Continue along the chemin des Prairies and turn left. At the Mas de Baudran sign, turn right towards the Bois de Clapisse. The extracted shell limestone, soft and porous and easy to cut, was widely used for the construction of local houses and for works such as the inner galleries of the Nîmes arena. To build their houses, the inhabitants of Junas had the privilege of collecting the stone off-cuts, hence their massive appearance. Over the years, stone cutters and sculptors have left their mark on the Carrières and the village.

From Fontanès to Caveirac, you pass orchards and olive groves, vineyards and meadows, with hills covered in holm oaks and pine forests and dense garrigue. You'll see manades (bull farms) and, just before Sommières, a splendid panorama of the Pic Saint-Loup. From here, you can access a number of villages and tourist sites in the Pays de Sommières. Departures are possible from Sommières and Calvisson. Unlike a cycle path, which is reserved exclusively for cyclists, a voie verte is a facility reserved for non-motorized traffic: bicycles, pedestrians, rollerbladers and sometimes horseback riders. The Vaunage greenway is built on a former railroad line. Ideal for beginners, families or a leisurely stroll, set off for adventure on this unsuspected itinerary!
