For the more sporting enthusiasts of mountain bike, this complete and varied circuit is cut out for you! Departure from the parking lot of Grand Echaillon, take the direction of the Col du Lion. Always follow the MTB beacons n°52 in black and the yellow and green markings between each directional sign. Continue on the itinerary of the Grand Tour du Vercors passing by Gampaloux and then gradually start the beautiful descent to Bouvante-le-Haut. From there, continue south through Logue before going up the Toulau creek. Beware in rainy weather, some passages can be delicate and slippery until the famous Saut de la Truite At Gardiol parking lot, be careful you enter the Ambel estate, classified as a Natural Area Sensitive, regulations must be observed! Join the Ambel Refuge via the Combe de la Louvaterre and Le Verâtre. At the Pas du Gouillat, bypass the Roc de Toulau to reach the Col de la Bataille by the GR 93. Finish this magnificent loop by driving to La Pelouse de la Sausse then Echaillon sheepfold.

Ranging from wide open spaces with spectacular panoramic views to the muffled silence of winter woodlands, this trail is bound to whet your appetite for more snowshoe adventures.

This short but pleasant stroll takes you to discover the ruins of the feudal castle of Rochechinard. From the Château, a magnificent panorama over the whole valley of the Royans is offered to you. Departure from Rochechinard (parking du musée du Royans), direction Le Château 3. Take the path that also serves as a support for the route of the Grand Tour du Vercors à pied through Roches Corbières 1 then Les Cartelats 2. At the ruins of the castle, after admiring the view over the valley, continue towards Rochechinard museum by a nice little path through the boxwoods to join Les Côtes 4. The Grand Tour du Vercors à pied continues north towards Saint-Nazaire-en-Royans, while the GR of Pays des Monts du Matin arrives from the same village. From there, go down to Bois Savoyard 5 to return to the museum car park, starting point of the walk.

Join the Pas de l'Echo, partly in the footsteps of an ancient Roman road that was once the only link between Oriol and the village of Leoncel in the south. Departure from Oriol-en-Royans (parking exit south of the village), direction Léoncel and Pas de l'Echo 5. Leave the main road to go up on the right by a small path along a wall (follow the yellow and green markings). The route joins a road to the hamlets of Grippats and La Bourrelière, the walk continues through a path through woods and meadows that leads to the place called Les Merles 1. Cross the departmental road (pay attention to the cars), always following the direction of the Pas de l'Echo, climb to the hamlet of Tamée 2 and then take 200 meters on the departmental road. At the crossroads of Gagnas 3, take on the left the itinerary which gradually descends into undergrowth. Once again, cross the local road (the place called Le Bedaud 4) and a little further along a small road following the yellow and green signs towards the Pas de l'Echo. GR 9, the return to Oriol-en-Royans is done by passing successively by La Passerelle 6 then L'Usine de la Plaine 7, Les Rats and la Freydière 8 Monne and les Clefs 9 La Rousse 10, Tallard 11 and Tognon 12.

Long forest roads, very northern atmosphere on the plateau of Ambel and incredible landscapes in edge of cliffs From the parking (1085 m) created by the closing of the road, follow the snowy road D199 towards the Col de la Bataille. The trail sits quietly in the forest of Lente. After 30 minutes of progression, leave on the right the forest road of the Pionnier (1185 m). Do not take the central path that runs to the Col de la Rama (0,7 km), in short, go straight ahead. At the next junction leave the D199 road and take the track on the left, at Carrefour de la Carrière (1310 m) (barrier). Continue towards Tubanet refuge (3.9 km). The south-facing orientation and the yellow and green markings allow easy tracking. Leave on the right the forest track of Malatra which joins the D199. Join a sign with regulations on the Ambel Plateau. The shelter of Tubanet is then distant of 1.6 km. Return to the forest of Ambel. Reach the pastures of Tubanet which are located on the plateau of Ambel (1337 m). The refuge of Tubanet is located at 0.2 km below. (1330 m - 2 hours). From the refuge 3 (1330 m), return to the pastures of Tubanet and descend into the Combe de l'Aubasse. Join the trails of the GR 93, go up the valley and enter the forest. After beautiful descents, join the Vernâtre (1198 m) located under the farm of Ambel. Pull right (full north) in the wide valley until the combe of Louvaterre (1165m). Continue to the Gardiol (refuge - memorial). From the refuge, take the D199 to reach the car park. From the refuge of Tubanet, it takes about 3 hours to reach the starting point of the hike. The route on the departmental road passes the skier to the clearing of Malatra (1280 m).

In family and on two wheels, leave to the discovery of the agricultural and forest landscapes of Royans. Departure from the center of Saint-Jean, always follow the mountain bike n ° 7 in green color. Take the direction of Rochechinard until the Hermitage then turn left and join Boissieux passing by La Passerelle. From there, continue south along La Lyonne crossing the crossroads of Tognon, Tallard, Usine de la Plaine, Les Rats and la Freydière then Monnes and les Clefs to Saint-Martin-le-Colonel. Then cross several small hamlets and gradually return to the village of Saint-Jean passing via par la Ferronnière, Les Bodins, la Noyeraie. 

This pleasant hike offers a magnificent panorama of Saint-Nazaire-en-Royans, the Vercors and the plain of the Royans from the viewpoint of the Belvedere. Depart from Saint-Nazaire-en-Royans near the Tourist Office/Aqueduct – Espace Royans Vercors (car park). Head towards the Belvédère (panoramic viewpoint) and go along the banks of the Bourne for a moment to find the Four à Chaux crossroads before crossing the main road (caution) to eventually reach the La Châtaigne crossroads. The path then steadily goes up through the undergrowth to La Madelanière, Vanille, and Le Belvédère is close by. After admiring the exceptional scenery, return to Saint-Nazaire-en-Royans allong La Cote 457 mètres, before beginning the descent through the deciduous forest to Tire-Vire. Carry on towards Saint-Nazaire along a varied and pleasant path to reach the Chemin de la Draye crossroads, then follow the yellow and green markers to the car park, the starting point of this wonderful hike. 

An original trail offering some of the finest views of Bourg-de-Péage. Discover the town's emblematic buildings, stroll along the quays, walk through the Bois des Naix and admire the sculptures along this 6 km family walk. Each frame has a flash code so you can find out more about its history, environment, heritage, etc... And it's free! After the destruction of the medieval ramparts in the mid-19th century, the town expanded northwards. A new district emerged, located between the historic center and the train station. The local economy undergoes new developments with the installation of shoe manufacturing workshops. The need for labor led to a sharp rise in population, from 10,000 in 1850 to 20,000 in 1940 and 30,000 in 1968. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, Romans was also a garrison town, housing several barracks. Today's city center gradually took on the face we know today. A cultural venue that hosts various types of live entertainment : classical and amplified music, dance, comedy, adult and children's theater. In the 19th century, Valence was a garrison town, hosting thousands of military personnel in the barracks that were gradually being built. The presence of an artillery school attracted many young non-commissioned officers and officers, sometimes with their families. The municipality regretted not having an entertainment hall worthy of this military elite. So it was decided to build a theater.

Les gorges de la Lyonne et ses falaises permettent la nidification de l'aigle royal. It was under the abbey of Jean de Bonnevaux that Léoncel was created on August 23, 1137, with the arrival of 12 monks. The community was erected as an abbey, and its church was consecrated in 1188 by Robert de la Tour du Pin Archbishop of Vienna, the Pope's legate, the bishops of Die and Valencia. In keeping with the peculiar rules of simplicity, this Cistercian edifice of pure Romanesque style is in perfect harmony with the rigor of the landscape. The abbey church has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1854.

The GTV passes a few cables from Léoncel, the village regroups a few houses around a very beautiful Cistercian abbey of the XIIth century. This Romanesque-style building, very stripped of its limestone, is perfectly suited to its surroundings. It is classified among historical monuments since the 19th century thanks to Prosper Mérimée.

The ruins of the castle stand on a rocky platform remaining partially visible despite the vegetation that densifies over the years. In 1340, Rochechinard was sold to Aymard 1er Allemand de Beauvoir. It was probably between 1420 and 1482 that the great majority of buildings were built. Its function was essentially to defend the access roads of the Royans. In 1547, the Allemand family ceded its fief of Rochechinard to the master of the Mint of Romans, Claude Mosnier. During the wars of religion, this one is distinguished by making its castle an islet of catholic resistance. In the course of the seventeenth century, the castle is no longer inhabited and degrades gradually. Nowadays, the ruins of the castle are not visitable, as it is a private property.

With the disappearance of the brown bear, deer became the largest mammal in the massif, up to 250 kg for males. The woods of males can weigh from 7 to 9 kilos, they fall each year in March-April. From mid-September to mid-October, when the deer burst, they will breed in the nearby forest of Ambel.

Several hypotheses exist as to the origin of the name of the Col de la Bataille. It could be that the name comes from the conflict between the monks of Leoncel and the monks of the other slope for the supremacy of the breeding Ovin. Another hypothesis evokes the confrontation between the winds of the North and the winds of the South.

The Saint-Nazaire-en-Royans aqueduct, 35 m high and 235 m long, is the emblem of the city. Built between 1873 and 1876, it conducts water via the Bourne canal (which is along the start of the hike) to irrigate the plains of Valencia. It was on Place Jules Nadi (the most shaded and busiest promenade in Romans at the end of the 19th century) that the kiosk was built in 1888, with musical societies already in the habit of giving concerts on this place. The city and its inhabitants have been enriched thanks to the development and prosperity of the shoe industry: it is the commercial travelers who take the initiative to build a kiosk in our city. Funding was found through subscriptions, a municipal grant and a big party on October 2, 1887. The construction of the kiosk also corresponds to the commemoration of the centenary of the States of the Dauphiné and the arrival in garrison of the 75th infantry regiment. The actively carried out work enabled the inauguration on June 3, 1888. On July 22, the President of the Republic, Sadi Carnot, came to Romans to lay the foundation stone for the Monument to the States of the Dauphiné. He is received at the Town Hall by the Mayor and can thus admire the kiosk. It Has been restored in 2018 and is once again hosting concerts and cultural events
