This 22 km stage has lots of different landscapes and atmospheres along the route. Starting in Saint-Martin de Bréhal, follow the promenade overlooking the blue flag beach to Coudeville-sur-Mer, then walk along the dunes to Donville-les-Bains. At low tide, the beaches here are dotted with stakes, known as “bouchots”, on which mussels are farmed (please don’t take any). You have a view of the Chausey Islands in the distance. Head up the path towards Granville, via the Villa des Rhumbs with its breathtaking sea views. Take the opportunity to visit the Christian Dior Museum, with its themed exhibitions and gardens. Next, take the steps down the cliff to arrive at the Plat Gousset promenade and its beach which is very popular with locals. Visit this seaside resort known as the Monaco of the North, with its lovely restaurants and shops. Next to the casino, take the steps up to the Haute Ville, the old walled town. The path takes you round the Pointe du Roc to Cap Lihou, before going back down to the fishing harbour, commercial port and marina. This is where the ferries leave for the Chausey Islands. The path continues on the other side of Granville. Head down towards Saint-Nicolas beach and walk by the sea (in case of very high tides, take the D911 instead.) Before the stream that flows across the beach, turn left onto Rue des Mielles then into Saint-Pair-sur-Mer. You’ll head away from the sea and uphill towards Kairon and finally Bouillon, the destination of this stage.

Start: 1 La Lande, 50290 Bréhal Finish: 5 Route de la Forge, 50530 Champeaux Just a few kilometers from your starting point is Havre de la Vanlée. This harbour separates the Saint-Martin peninsula from the land. It creates a stunning landscape of salt-laden grasslands, salt pans and salt meadows occupied by sheep. At high tide, the sea covers everything... Including the road running through it. This remarkable site, listed in 1988, offers exceptional light changes.

This stage will offer you breathtaking views of the Merveille, the Mont-Saint-Michel. Before Carolles-Plage, at the Pignon-Butor platform, you will enjoy a panorama going from Granville to Cancale. You will then cross the Lude valley and reach the port of Le Lude. This wild and dangerous cove was used as a clandestine port during the chouannerie and by smugglers. At the edge of the cliff, you will meet the Vauban hut, located on the site of a former guard house, a relay for surveillance and optical signals between Mont-Saint-Michel and Granville. Until the beginning of the 20th century, it housed customs officers on patrol along the coast. You will then arrive in Saint-Jean-le-Thomas.

Go for a walk along the water, close to the blue waves. The relief is soft. The Hauteville beach, the harbour of Regnéville, the village of Montmartin-Sur-Mer, the harbour of La Vanlée, the dunes of Annoville... The circuit leads you to the sea.

The route continues along the coast until you reach the seaside resort of Hauteville-sur-Mer, which you will cross by its seawall. You will then cross areas with sandy bottoms, called honey, where carrots are cultivated, fertilized by seaweed, called kelp, which are highly appreciated for their tender flesh. Saltworks, evoke the work of salt which developed from the VIIIth century but the Revolution, by abolishing the internal customs, delivered the white salt harvested by the sauniers to the competition of grey salts, cheaper. The sauniers survived until the 19th century and then became extinct. In the area of Coudeville and Donville, the beaches are bristling with piles, called bouchots, driven into the ground at the bottom of the tidal zone. The mussel farmers raise bouchot mussels there. The stage ends in Granville, a fishing, commercial and leisure port, the upper town is surrounded by ramparts. You will be able to visit Christian Dior's childhood home, transformed into a museum.

A short distance from Cérences, you can visit the Benedictine Abbey of Hambye, founded in the 12th century on the banks of the Siena river. Passing through Equilly, you will be amazed by the Logis and its medieval architectural and landscape ensemble. You will continue on your way to the village of La Haye-Pesnel.

The Route des Chiffonniers is a hiking route linking the coast (Saint-Pair sur Mer) to the Sée valley. The 84 km long route criss-crosses the inland areas of the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel, crossing varied landscapes between sea, hedged farmland, undergrowth, valleys... Another way to discover the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel! The Route des Chiffonniers brings to life the roads used by the ragpickers to transport the sail and cloth scraps from the ports to the mills of the Sée valley where they were transformed into paper. To cover these 84 km, be accompanied by pack donkeys! Ideal companions for carrying luggage and leaving in total autonomy, the donkeys can also carry children and make the hike accessible to all.

This 18 km stage takes you to Saint-Martin-de-Bréhal via the seaside resort of Hauteville-sur-Mer. Before leaving, enjoy a stroll around Regnéville-sur-Mer, a former fishing village with old-world charm. Don’t miss the lime kilns, a legacy of the dynamic activity here in the past. From Regnéville, take the D49 before joining the D156. Carry on along the D73 to the car park by the beach. At the entrance to the car park, take a left and cross the field. Between the fences, the path takes you to the sea. From here, walk along the seawall on the left to Rue des Garennes to reach the seafront heading into Hauteville-sur-Mer. This lovely seaside resort is particularly popular with families for its different activities, including watersports. Cross the resort walking along the promenade, then turn left towards the sailing school. Next, take Rue d’Annoville before turning onto the path through the dunes, on the right after the bend. You’ll head slightly away from the sea. At the car park, the path continues on the road to the left for 600 m to the hamlet of Les Peupliers. In this area, you’ll cross the “Mielles”, sandy soils where carrots are grown and fertilised with seaweed. These carrots are renowned for their soft texture. Carry on to the right on the path edged by poplars and then cross the D220 on a small road. Carry on along the gravel track, going round a wood and past fields of vegetable crops. You’ll arrive in La Planche Guillemette. After the Mielles, welcome to Les Salines. Salt was harvested here from the 8th century until the 19th century. Take the road to Les Salines, going over a bridge, then turn right onto Route du Moulin. Next, leave this road to take the path that goes along La Vanlée inlet. Carry on along the small road until you get to the fascinating tidal causeway. Crossing the inlet towards the sea, the road is completely submerged during spring tides with high coefficients. Next, turn left through the saltmarshes after the sheepfolds. Go through a metal gate and walk on the sandy path. Once you get to the Ecurie des Mielles, turn right towards the sailing school. Built from local stone and roofed with zinc to resist the wind, Agon Lighthouse has been a guiding light for mariners since 1856. The lighthouse is intimately linked with the history of Regnéville Harbour, which once enjoyed an annual traffic of more than three hundred ships from diverse origins such as England, Norway and France.
