A beautiful hike starting from Montivilliers for a discovery of the north of the Le Havre agglomeration Stage of the famous road of the Abbeys, Montivilliers owes its prosperity and its name to its prestigious abbey of women, an originality among the many rather male Norman abbeys. The ancient "Monasterii Villare" (the monastery village) which gave its name to the town is one of the great monastic foundations of the 7th century in the lower Seine valley. Throughout the Middle Ages, the Abbey of Montivilliers had a great influence. Monastic life ceased in 1792, following the French Revolution. The Abbey then became the seat of the District and of the Popular Society, prison and garrison. In the 19th century, it housed a cotton mill, then a sugar refinery and finally a brewery.

This 5.2 km circuit (including 3.6 km on footpaths) takes you on a stroll through wooded hills and valleys.

A former meander of the Seine River, the Marais Vernier covers 4,500 hectares and is home to one of the largest peat bogs in France, recognised as a wetland of international importance under the Ramsar Convention. The trail crosses communal land, follows a small canal and runs along the Dutch Dike (Digue des Hollandais), offering an unusual view of the Tancarville Bridge. To the south, wooded hills form the horizon, while to the north the Seine River is never far away. The marsh is a paradise for birdwatchers, located on a major migratory corridor of the Seine estuary. During periods of flooding, birdlife observations can be particularly spectacular. Waterproof boots may prove useful! The village of Marais Vernier itself is full of charm, with its thatched cottages and traditional half-timbered buildings reflecting an architectural heritage closely linked to this unique wetland landscape. From Honfleur, discover the Pays d'Auge by reaching Deauville, via Pont-l'Evêque. Part of this itinerary of the Seine by bike is on the green lane and the rest is on the shared lane. I'm delighted to welcome you to my family home, which has been converted to accommodate travelers. Quietly situated on the GR21, you have direct access on foot to the prestigious cliffs. We offer several types of rooms. Bedroom 1: On the second floor, queen-size bed, private shower room and toilet. Bedroom 2: Ground floor, queen-size bed, shared shower room and toilet. Room 3: Ground floor, double bed, shared shower room and toilet. Dormitory : Second floor, 5 single beds. Breakfast is included in the price of the night and is served between 8 and 10 am. It consists of tea or coffee, apple juice, bread, butter and jam, cereals with vegetable or cow's milk. For the dormitory, a sheet and pillowcase are provided. Bring your own towel and sleeping bag. If this is not possible for you, a supplement of 5? will be charged for the upkeep of the bedding. My dog Sho7 is present in the house. He is a border-collie-labrador cross who is very gentle and loves cheese crusts.
