This Arv'vélo route allows you to discover by road bike part of the Chamonix-Léman Véloroute route. He only uses roads and avoids dirt paths. Numerous stages punctuate the route, notably in Sallanches, where it is possible to visit the Bourg de St Martin with its Old Bridge, listed as a Historic Monument, and its baroque church. You won't pass very far from the Ilettes lakes if you want to take a little detour to swim or take a break. Behind its quiet and robust appearance, the church of Passy shelters nineteen centuries of history: Roman ex-voto, Romanesque bell tower-porch, 15th century choir, baroque and neo-classical decorations... It invites you on an extraordinary journey through time! The old lady was first mentioned in a deed of gift in 1012. However, the building was altered twice, in the 15th and 17th centuries. While the exterior walls are decorated with a sober gypsum plaster, the interior of the church is more richly decorated. In the choir, a superb altarpiece with twisted columns awaits you, where an 18th century painting represents Saint Peter surrounded by two important ecclesiastical figures of the Savoyard Church: Saint François de Sales and Blessed Amédée IX, Duke of Savoy. The Arve River springs from the Col de Balme in the Mont-Blanc range. It crosses the hamlet of St Martin then follows several valleys before rushing into the Rhône. The Sallanche River is a tributary of the Arve.

First mentioned in 1225, this bridge probably existed even earlier. Until 1880 it was the only crossing point to access Sallanches. It has had Historic Monument status since 1934 and only became a pedestrian bridge in 1974.

This small church, rebuilt in 1681, harmoniously combines the Baroque decor of the 18th century with the Neoclassical elements of the 19th century. Dating from 1622, this gate is all that remains of the Capucins Convent, which was built in 1620. After its closure in 1793 and its demolition following a fire in 1840, the gate was moved below the walls of Château Brêches, on Place Grenette. This monastery was built as early as 1620, originally on the site of the current Charles Albert Square. At that time, it was located outside the city limits. It was closed during the Revolution (1793) and then demolished after the fire of 1840

This covered market with its columns and granite floor from Combloux was built in 1868. It was formerly the grain market.

"Sun and Mountains" is a sculpture whose base designs the four cardinal points (Alexander Calder, 1973). This monumental sculpture is made of steel plates, riveted and painted. It consists of two plans that draw arabesques in space and intersect a point with the sun in its centre.

REFUGE CLOSED FOR WORK Under the majestic Aiguille de Varan, this refuge overlooks the Arve valley. It faces a stupendous panorama: the Mont Blanc and the Aravis mountains. Easily accessible, it is open for gourmet breaks and cozy nights. The refuge is part of a group of mountain chalets on the side of the Aiguille de Varan at 2544m. Located in Passy, on the south side of the Fiz mountain range opposite Mont Blanc, dominating the Arve valley by some 1000m. This is the starting point for many hikes but also a a great place to stay over (Unique view of the Mont Blanc). 40 minutes from the refuge, you can climb the recent climbing routes in the sector of Barmerousse. This site is also renowned to paragliders. There are 3 take-off zones nearby, the nearest less than 5 minutes away. There are 3 different landing points 1000m below. In good weather, dinners can be taken outside on the terrace watching the sunset. Breakfast can be enjoyed at sunrise. We welcome you to our mountain refuge located at an altitude of 1495 m, beneath the Pointe Percée (2750 m), a 1.5-hour walk from the Burzier parking lot (Sallanches). We offer a simple, homemade menu, with a daily changing dish. We have a capacity of 54 places (5 dormitories and 2 private rooms).
