La Tournette sits at 2353 meters on the lake like a sleeping giant, the Bauges massif on the other side rivals in beauty and makes walkers want to conquer new heights! (some ideas for routes also offered on ViAnnecy) This hike is almost accessible all year round, however we do not recommend it after heavy rains, use trekking poles, especially for the descent. A lovely walk mostly through the trees, perfect for a hot summer's day. Water is a constant theme, as you discover the waterfall, the bubbling "giants' cooking pots" and the views overlooking Lac d'Annecy. This family hike takes you to one of the many natural sites to discover around Lake Annecy: the Cascade d'Angon. Walkers of all ages can enjoy the pleasant experience of cooling off with droplets from the 60-metre-high waterfalls. The route follows the torrents coming directly from La Tournette, creating characteristic eddies as they carve through the rock on their way down. These are the famous "Marmites de Géant" (Giant's potholes) which, like the bridge over the Nant d'Oy (Pont des Fées) supposedly built by fairies in the past, are sure to arouse the curiosity of little ones along the way. For their part, the older children will be able to admire a number of beautiful viewpoints over the lake, La Tournette and the Dents de Lanfon.

The belvedere is located at 1150 m altitude and offers a bird's eye view of the Lake Annecy. A path up to the bar "La Pricaz" leads to a second belvedere with an unobstructed view of the Bauges, Les Dents de Lanfon and the Tournette peaks.

The river Eau Morte and the Lake enabled the development of Verthier, one of the most ancient villages of Doussard. This picturesque spot inspired painters such as Prosper Dunant and Firmin Salabert. A route allows you to go back to a time when the old bridge over l'Eau Morte was a toll, when the watermills were fueled by mill races using the force of water, when the boat was the means of transport to cross the lake. It allows you to discover traditional housing, Notre Dame de la Nativité chapel, to know the real bourgeois house.

The Bout du Lac nature reserve is a rare, unspoilt area on the shores of Lake Annecy, inviting you to discover a protected natural area. The site is accessible to the mobility-impaired and hearing-impaired. The Bout du Lac nature reserve is a wetland area crossed by two rivers, the Eau Morte and the Ire, which feed Lake Annecy. This marshy area to the south of the lake is an exceptional habitat. Wet forests, reedbeds, wet meadows and alkaline peat bogs make up this ecosystem, offering a diversity that is conducive to the establishment of a large number of common, rare or sensitive animal and plant species. The site's major interest lies in the presence of the underwater herbarium, which supports the development of a fauna of invertebrates and fish, and also in the reed bed, which is a refuge for the common toad, a protected area for the European beaver and for the reptiles of Haute-Savoie. Breeding birds such as the reed bunting, spotted locustella and three warblers can be found in the higher parts of the reedbed. The bittern sometimes completes this list. Wintering birds (tufted duck, common pochard and ruddy duck) spend the cold season here in good conditions. Next on the list are the willow and alder thickets, the pedunculate oak woodlands, the arable and hay meadows and the gallery forests along the watercourses. The remarkable diversity of these biotopes supports a remarkable flora. Protected species include gentian pneumonanthe, snake's tongue, water ragwort, sweet-smelling orchid and Swiss woodruff.

Inhabited by the same family since the 11th century and built between the 12th and 20th centuries, it still contains its rich variety of furniture and period decoration. Nestled on a rocky outcrop, it offers a sublime view of the lake and the landscape. In the 12th century, the castle had only three high square towers linked by sentry walks and a large courtyard where the villagers found refuge in times of trouble. During the Renaissance, the austere castle was transformed into a place of residence. Then, at the end of the 18th century, a facade was built, opening up a view of the lake. Then, at the end of the 19th century, under the impetus of the great-grandfather of the current owners, René de Menthon, the castle began its great metamorphosis towards that romantic subtlety which makes up its charm and even its mystery...
