Built during the 17th century, this chapel is richly adorned with paintings and models of ships offered ex voto by sailors. The esplanade bordering the chapel offers fine panoramic views of the Seine estuary, the port of Le Havre and the Pont de Normandie (Normandy Bridge).

Honfleur (formerly Honna Flow then Honnefleu, Scandinavian origin of the name) is a city that documents mention as early as the 11th century when it was one of the important villages of the Duchy of Normandy. As the etymology of its name tells us, the development of Honfleur and the port coincided with the Scandinavian invasions and the settlement of the Normans (the Vikings) from the 9th century in the Bay of the Seine. Its privileged geographical situation, as an estuary port and a seaport, gives it many advantages and determines its double vocation for the centuries to come: the defence of the royal river and the start of great adventures on the ocean sea.

Located in Honfleur, the indoor and air-conditioned Naturospace offers an astonishing journey in an Amazonian-style biotope where tropical butterflies fly free. It is home to around a hundred species from South America, South-East Asia and Africa. The plant collections, an essential ingredient in reproducing a natural environment, include several, often rare species, particularly from the Acanthus, Araceous, Heliconia or Orchid families. Particular attention is paid to floral diversity and the presentation of useful tropical plants (fruits and spices). Multicoloured tropical birds can also be seen flying freely. Visit lasts 1 hour.

The houses are home to a scenographic and musical trail that pays tribute to the musician and composer Erik Satie, born here in 1866. Located alongside the Old Harbour, the Musée de la Marine boasts a collection of model ships, objects and souvenirs of the town's maritime history. The ethnography museum presents reproductions of typical Normandy interiors, wardrobes, buffets, objects, headdresses and costumes.

The Church of St. Catherine, dating from the second half of the 15th century, replaced an older stone church which was destroyed during the Hundred Years' War. It was built by the town’s inhabitants after the English occupants left. With the limited resources available at the time, they used wood from the nearby Touques forest as the principal raw material and they applied their naval construction skills. Listed as a historic monument in 1879, it is the largest church in France to be entirely made of wood and with a separate belfry.

The Musée d'Ethnographie et d'Art Populaire (Museum of Ethnography and Folk Art) is housed in a beautiful half-timbered house on rue de la Prison. Reconstituted Norman interiors (furniture, objects, costumes, headdresses...) offer a journey back in time to discover folk arts and traditions.

A true landmark of Honfleur, the Sainte-Catherine bell tower stands proudly in the square of the same name. Entirely made of wood, this bell tower, unique in Normandy, was built in the 15th and 16th centuries by shipwrights using inverted hull techniques. Separated from the church to protect the sanctuary from fire caused by lightning, its Norman Gothic architecture and half-timbered facades are truly impressive. Classified as a historic monument, it now houses an exhibition of religious objects. A must-see during your stay in Honfleur to discover the town's authentic heritage.

Saint-Léonard Church, a Gothic jewel in the heart of Honfleur Located at the entrance to the historic town center, the Church of Saint-Léonard is one of Honfleur?s most emblematic monuments. Built in the late 15th century on the ruins of an earlier edifice destroyed during the Hundred Years? War, its elegant, flamboyant Gothic facade is adorned with fine carvings and a remarkable, richly-decorated portal. Its octagonal bell tower, rebuilt in the 18th century, rises above the local rooftops, providing a unique visual landmark from the surrounding streets. Inside, the soft light of modern stained-glass windows plays on the stone vaults, highlighting the varied furnishings that bear witness to the faith and history of the Honfleurais. A lively place of worship, Saint-Léonard hosts concerts, services and tours throughout the year.
