The Crosses Circuit

Set out on along paths where you can discover the crosses of the Plateau de Millevaches, sober and moving witnesses to the people's faith.Depart from the church square. Go down the D 8 towards Le Moulin.At the end of the village, turn left down the side road. Cross the Creuse then take the track to the right. At the next crossroads, take the track to the right. Follow it straight ahead to return to the D8.Take the road to the right and cross the stream again. On the left at an abandoned road, take the uphill path to the D8. Follow it to the right; then, when you reach the cross at the village entrance, follow the road to the left. Continue straight ahead until you reach the power line and then turn right down the path.Take the road to the left. At the cemetery, go up on the left by the track that runs alongside the solar energy park. Cross the D36 to take the track opposite. 200m. further on, take a forest path on the right that leads to La Vialle.Enter the village and take the road on the right. At the next crossroads, take the departmental road on the left. At the crossroads with the road to Crabanat, go ahead and then immediately take the path below the road. Follow it for quite a long time. It begins a descent: at the Y-junction, take the path on the right that goes up.Take the road to the right. In Crabanat, take the road on the left (when you get to the top of the meadow, turn around for a view of the Sancy and Cantal massifs) and go on to the D36.Cross over and continue on the track ahead. A little further on, turn left (10 mins) towards the source of the Creuse river. Continue on the track straight ahead to get back to Féniers.

Welcome to the town of Clairavaux, on the Creuse lands of the PNR de Millevaches in Limousin. This trail invites you to discover the special characteristics of the Creuse valley.Depart from the church square. Go back up into the village and turn right into an alley. Go right at the next crossing to reach a grassy path that goes down to a pond.Take the road on the right to reach the crossroads. Cross over the D982 and turn left onto a tarmac path that goes along at the foot of the quarry. It turns into a grassy path; it is a former railway line. Follow it for 2 km.Take the road on the right which goes through Laveix and Raynaud.600 m after Raynaud, turn left onto the forest track. It rises above the meadows. Leave it for a path that climbs up into the undergrowth and leads to a moor. Carry on, following the level pathway. Cross a fence, and you find, on the edge of the military property, a path which you follow to the right.At the crossroads, turn right to go down to the protected spring head. At the catchment level, follow the path alongside the stream to the road. Turn left onto it to reach Abat.In the village, take a tarmac path on the right. It joins a road on the right that you take to reach Teix. At the crossroads (outdoor laundry on the left), take the path that goes down and joins a road that you take on the left for 200 m. Take a path on the right that descends to the D982.Cross it, go around the old gatekeeper's house and follow the track (the old railway) for 500 m. Leave it to take a path on the right that crosses the River Creuse and leads up to an old mill.Cross the road and take a steep path almost opposite. Go up by this small stream and then turn right onto a path that joins the road. Turn left onto it to reach Clairavaux.

Along the way

Come and discover the source of the Creuse on the Plateau of Millevaches.Park at the crossroads between the D982 and the D8. Follow the road towards Féniers for 100 m.Follow the grassy trail that leads to the source of the Creuse. Continue on the decking. After the steps, turn left to join the D982. Cross over and take the small road that leads to Artiges.In the village, turn left onto a path that runs alongside the road. Take the tunnel and go uphill to the left for 200 m. Take the earth path on the right. Pass the Creuse and go back up into the woods. Follow the main path straight ahead. 100 m before the road, it branches off to the right. At the T-junction, turn right; ignore two paths on the left, cross the stream and go up the hill towards Villefert.Take the road to the right (off the circuit): on the left, make a return journey of 100 m to see the remains of the church of Villefert). Keep straight on down the road, and pass the Creuse. After the gatekeeper's house, turn right onto a grassy path which joins the D982. Cross it, go back up for a few metres and take the road towards Crépiat.Continue straight into the village. The road becomes a path that you take on the right. Continue straight along this path, ignoring the paths on the left. At the track, turn left. Then turn right at the next crossroads to reach the Pomet.Go straight down into the village. Turn right onto the road. Continue straight on this road until you reach the church (before the church, on the left below the road, is a spring).In front of the church, take the stony path that passes in front of the houses. At Massoubre, go down on the left to join the D982. Follow it to the right and then turn left to return to the starting point.

Meet the wind turbines

Get ready to discover magnificent landscapes that will fill your heart and mind. Together with a generous breath of fresh air!From the car park in front of the old town hall of Pigerolles, go up to a small road parallel to the D8; turn right. Continue straight ahead until the stop sign, turn left on the D8 then turn right towards Neuvialle.Take the first track on the left alongside the Cubaynes watercourse. Continue on this track leaving all the small trails on each side, climb the steep path to the next intersection (panorama).Turn right, go about 200 m and continue along the path, still on the right. Leave a first path that goes down through the undergrowth on the right and ou will reach the next intersection.Take the next track on the right which goes upwards, and you will see a large white cross on the right. Panorama over the wind turbines and the village of Pigerolles on the right.Turn right and then immediately to the left (marker for the Amicale des Maquis de la Haute Corrèze). Continue this track on the left while skirting the wind turbines. 300 m on the left is the Puy Brut boundary stone (panoramic view of the Gentioux plateaus and the Monts d'Auvergne in clear weather).Turn right and follow the wide wooded track. After a small steep path, you arrive at the summit of Puy Groscher (view of the Monts d'Auvergne on the right). Continue until you reach an intersection.Turn right at the intersection and follow the track until you reach the road. Turn right and stay on the road until you reach the edge of Pigerolles.On the D8 as you enter the village, take the small road that goes up on the left and turn immediately to the right into the path that runs alongside the B-road. After 200 m turn left, pass in front of the church and take the minor road on the left. Continue, turning right, and you arrive at the car park.

This is a varied circuit exploring the traditional rural buildings of the commune of Saint-Setiers, the forests, springs and viewpoints over the Monts d'Auvergne; enough to delight any walker!Park in the car park behind the church. Go down towards the village.Take the road to the right. At the church crossroads, go up towards Peyrelevade. Leave the cemetery on the right and the road to Sounaleix on the left (return trip to the Parc des Arbres Redressés). 50 m further on, take the path on the right that passes the mutineers' hut.Cross the road and continue straight ahead. Ignore a path on the left; take the next one that goes past the chapel. Continue straight on, crossing a track to reach the fountain.Turn right. At the end of the track, turn left. Go downhill for 400 m and take the path on the right. Turn left at the next crossroads: the path turns and joins a track. Turn left onto it.Before you reach the Departmental road, take the path on the right. Ignore a path on the left. A short round trip to the source of the Diège at the second crossroads. Continue straight ahead. The path goes up to a track. Follow it to the left. Go straight on at the next crossroads to descend to Morneix.Go through the village, cross the stream and then follow the path up to the right; on a flat area, go left. Join a path that you take on the right to go around a valley, ignoring two paths on your right. On the descent, turn right; the path leads up to an electricity pylon. Continue to the right.At the end of the path, go up to your right. Go straight on at the next crossroads. At the Y-junction (view of the chapel), turn left. Go downhill, ignoring a path on the right, to join the road.Turn left onto it. A short walk to the orientation table and back. Continue straight downhill. At the sorting containers, turn right to get back to the starting point.
