidden to cross the Pont des Fées, but a diversion has been put in place by Club Vosgien volunteers. This new route offers a splendid view of the bridge, providing an unforgettable escape in a natural setting. It can be reached by car from Saint-Amé or Saint-Étienne-lès-Remiremont.

Built in the 13th and 14th centuries using materials from a former ‘maladrerie’, the Sainte-Magdelaine chapel is the last vestige of the leper colonies that existed during the second leprosy epidemic in Lorraine. Listed as a Historic Monument since 1991, it is dedicated to Sainte-Magdelaine, patron saint of lepers and a symbol of isolation and purification. Although the chapel is only open to visitors once a year, during the brioche festival, its exterior reveals its fascinating history. Located 1.8 km from the town centre, it can be reached via the Faubourg d'Alsace. A must-see for history buffs.

At an altitude of 660 m, these pink sandstone blocks overlook the valley and dominate the path below by about ten metres. Between the trees, you can see the Fossard massif, the village of Dommartin-lès-Remiremont. After a contemplative break on the bench, the walker retraces his steps for about twenty metres and takes this time the path that starts on his left. The descent is easy and we arrive under the Tocquaine rock. A true monument of nature that takes on its full scope here. Access by foot from the Chalet des Gardes

A lot of charm for this wooden chalet with its warm and intimate decoration. This family and friendly "Hôtel-restaurant" offers, to the rhythm of the seasons, a homemade slate cuisine oriented "terroir and traditional dishes" but also pizzas cooked over a wood fire, homemade burgers, and a Vosges menu based on fresh "local" products. All this on site or to take away. A beautiful shaded and wooded terrace welcomes you to the sunny days and the warmth of the wood stove in winter... On the first floor, our room can accommodate groups for professional or personal events (menu creation, private and decorated room). A fully equipped meeting room (up to 15 people) is also available for rent.
