Uncover the treasures of Bevons, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence

Following the GR part (St-Jacques de Compostelle way) this quite easy trail will makes you brisk into the Jabron valley before returning to the departure point and the St Domnin chapel. From the chapel, take path on your right (GR markings). Go down the valley until the junction with the road at the Gournias bridge. Turn right on the road and follow the yellow markings alternating between a track and a tarred road. Once Chantemerle reached, go up on the rocky track on your right and reach the road again a few meters further. Follow the departmental road D 53 for 1 km. At Thor neighbourhood, weave while following the markings heading to the departure point.

In the spring, this route is a riot of colors, with the blue of the crocuses, the green of the oak trees, and the yellow of the broom flowers. From the ridges of Montagne du Molard—a natural boundary between two valleys—the descent into the Jabron Valley through the Bois de la Bûche offers the finest scents and landscapes of Haute-Provence. Behind the police station, take the nature trail that climbs into the Molard woods. At the antenna, ignore the trail that descends and take the trail that climbs up to the orientation table. From the orientation table, continue straight ahead on the trail through the oak grove toward the Col de la Mairie. At Le Molard, continue toward Col de la Mairie, alternating between open ridges and oak forests. At Rocher du Turc, turn left toward Chantemerle, following the yellow trail markers. The trail descends steeply toward the Jabron Valley, then joins a track that passes near two farms, continuing the descent toward the valley. Continue on the track, then, at a bend after a few houses, leave the track to rejoin a trail. Cross a stream and continue on the trail. Immediately, turn sharply left onto the trail that climbs through the marl. Continue on the path that winds past century-old oak trees and ancient crumbling walls. At the field, following the trail markers, take the clearly visible path through the scrubland of Spanish broom. Turn left into the broom to rejoin the trail that runs along the edge of the orchards. The track gives way to a paved road, flanked by fields that are sometimes cultivated, sometimes fallow. At the hamlet of “Chantemerle,” continue along the road to Sisteron.

This quick and easy hike is perfect for exploring the Buëch and Durance valleys, which shape the landscapes of the Sisteron region. The hike ends near the citadel of Sisteron, an exceptional landmark of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence that proudly overlooks the town of Sisteron. Leave Place de la République and head toward Chemin de la Marquise. Ride along this small road straight into the heart of the countryside, passing through meadows and wooded areas. After about 3 km through the valley, take the rocky path on the right. The route alternates between forests and more open areas before rejoining the road. A beautiful view opens up over the Buëch and Durance valleys. On a clear day, the Dévoluy massif is also visible. Continue straight ahead to reach the foothills of the Citadel of Sisteron. Then head back down into the city center to return to the starting point.

This hike will make you discover the Massif of the Molard and its rich fauna and flora. Known as the « green lung » of Sisteron, the Molard has however lived hard time through centuries due to a lack of forestation. This hike begins just behind the police station (“gendarmerie”), not too far from the road sign « Montée du Molard ». Few meters after the beginning of the path, you’ll pass by a playground. Follow the path which will lead you to the botanical trail. The trail meanders up for about one kilometer (with a net climb? of 200 meters). All along the footpath, take time to watch and read the descriptive signs about the different tree species. After 35 minutes walk, you’ll arrive to an intersection with a high communication antenna. Two options are possible : Or you continue to the « Plateau de Thor ». Or you could go on walking towards the orientation table. After a 10 minutes walk, you’ll pass by the forest cabin and arrive to the Molard’s orientation table, which shows you the different surrounding summits. From this platform, you could admire a 360° panoramic view over the Sisteronais Valley, the villages of Laragne-Montéglin and Ribiers and also over the Durance Canal, which flows gently to the South. This promontory would be a perfect place for a picnic time with several tables and trashbins. After this break, continue your hike by following the trail. Along the path, panels will describe you the living creatures that you could meet during your hike and their place in the forest ecosystem. After a few hundred meters, while the GR 6 continues on the mountain ridge of the Molard, take the footpath on your right at the signpost “Le Molard”. Arriving to a small platform, you have two possibilities : you could go down by the forest track to the « Chemin de la Marquise » and reach the city center, after a 500 meters walk. The other way would be to walk back the trail to go back to your departure point.

The Fontbelle loop has everything you need for an unforgettable ride: a challenging mountain pass climb, the enchanting landscapes of the UNESCO Haute-Provence Geopark, and breathtaking views! From the Pont de la Baume (left bank), take the D4 toward Volonne. Cross the N85 carefully and take the small road running parallel to it across the plain. Return to the N85 and follow it to the right until you reach Malijai. In Malijai (426 m), leave the N85 and turn right into the village. Cross the bridge. At the roundabout, take the second exit and turn left onto the D12. Leave it shortly after and turn left onto the D8 toward Le Chaffaut. At the D 8/D 12 intersection (490 m), continue straight on the D 12. Pass through the village of Le Chaffaut and, at the roundabout by the lake, continue straight toward downtown Digne-les-Bains. Cross the bridge over the Bléone and turn right at the roundabout onto Avenue de Verdun. Continue straight ahead, passing through the shopping area until you reach the roundabout on Route de Champtercier. At the intersection of Route Napoléon and the D 3 (560 m), turn right onto the D 3. Climb to Champtercier, cross the Pas de Bonnet (886 m), then descend on its northern slope. At the intersection with the D 17, turn right toward Thoard. Drive through the village, then rejoin the D 3 on the right. After the intersection of the D 3 and D 117 (753 m), at the next junction with the D 117, keep left on the D 3 and begin the climb up the Col de Fontbelle. Cross the pass (1,304 m) and descend to the villages of Authon and then Saint-Geniez. The route then follows the D 3 downhill to Sisteron. Perched high above Sisteron, this technical trail at the entrance to the Jabron Valley offers a ride through varied terrain (marl, mountain passes, woodlands, ridges, and more). A few portages are required, but they’re well worth it for the many scenic viewpoints. The route passes through the village of Valbelle, at the foot of Mount Lure. Starting from the Sisteron Tourist Office, follow the Chemins du Soleil route through the town center. Take the botanical trail and the Molard ridges (viewpoint), which are technically challenging. A short portage is required. Head toward the Col de la Mairie and then the Pas de St-Pensier, alternating between technical sections, marl, and woodland until you reach the Chatillon spring. A climb up a shaded trail leads, with a short portage, to the Pas de l'Essaillon, located at the foot of the Pierre Impie rock (climbing site). Then head down into the Jabron Valley (viewpoint) and reach the village of Valbelle, at the foot of Mount Lure. The return trip follows trails and paths. Head to the Gournias Bridge (a great spot for swimming in the summer) via the Saint-Dominique Chapel on the Thor Plateau. Return to Sisteron partly via the GR trail to complete the loop at the tourist office.

The Molard ridge offers many outlooks on the Sisteronais, the Jabron and the Buëch. The Ecrins and Dévoluy summits can be seen during your walk. Take the departmental road D 53 on the left for about 50 meters. Go behind the police station and take the hairpin bends track going up into the Molard’s forest massif (GR markings). On your way, the botanical trail offers many interpretations. At the aerial, leave the going down rocky track and completely bend on your right towards the ascending track. Overpass the hut and the viewpoint indicator and go straight on the path leading to the Molard. At the Molard, go up the path towards the Rocher du Turc and the Mairie pass. Reach the ridge overlooked by oaks and box trees. Go on straight on the ridge and overpass the Rocher du Turc heading to the Mairie pass. A few meters further, the ridge transforms into a long descent through pine trees. At the « Col de la Mairie » - the Mairie pass – signpost, turn right on a path leading to Sisteron (yellow markings). At the forest exit, cross the marls and turn right once the junction with the track reached. At the junction with a tarred road – called Chemin de la Marquise – turn right and follow the road towards Sisteron.

Winding along both slopes of Montagne de la Baume, this 21-kilometer trail lets you explore the area around Sisteron while passing through the small village of Entrepierres. It’s the perfect opportunity to take a short break and discover the diverse landscapes just outside the city. The route starts in an urban area, leaving Sisteron and following the Durance River southward.After crossing the Durance (near the wastewater treatment plant), the route climbs toward the village of Entrepierres via the D217. Pass through the small village until you reach the base of a rocky cliff. You’ll go around Montagne de la Baume. You then follow the GRP trail of the Grande Traversée des Préalpes to the Col de Mézien (814 m). From there, you can begin a beautiful descent on the D3. This road offers a panoramic view of the Durance Valley and then of Sisteron and its citadel from the heights. The return to town is via the bridge over the Durance.

This 16-km loop runs along the base of the Rocher de la Baume and offers beautiful views of the Sisteron region. The most technically challenging sections are at the narrows and during the descent from the Baume. Starting from the Sisteron Tourist Office, follow the Chemins du Soleil route through the town and past the lake. The route crosses the Durance Bridge, passes at the foot of the Rocher de la Baume, and follows Napoleon’s historic road (offering a beautiful view of the town and the valley). A climb up a dirt track leads to Entrepierres. After the village, turn left toward Old Entrepierres and continue on a single-track trail called “Le Détroit” (you can stay on the small road if you prefer, which is easier). Ride on to the Col de Mézien (814 m). Finish on the north-facing slope of La Baume with a lovely trail that leads back to Sisteron, mostly along the Way of St. James (be careful on the descent; hikers use this route).

This route, suitable for e-MTBs, runs along the base of the Rocher de la Baume and offers stunning views of the Sisteron region and the surrounding mountains. Around Vilhosc, the marl formations provide a beautiful setting where the vegetation struggles to thrive in the arid conditions. The route also winds through beautiful lavender fields.The main technical challenge is at the narrows and during the descent from the Baume. Starting from the Sisteron Tourist Office, follow the Chemins du Soleil route through the town and past the lake. The route crosses the Durance Bridge, passes at the foot of the Rocher de la Baume, and follows Napoleon’s historic road (offering a beautiful view of the town and the valley). A climb up a trail leads to Entrepierres. In Entrepierres, the route passes by the boules court rest area. Join the road leading to the Crypte du Prieuré. A trail and a road gradually lead to Vilhosc. The route continues along a path through rolling marl hills. Mountain bikers are already treated to a few scenic views along the forest edge. It’s time to take advantage of the undulating marl terrain, which lets you pick up speed and do a few jumps. Head to the hamlet of Les Pignets, where the route heads toward the Pied du Bois trail. At the next intersection, turn right onto the short climb along a rolling, shaded trail. A final descent brings you back to the road. This road runs alongside lavender fields and the crypt of the Priory before rejoining the starting route.  Back in the village of Entrepierres, turn left toward Old Entrepierres and continue on a single-track trail called “Le Détroit” (you can also stay on the small road, which is easier). Ride on to the Col de Mézien (814 m). Finish on the north-facing slope of La Baume with a lovely trail that leads back to Sisteron, mostly along the Way of St. James (be careful on the descent; hikers use this route).

Since 1922, our mill extracts extra virgin olive oil, a genuine fruit juice, only with mechanical means to olive oil amateurs’ great joy. For more than 40 years we have been making cosmetics and soap made in a cauldron just like Marseille soap. The harvest of olives is done manually with hand and automatic combs to preserve olives quality. Then, we proceed to the grinding of the fruit with a simple mechanical method, without the addition of chemicals or change in temperature. At the end of the grinding, we get an extra virgin olive oil with a free acidity lower than 0.8%. Our mill produces a local extra virgin olive oil. Our olive oil is peppery and refreshing which is specific to the aglandau olives (90%). Nearly 400 olive growers bring their olives to supply you with: - Green fruity olive oil - Local olive oil All our products are available at our shop and online shop: olive oil, homemade products, Marseille soaps… We also make basil, mint and lemon oils. More than a mere river, the Durance is a force of nature. From its source in Mongenèvre at an altitude of 2300 metres it rolls its way over 302 kilometres until it finally flows into the Rhône. The Lake of Mison - Upaix belongs since its creation in 1960 to the Water-Bodies Association (ASA) of the plateau de Mison  for  crop irrigation. Since the construction of the Serre-Ponçon dam and the Ventavon canal, this 23-hectare lake has only been used as a back-up reserve for tree-growing. Designed for agriculture, it has become a sensitive natural space. The presence of many protected species of plants and birds, but also the importance of the lake in the landscape, makes out of this site an exceptional place for nature and environment. The valley of Thoard is set back from the main tourist routes, which allows it to keep its authenticity. We buy from local producers, breeders and shops, to offer you quality products in our campsite. This way, we favour short supply chain, limiting our environmental impact as much as possible. After a few administrative formalities and safety instructions, we will accompany you to your pitch or rental accommodation. The campsite is also open to motorhomes within the limits of the allocated space. A service area is provided by the village outside the campsite. The gîte is part of the heritage of the city of Digne les Bains. The ""Provence Alpes Agglomération"" community manages it under its responsibility for tourism.
