This easy family hike on good paths passes in the Chabridet wood and offers beautiful view points. Gourdièges is an interesting little village with an old church dating partly from the 16th century (visit outside only). D - From the Tourist Office in Pierrefort, take the D990 until the ancien post office. Turn right in the direction of SAINT- GERVAIS. 1 - At the sports field leave the Roman way and take the parallel path at right towards “PRE-CLAU”. 2 - At the end of the path to the left follow right towards CHABRIDET woods. 3 - Hug the woods to the right until the Roman way 4 - Follow to the right in the direction of GOURDlEGES. Beautiful view to the Aubrac plateau. 5 - At the end of the path follow the road to the left. 6 -Before the sign GOURDIEGES take the road to the right. Go towards the old bread oven called “Four Banal” (note the original archway and lauze roof). 7 - Continue straight on until the church and observe the old comb bell tower, the stone cross and a "trifront" next the entrance. Keep left until the exit to the village. View of the Plomb du Cantal and Puy de Rocher to the right. 8 - Take the path opposite until the D990. 9 - Follow the D990 to the left for 200m. 10 - Leave the road and take the way to the left. A long but easy hike without any difficulties. Ideal piste for mountain bikers. From the plateau beautiful view to the montains. D - DEPART: From the Tourist Office, take the D990 for 200 m, direction SAlNT- FLOUR until the ancien Post Office, then to the right direction SAlNT- GERVAIS. 1 - At the sports field follow the left track direction of Bois de Chabridet. 2 - Cross CHABRIDET WOOD. 3 - In the middle of the forest turn at left and follow the sandy path to the D990. 4 - Follow the D990 to the right for 200 m then to the left. Bypass the PUY d’ASSAC. 5 - Arriving at the D34 follow it to the right for 300 m then take the path to the left towards TRENAC. 6 - In TRENAC take the first path on the left between the houses. 7 - The path borders the lake of Montzorier, fishing area. Views of the Puy de Bane, Puy de la Cede, Plomb de Cantal and the Puy de Rocher. 8 - Turn left towards MONTROZIER WOOD and cross it. 9 - Arriving on the D265 (note the path leads out of a bend). Continue for 200m then go right until the view point on the “CROlX d’ lSERGUES.” View of the BREZONS VALLEY. Return to the D265, cross it in direction of the wood. A hike rather long in kilometres and time with a difficult climb between 5 and 6. Near to the FONTANES footbridge spanning the Vezou ruins of an old house and a mineral spring containing carbolic acid. This water had medicinal properties used for the treatment of gastric troubles, passive haemorrhage and digestive problems. D - DEPART: Church in PIERREFORT. Take the direction of ORADOUR (D48). After the Old People’s Home 1 - take the first turning on the left. Continue in the direction of the sports field. 2 - At the reservoir continue to the right, join the FAVEROLLES bridge by a path bordering a small wall. Join the road and take left. 3 - At the way out of the village go right opposite the bread oven. The path leads to COLOMBIER. Hug the road on the left. Follow the D148 for 100 m. 4 - At the first jonction follow the large track between the D148 and the POUGET road. Follow this road for 900 m. 5 - At the crossroads go right and take the path between fences. Continue in the same direction. Pass near the village LE THERON and continue straight on. 6 - Near a cross cross a little road and continue the path with trees and between pastures. Carry on until FONTANES. Cross the village. 7 - Cut across the D65. Enter the field. The path, 100m lower to the left descends rapidly to the mineral fountain. Cross the river Vezou. Climb again to cross the wood. Go round a grazing land to find a path at right. near a stone wall contunue left. 8 - Go right and find a good path which passes near an abreuvoir. View to the Turlande chapel. 9 - You arrive at LABORIE (It is possible to make a detour here left towards the Rocher de Turlande. Views of the Gorges de Truyere and the 13th century chapel, 30mins). At the crossroads take the track to the right. Go 1 km until the road to PAULHENC. 10. Continue towards PAULHENC and at the beginning of the village go right opposite the oratory. Passing the cemetery to the left continue in the same direction. Cut across the D990. Carry on opposite reaching a large agricultural shed. 11 - Carry on opposite between meadows and reach the road. Cut across it and follow a good path on the right which descends to PIERREFORT. 12 - At the first houses take the tar road to the right. Immediately left take the Fonfrede road. 100 m after a large bend branch off in “Impasse des Iris”. Carly on through the slope and steps which leads to the D990. Follow the direction “Town centre” towards the departure point. Mountainbike: Difficult. Between 6 and 7 rapid descent and very difficult climb (pushing). .

Take left then the first path to the right in direction of ROUVELET BAS. 7 - After the first house take the right path and descend along a fence, then follow until the TREBOUL BRIDGE. 8 - At the Pont de Tréboul take the direction of SAINTE-MARIE. 9 - Follow the D56 to the left towards LA FON DEL SOL (mineral fountain, to the right an old thermal hotel) and SAINTE MARIE. 10 - 100 m after the bridge of FON DEL SOL take the path to the left which climbs to SAINTE MARIE 11 - Visit the church with stained glass windows designed by Jean Cocteau. 12 - . At the exit of the village take the path between the roads to PIERREFORT and ORADOUR. Nice view on the Truyère gorges, the Aubrac plateau and the Cantal mountains. Follow the path until FALITOUX. 13 - Cross FALITOUX and take a track on the right until the D 148. Follow the road right until a bridge. 14 - Before the bridge take a path in direction of LA TERRISSE and then left until CLAVIERES. At the end of the village take the path straight on until the D 48. 15 - Follow the D48 left. 16 - After 1 km take the path to the right and 10 m after to the left to join PIERREFORT. Mountainbike: difficult level. Time: 3 hrs 45 minutes. Between 11 and 14: difficult climb, pushing before Clavières.

The birthplace of Jean Todt will seduce you with its picturesque streets lined with houses arranged in an amphitheater. You will then take the small bucolic road towards the Prat-de-Bouc pass. Discover the village of Cézens with its gothic church topped by a combed bell tower. Possibility of a return trip to the belvedere of Vidèche : beautiful view on the valley of Brezons (narrow road!). To continue this escapade by crossing the plateaus of estives and to take well on the left the direction of the Valley of Brezons. There, in these great spaces, enjoy the sounds, the smells, the colors so particular to these mountain plateaus. At the Fournier mill (on the left), cross the bridge and continue to the LA VOLPILIERE crossroads. 1 - 200 m further on, leave the road and turn right onto a path that rises up under ash and beech trees. After the hotel take the road to the left which overlooks the housing estate. Pass near a barn to the right and descend to river Brezons. 2 - Take the path at right and continue alongside the Brezons arriving in FEYDOLS. You observe beautiful houses and an old bakery house built with local stones. 3 - At the crossroad turn left and then right before the bridge. Hugging the river, pass an isolated house on the right and climb again towards MOULINGES. Before arriving at the village there was a mineral spring in one of the houses still exploited at the beginning of the century. 4 - At MOULINGES follow the road to the right and rejoin the D990. Continue at right for 100m (view of the Chateau du Meynial, above and to the right) 5 - Take a path below and to the right of the D990. Then rejoin the road. 6 - After 800m take a steep path on the left. Cross the D990. Opposite a stony path under the woods climbs to BUZERS. 7 - At BUZERS follow the road to the right passing LADASCOLS (views of the Cantal mountains with the Puy du Bane, the Plomb du Cantal and the Puy du Rocher). 8 - 250m after the crossing cross an open terrain to the right. The path between two small walls descends in undergrowth to the D354. 9 - Climb the road for 60 m. Take a path to the right which rejoins SAINT-MARTIN SOUS-VIGOUROUX. Mountainbike: impossible
