Take to the skies above Tignes and discover the majestic peaks of the Vanoise Massif. Departing from Tignes le Lac, just a step or two away from the Albertville ’92 Winter Olympics’ cauldron of the Olympic Flame, the route takes you along the shores of Tignes Lake to the Michel Faugère Stadium, where you may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of some of the world’s top international teams training. With a little help from your e-bike, make your way up to the alpine pastures and high mountain Chardonnet Lakes. Take the time to admire the view of the Aiguille Percée (the Eye of the Needle), a geological curiosity well-known to hikers and skiers, before returning to your departure point down the “Smoothie" mountain-bike trail (green level). This hike balances between Tignes resort and the heart of the National Park. The contrast is amazing but telling of the history of the Vanoise. From the wooden terrace of the Maison de Tignes (tourist information office), follow the building to the right, get back on to the trail that starts to the right of the Palafour ski lift. Join a track which you follow on your left for about 150 m. The trail leaves the track on the left. After about 600 m, the trail passes between 2 mountain bike trails. Follow the route in to the middle. After 250 m of gradient, take the vehicle track on the left. It will bring you to the Chardonnet Lakes. Continue along the track that leaves to the right between the two lakes, until you reach the GR®5. Follow the GR®5 to the Refuge du Col du Palet via the pass of the same name. From the refuge, follow the GR®5 until the next fork in the road, 50 m after the Lac du Grattaleu. Take the trail on the right in the direction of “Col de la Tourne 0h50”. About 1 km uphill where the path forks again, take the trail on the right. From the Col de la Tourne, follow the trail until you reach the vehicle track 50 m before the Beau stream. Continue on the track for 80 m, turn right and walk for another 600 m. Join the trail that brought you from the Maison de Tignes. Follow the trail downhill.

Discover Tabasco! A slightly shorter enduro, a little easier than the others, which takes you to the foot of Borsat chairlift. Be careful, though, as you need to be a controlled, precise, and technical rider to enjoy yourself on this trail!

Discover the Blue Lagoon itinerary! Arriving at the summit of Borsat, you are at the highest point of the Bike Park at 2800m! Following in the footsteps of Flowy Jumper, this blue trail is the only DH trail beneath the Borsat chairlift. Halfway down, at the Col de Fresse, you can decide whether to head to Tignes or back down to Val, it's your choice!

Discover Very Bike Trip! This is the hardest, most technical and steepest enduro of the entire Bike Park connected to Tignes and Val d'Isère! Make no mistake, the first part in the short grass steppes is playful and welcoming, but from the passage at the foot of the TSD Fontaine Froide, the trail becomes downright demanding, technical, and the end in the mythical Face de Bellevarde is reserved only for the best!! Be careful, engaging in Very Bike Trip requires a very big technical background, otherwise, choose another route! This course is based on a special from the 2013 Enduro World Cup. In some places, falling is prohibited! The passage in the Ancolie is really worth points! This is where the skiers of the 1992 Olympic Games descended.

Discover Rock'n Ride! Another black enduro, also very technical, but less steep. Its name wasn't chosen at random!

Discover Bellev'hard! Updated for 2024, this black DH has finally become the black trail that Val d'Isère has been waiting for: It's still all about fun, but with lots of jumps, some of which you absolutely have to make: you need some really strong technical experience and a good dose of commitment to conquer it!

Overlookink a small mountain lake, this refuge of the Vanoise national park, on the GR5 and the Tour de la Vallaisonnay, proposes a great site seeing on the 3 highest peaks of Savoie.

Located in the heart of the Parc de la Vanoise in an old sheepfold converted into a refuge, at an altitude of 2145m, it benefits from a protected environment in the heart of the alpine fauna and flora allowing the observation of large mammals and birds of prey. The refuge is privately run. It is located on the "Tarentaise" side of the Vanoise National Park, on the GR5, at the edge of the PLagne lake, source of the Ponthurin. You will go up between the Mont-Pourri massif, its glaciers and the waterfalls that flow down from it, and the Aliet massif. The GR 5 passes 10 minutes from the refuge and links it to the Col du Palet and Tignes. The refuge is open and guarded permanently from mid-June to mid-September. (no winter refuge). How to get there : - from Peisey-Nancroix and the Parc de Rosuel refuge-gate (car parks, shuttles from Landry - SNCF station and Peisey, refuge, catering, via ferrata), in 2h30 (average time) of walking on a good path on the left or right bank of the Ponthurin, - from Les Arcs and the Mont Pourri refuge (two hours), - from Tignes-le-Lac (3 hours via the Col du Palet refuge), - from the Martin refuge (via the Col de la Sachette or the Tourne), - from the Champagny-en-Vanoise valley (4 hours from the Plaisance refuge via the Plan Séry pass or the Aimes pass). This refuge has a capacity of 40 people and belongs to the commune of Landry. Francis, the muleteer, also offers you his donkeys for hire for your walks. Contact him, 2 km before the Rosuel car park. NB: Dogs, kept on a lead, are allowed from Rosuel to the refuge (but not beyond), provided they climb up the left bank of the Ponthurin. The refuge is ideally situated for mountain fishing enthusiasts, on the banks of the Lac de la Plagne, a beautiful torrent, ideal for fly fishing or fishing for trout and salmon. The hut is a depository for the day fishing cards of the Société de la Gaule de l'Ormente. Fishing is open on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and public holidays; fishing for dead or live fish is prohibited. Rates are different for holders of a fishing permit or not. Open from 19 June to 18 September 2022.

Located at 2487 m, this refuge of the Vanoise National Park is located in the heart of the park on the route of the GR55 and Via Alpina. Its small lake, pastures and wildlife make it the ideal place for a relaxing stopover.

The refuge is guarded from 20/06 to 15/09/2020. Caretaking's end date to be confirmed. In the heart of the Vanoise national park, the guardian welcomes you in an old sheepfold rehabilitated in 1985. Just above the refuge, is the dry lake of La Glière. A lot of marmots. Country lunch, traditional lunch and dinner. Typical refuge (dormitories and rooms for 4 people) but comfort with toilets and hot showers. At the start of many hikes and a 1-hour walk from the boundary of the heart of the Vanoise National Park, the refuge welcomes all kinds of visitors and provides information about the Park. This refuge in the Vanoise National Park is located in the heart of the park. It welcomes visitors in summer and spring in a friendly atmosphere with generous and tasty food. Linger on the lakeshore awhile and look up at the mountain peaks around you… Magnificent, aren’t they? Can you recognise Tignes’ three” Great Ladies”? You can make out the Grande Motte (3,653 metres), famous for its glacier (and incidentally the resort’s logo) and its neighbour the Grande Casse (3,855 metres) with its ridgeline and much more precipitous walls. And behind you, the Grande Sassière, France’s highest peak, is accessible in the summer with no need for climbing equipment: a hike that will take you 3,747 metres above sea level!

In 1992, on the occasion of the Albertville Winter Olympics, Tignes hosted the three acrobatic skiing events: ski-acro (or ski ballet), freestyle skiing and the Games’ first mogul skiing event. There are still traces of the resort’s Olympic past to be seen, including the Olympic Flame’s cauldron to the left of the Palafour chairlift and the ski-acro and freestyle skiing pistes in the Tignes Val Claret sector. And the resort’s Olympic adventure continues today: Tignes’ candidacy was officially selected by Paris 2024 as one of the preparation centres for athletes who will be competing in the next Summer Olympics and Paralympics. A source of great pride for the resort, which has always hosted top national and international teams!

Frozen over in winter (you can cross it on foot!), Tignes’ natural lake turns itself into a playground in the summertime, ideal for sportspeople, families, fishermen and food lovers… On no account to be missed: Acroland, the watersports centre’s most mind-blowing facility! Equipped with wetsuit, helmet and lifejacket, thrill-seekers slide down the 7 hot-jumping tramps on their backs, bellies, bodyboards or inflatable buoys… before finally plunging into the lake. A refreshing spectacle indeed!

Mountain lake whose surrounding peaks are majestically reflected. In this grandiose setting, the wide range of activities becomes a real pleasure: jogging, water sports, pedal boats, canoeing, fitness trails, fishing ... and golf.

This dammed-lake depicts a paradoxical image, reconstructing an image of nature by an effect of industry, representing a pure human act by banishing the humanised landscape. More surprising yet, this reservoir landscape, which empties every ten years offering a glimpse into a village of the past, and this apparently imprisoned water, is still in permanent communication with the Arc and Isère by intimate tunnels joining L´Ecot and Malgovert. This highly unusual golf course, Europe’s highest 18-holer, provides outstanding views of the Grande Motte’s glacier, the shimmering waters of Tignes Lake and the surrounding mountains, along its 5 km of fairway. An out-of-the ordinary experience, with players fine-tuning their swing among the woodchucks, who have appointed themselves the course’s guardians!

Thanks to a stop near the Lac du Chardonnet, you may be able to see the common hawker flitting about. The exclusively aquatic larva of this dragonfly takes nearly 3 years to reach maturity. It emerges from the water and sheds its skin to become a flying adult whose short life (a few weeks) is devoted to reproduction. With nearly 100 species, France has the greatest wealth of dragonflies in Europe.

At 2,778 metres above sea level, this spectacular natural arch, Tignes’ most photographed geological curiosity, watches over the Tignes-Champagny Nature Reserve with admirable finesse.The hike from Tignes Lake to the Aiguille is a great classic, with an orientation table not to be missed out on. A loop trail of around 9 km with a 700-metre elevation gain – a 3½-hour walk. Joining the trail at the Palafour Chairlift arrival cuts 1¼ hours off the time required.

At this level, you can see the hollow needle, an unusual arch constituting another geological curiosity along the route. On the other side of the valley, the panorama extends over the Grande Sassière Nature Reserve with left to right: the Rocher de la Davie (3,157 m in altitude), the Grande Sassière (3,747 m in altitude), the glacier of Rhême-Golette, the Tsanteleina (3,602 m in altitude), the Aiguille du Dôme (3,028 m in altitude).

In the heart of Vanoise National Park, the guardian welcomes you to an old sheepfold refurbished in 1985. Just above the refuge is the dry lake of Glière. Lots of marmots. Reservations are preferred. We are accessible from the path leading to Notre-Dame des Vernettes, both during the day and in the evening. The chalet is just a 5-minute walk from the Parchey car park.

At the foot of the Parchey chairlift on the way to Notre Dame des Vernettes, stop at the Kitz. You can enjoy Austrian and Alpine specialties, charcuterie and cheese platters, and homemade desserts in a warm atmosphere.

A section of the GR®5 linking Lake Geneva to Menton, the Refuge du Col du Palet was originally used to house soldiers rather than hikers. Overlookink a small mountain lake, this refuge of the Vanoise national park, on the GR5 and the Tour de la Vallaisonnay, proposes a great site seeing on the 3 highest peaks of Savoie.

Located in the heart of the Parc de la Vanoise in an old sheepfold converted into a refuge, at an altitude of 2145m, it benefits from a protected environment in the heart of the alpine fauna and flora allowing the observation of large mammals and birds of prey. The refuge is privately run. It is located on the "Tarentaise" side of the Vanoise National Park, on the GR5, at the edge of the PLagne lake, source of the Ponthurin. You will go up between the Mont-Pourri massif, its glaciers and the waterfalls that flow down from it, and the Aliet massif. The GR 5 passes 10 minutes from the refuge and links it to the Col du Palet and Tignes. The refuge is open and guarded permanently from mid-June to mid-September. (no winter refuge). How to get there : - from Peisey-Nancroix and the Parc de Rosuel refuge-gate (car parks, shuttles from Landry - SNCF station and Peisey, refuge, catering, via ferrata), in 2h30 (average time) of walking on a good path on the left or right bank of the Ponthurin, - from Les Arcs and the Mont Pourri refuge (two hours), - from Tignes-le-Lac (3 hours via the Col du Palet refuge), - from the Martin refuge (via the Col de la Sachette or the Tourne), - from the Champagny-en-Vanoise valley (4 hours from the Plaisance refuge via the Plan Séry pass or the Aimes pass). This refuge has a capacity of 40 people and belongs to the commune of Landry. Francis, the muleteer, also offers you his donkeys for hire for your walks. Contact him, 2 km before the Rosuel car park. NB: Dogs, kept on a lead, are allowed from Rosuel to the refuge (but not beyond), provided they climb up the left bank of the Ponthurin. The refuge is ideally situated for mountain fishing enthusiasts, on the banks of the Lac de la Plagne, a beautiful torrent, ideal for fly fishing or fishing for trout and salmon. The hut is a depository for the day fishing cards of the Société de la Gaule de l'Ormente. Fishing is open on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and public holidays; fishing for dead or live fish is prohibited. Rates are different for holders of a fishing permit or not. Open from 19 June to 18 September 2022.

Since then, the shepherd who farms the alpine pastures still stops there, but it is also guarded throughout the summer period, providing overnight and catering services for about 40 guests. Thanks to the two dairy cows on site, the refuge caretakers offer fresh dairy products daily.

This shelter, kept from the end of June to the beginning of September (providing food and accommodation), remains open for self-catering for the rest of the year. Before becoming the property of the Vanoise National Park in 1972, it was a former alpine chalet which was built from materials extracted on site starting in 1932. It was home to the Alpage de la Martin for a period of thirty years during which Beaufort, Sérac and butter were produced.

It is a charming little mountain campsite where silence is required. There's nothing like it to admire the fabulous setting available to you. The campsite "Les Richardes" is located in Val d'Isère, a renowned mountain resort, both for its magnificent winter ski area and for its fantastic summer setting. Indeed, Val d'Isère is located in the heart of the Alps, in the middle of the mountains with exceptional fauna and flora. In the morning you can enjoy the sunrise while having lunch, and in the evening, while having dinner, you will contemplate its sunset. The "Les Richardes" campsite is located one kilometer from the city center, far enough not to suffer from the inconveniences of the city, but close enough to quickly access its infrastructures. To get around the station, you can take a free bus service, which operates continuously all day. A supermarket is 400 meters from the campsite.

The three wooden chalets that make up the Refuge de la Leisse were built starting in 1970, on a glacial rock bar at 2,500 m in altitude. They are located under the Grande Motte glacier, which gives the landscape a wild and mineral character.
