Starting from Graulhet, this signposted circuit will take you to the heights of Graulhet. With sublime views over the surrounding countryside, the Black Mountain and the Cocagne plain. With the added bonus of the coolness of the Nabeillou and Miquelou lakes.

A fast, peachy loop, a stone's throw from the city, for a cardio workout after work or an introductory ride. Even if my gradients can make you smile for an experienced mountain biker, taken at his own pace, they can hurt a lot... This loop is a more accessible variant of the circuit: "le grand tour par les collines". The start is the same and the two circuits split shortly before the "métairie haute" where this track leads directly to Canguilan without having to loop around in Briatexte. We therefore enjoy the small valley of the stream of Assou at a lower cost, always following the markings. We finish calmly, after joining the D84, by descending the ridges overlooking the Notre-Dame stream. Under the Canguilan antenna, the route this time proposes to remain always to the west of the D84. The return to Graulhet is downhill.

This trail takes you through a landscape typical of the Tarn valley: fields, vineyards and woods. There are plenty of views of the surrounding villages and, on clear days, even of the Pyrenees. There are regions where the pigeon is king. This bird (Lo colomb, in Occitan) was prized for its meat, but also for its droppings, which were used as a powerful fertiliser in the Gaillacois vineyards and fields. Many ‘colombièrs’ (dovecotes) have also left their mark on the Tarn landscape. You will see several around the village. There is a shorter alternative route from point 3 that joins the itinerary between points 5 and 6. The return journey takes you past the 19th-century Château de Labastidié.

The Toulouse-Lautrec museum is located in one of the most beautiful corners of Albi: the Berbie Palace. The Palace is one of the Episcopal City’s major sites with World Heritage status. The museum is recognised internationally for the works of this artist from Albi. TOULOUSE-LAUTREC, A UNIQUE COLLECTION IN THE WORLD The world’s most important public collection of the works of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, including 31 posters by the lithograph painter, is to be found in Albi. There are also no fewer than 219 paintings, 563 drawings and 183 lithographs displayed in the museum. Early works, major portraits, paintings of brothels, prints from the world of entertainment, advertisements and later works are presented there, giving this museum an exceptional collection. Plunge 800 years into the past and discover medieval Occitania in the 13th century. The Castelroc site, perched atop a rocky spur, overlooks the wild Dadou valley (23km from Albi).

The Old Alby house is the soul of the Episcopal City, one of the major symbols of Albi’s historic centre. The ‘Albi Heritage’ Association keeps the history of this iconic site alive. A MEDIEVAL HOUSE This brick and timber framed house has retained the characteristics of an old medieval house in the historic centre: half-timbered and corbelled to gain more surface area plus an open-air attic called ‘the soleilhou’ (pronounced "the solayoo"...). The house is situated in the heart of intertwining narrow streets, with the backdrop of the omnipresent cathedral. The ground floor is reminiscent of old stalls and a staircase leads to the upper floors, where there is a permanent exhibition on the youth of the Albi painter, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. The Berbie Palace houses the collections of this world-famous painter. The second floor is a video room dedicated to temporary exhibitions. ALBI HERITAGE HISTORY INFORMATION POINT Throughout the year, various events take place to the delight of visitors from around the world. Conferences, guided tours, exhibitions… The ‘Albi Heritage’ Association has a history Information Point open to the public. The site has retained is charm despite major renovation works in 1971. The Albi painter Raphaël CORDOBA dedicated 25 years of his life to pay tribute to the greatest painters in history from the 14th to the 20th centuries. 65 paintings are exhibited in the round tower of the Hotel de Saunal, a former Renaissance merchant’s mansion located close to the Sainte-Cécile Cathedral and the cloister of the Saint Salvi Collegiate Church. A MUSEUM FOR ALL : A HUMANIST APPROACH “A Museum for All” : that was Raphaël Cordoba's aim, who wanted to share his passion and respect for the greatest artists with as many people as possible. He is driven by the desire to interest visitors in art. His personal experience led him to capture the attention of children and teenagers and to reveal their artistic talent. Integrated into the Episcopal City listed as a World Heritage Site (UNESCO), these two buildings harmoniously combine different architectural styles. The cloister garden is a real haven of peace in the heart of the old town. Free. This Cloister, built in 1270, is a small haven of peace offering an invitation to tranquillity and observation... the doors we can see under the arcades led directly to the canons’ cells, which are now apartments. The remaining cloister wing and the Romanesque arches are linked to the Gothic capitals which are carved withcharacters, animals or vegetation. In the centre of the cloister, a simple garden is arranged where aromatic and medicinal herbs are cultivated. It is one of the five vegetable gardens created by the City of Albi where vegetables, condiments and herbs are made available to passers-by: a pooled plant and edible heritage.

The collegiate Church of Saint Salvi, named after the 1st bishop of the city of Albi in the 6th century, has stood proudly at the corner of Sainte-Cécile square since the 11th century. This monument is one of the largest Romanesque churches in Albi. A visit to this monument completes a historic tour of Vieil Alby. Feel your curiosity increasing as you climb the stairs, the cloister is there, nestled in the heart of the old city. THE COLLEGIATE During the 11th century, the foundations of a white stone church were added to the presumed burial site of Saint Salvi. Note how the mixture of stone and brick coincides with the change of materials in the 13th century. Looking at the building, it is possible to see the various architectural phases and the switch from Roman to Gothic. Inside the church, 6 large paintings, donated by the Consuls of Albi in 1725, relate the life of Saint Salvi and the history of the city. At the far end of the church, under the Moucherel Organ, a set of human-sized sculptures “Christ with links” are full of surprising details and colours.
