In this region of garrigue, discover the place of man in the landscape, the role of farmers who shape and maintain the environment by keeping nature open through crops (cereals, vines) and livestock (sheep or horses). This type of agriculture is a key factor in land-use planning and the prevention of natural hazards such as wildfire. Whether you're a seasoned walker or a curious stroller, this trail will take you through the vineyards to learn more about the people and wines of the Durfort cooperative.

As in the rest of the Cévennes, sericulture developed in Monoblet in the early 18th century. It declined from the mid-19th century onwards, leaving behind a legacy of buildings and landscapes. The route comprises 20 stations forming a loop around Monoblet. Enter the village from Saint-Hippolyte-du-Fort and Durfort. Pass in front of the town hall and continue along the main street for 200 m to the parking lot opposite the octagonal temple. A LAND OF CONTRASTS The commune of Monoblet covers 2,133 hectares, 1,400 of which are woodland and coppice, and offers a contrasting landscape between wooded reliefs of oak and chestnut, and valleys where agricultural activity continues to enliven the landscape. This relief is explained by the geological formation that divides the commune into two distinct areas. To the north-west, the southern end of the granitic Cévennes, home to chestnut trees, and to the south, the limestone garrigues and marls which form a zone of ecological, faunistic and floristic interest (ZNIEFF), named "Lapiaz de Curens", bordering Saint-Hippolyte-du-Fort. THE IMPACT OF SERICULTURE ON MONOBLET'S LANDSCAPE The silk and sericulture industries were among the population's primary resources, especially in the mid-19th century, which explains the presence of numerous silkworm nurseries and mulberry trees, whose leaves were the only food for silkworms. In the 1970s, sericulture was revived in this village. village. TRADE AGREEMENTS On February 10, 1713, manufacturers from the main towns in the Cévennes - Saint-Hippolyte-du-Fort, Anduze, Ganges, Lasalle, Sauve, Le Vigan, Monoblet and others - signed an agreement which, with the blessing of the authorities, linked them to Nîmes merchants and manufacturers. In this way, the towns in the hinterland safeguarded their production sector and ensured their domination over the rural manufacturers in their respective areas of influence, but in return, they gave up their desire to follow independent paths and willingly agreed to join the Nîmes factory. From then on, their makers could continue to work in their place of residence, on condition that they were accepted as masters in the Nîmes community, submitted to its regulations and contributed to its expenses. Immerse yourself in a history as you walk from the banks of the river Gardon to Mas Soubeyran, a museum of French Protestantism. You will be able to enjoy far-reaching views onto the Puechs, Mont Aigoual, Mont Liron and, on clear days, even the Alps. From the car park, turn right onto the D 50, cross the Pont des Camisards bridge and turn left towards Le Travès / Paussan. Then head for Mas Soubeyran via La Roquette. At Mas Soubeyran, take the path on the right to reach La Baumelle gully, which leads to the mas (farm) of the same name. Walk past the mas on its right and continue on the track to join up with the road. Turn right onto the road and after 250 m turn left on a path towards La Rouvière. At La Rouvière, turn left onto a fire road (DFCI) and take a path on the left that goes downhill into Roquefeuille gully. Cross the bridge, take the road on the left and then a small path on the right that will lead you back to Mialet.

Best done in the morning ! Make a little detour to the village of Soudorgues and enjoy the cool waters of the Salindrenque river before you return to Lasalle.  From Lasalle, take the D153 towards St-Jean du Gard/Ste-Croix de Caderle for about 2 km. Turn left on to the D153d, towards Les Cabrols, Les Horts.2 At Les Horts, turn right onto the D39, then quickly turn left onto the D271 to Soudorgues, La Coste. Continue to the Pont de la Laine bridge. Return to the village of Lasalle on the D341a and the D39. Possibility to start from Soudorgues.

Ces parcours permettent de découvrir de nombreux sites et villages, des grands causses aux monts et vallées Espace Cyclosport Massif de l'Aigoual : Au départ du village de Lasalle, passez sous le château du Solier (monument à l'histoire singulière) direction de Ste-Croix-de-Caderle, en démarrant par une bonne en montée. Puis bifurquez à gauche en passant par les hameaux Les Cabrols et Les Horts. Suivre ensuite la direction de Soudorgues par une belle montée en lacets. A Soudorgues, le plus dur est fait, il ne vous reste qu’à vous laissez glisser jusqu’à La Coste, et descendre par une route un peu "cabossée" en direction de Lasalle. Soyez vigilants. A la belle saison, une pause agréable dans la rivière "La Salindrenque" s'impose. At “Fontaine de la Croix”, turn left and follow the signs to  “Bosquet du Souvenir”,  “Rocher de la Lune”,  “Col du Lièvre”,  “Col de l’Oursine”. Turn left towards “Lasalle” via  “Pont de Fer”. Take the small passage across the bridge and follow the river, passing alongside the sports fields, then continue to  “Pont Vieux”. Turn left to return to the junction at  “Fontaine de la Croix”. Return via Rue de la Croix to reach the Tourist Office again.

A walk over draille (drovers’ road) and paths, through chestnut orchards and holm oak groves, offering fine views over the Cévennes ! Signposts will guide you all along this route. In the description below, the signposted place names and/or directions are given in bold italics between quotation marks : Starting from the car park “Route vieille” in Sainte-Croix de Caderle, go uphill to the village (with a there-and-back detour to the viewpoint indicator), then to “Mont Brion” via: “La Graussille” and “La Malaygue”. At “Mont Brion”, go downhill to: “Col de Briontet”. Then return to “Sainte Croix de Caderle” via: “Le Tourel”, "Sainte croix de Caderle",  and finally to the car park at “Route Vieille”. Tornac, à la croisée des routes autrefois importantes c'est un lieu marquant de l'histoire des Camisards. Le château dont l'origine remonte au 11ème siècle par sa tour carrée - en ruines depuis 1792 - fait l'objet d'une nouvelle restauration. Dressé sur un rocher, il offre un panorama intéressant sur la plaine du Gardon qu'il domine. Dans les environs proches, l'église romane St Baudile et ses cyprès a été parfaitement restaurée. Accès libre (sous la responsabilité de chacun) au château par un chemin caillouteux mais carrossable.

The Parc des Cordeliers is the former garden of the Franciscan convent, also called Cordeliers, with an area of 4 hectares. Its main entrance is on Avenue Rollin. The Parc des Cordeliers is very appreciated for its calm and the beauty of its species as well as its freshness thanks to its various springs and ponds. Following the paths, walkers will discover the typical trees of the region but also less common species such as the Himalayan cedar, the Virginia tulip tree, the Japanese cryptomeria, the purple beech or the Canary oak which is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful specimens in Europe. A botanical trail, available free of charge at the reception desk of the Anduze tourist information office, allows you to discover this park. There is the Bust of Clara d'Anduze, the Plaque of the poet Florian, the poet and writer Henri Barbusse (1873-1935) and the resistance fighter Marcel Bonnafoux (1910-1942) as well as the war memorial. La vieille ville a conservé un caractère médiéval avec ses rues étroites et sinueuses, ainsi que ses fontaines dont la fontaine Pagode, avec ses belles tuiles vernissées. La richesse du Patrimoine d’Anduze se retrouve en différents édifices classés Monuments Historiques ou inscrits à son inventaire : La tour de l’Horloge : située sur le Plan de Brie, elle date du XIVe siècle. Seul vestige visible des fortifications, elle fut épargnée en 1629 par Richelieu en raison de son statut d’horloge de ville. Après sa récente rénovation intérieure, elle est aujourd’hui entièrement accessible au public. Inscrite à l’inventaire des Monuments Historiques en 1978. Le temple de l’Eglise Réformée : construit en 1823 sur l’emplacement de la cour des anciennes casernes, le temple d’Anduze est l’un des plus grands de France. Classé Monuments Historiques en 1979. La somptueuse fontaine Pagode datée de 1649. De style oriental, avec sa petite toiture aux tuiles vernissées, elle est classée Monuments Historiques depuis 1914. Centre régional du négoce de la soie et de la laine au XVIe siècle, la ville est au cours du XVIIe siècle bien intégrée à l’économie marchande. La corporation des tuiliers et potiers tira profit des retombées de cette prospérité. C’est à la fin du XVIIIe siècle qu’Anduze s’est spécialisée dans la confection des vases d’Anduze et jarres à huile. A voir également, le parc des Cordeliers, ancien grand jardin d’un couvent du même nom vendu comme bien national à la Révolution et disparu aujourd’hui. Very old mills for producing oil, wool and flour border the Valat de Baumelle gully. Note the mill pond (Occitan: gorga) at the edge of the path and backing onto the mill. The inhabitants of Luziers laid out their vegetable plots on the many terraces you can still see on either side of the path. The uppermost terraces – the “dry gardens”  – were reserved for crops needing little water: broad beans, lentils, peas, etc. Other vegetables were planted on terraces that lay closer to the waterway.
