Hike From Feydols to Buzers

Description

A family ramble, however, do not underestimate the climb up to the Lebréjal plateau. The walk along the Brezons is restful then the path on the plateau offers a beautiful view. The circuit allows you to discover many different landscapes. The BREZONS VALLEY is 30km long, 2km wide and 800m deep and considered by some to be one of the most beautiful glacial valleys of Europe.

D - DEPART: Church at Saint-Martin (heritage protected and dating from the XIV century, beautiful wall pantings). Take the D990 in the direction of the Hotel de la Poste (direction of AURILLAC).

1. After the hotel take the road to the left which overlooks the housing estate. Pass near a barn to the right and descend to river Brezons.

2 - Take the path at right and continue alongside the Brezons arriving in FEYDOLS. You observe beautiful houses and an old bakery house built with local stones.

3 - At the crossroad turn left and then right before the bridge. Hugging the river, pass an isolated house on the right and climb again towards MOULINGES.
Before arriving at the village there was a mineral spring in one of the houses still exploited at the beginning of the century.

4 - At MOULINGES follow the road to the right and rejoin the D990. Continue at right for 100m (view of the Chateau du Meynial, above and to the right)

5 - Take a path below and to the right of the D990. Then rejoin the road.

6 - After 800m take a steep path on the left. Cross the D990. Opposite a stony path under the woods climbs to BUZERS.

7 - At BUZERS follow the road to the right passing LADASCOLS (views of the Cantal mountains with the Puy du Bane, the Plomb du Cantal and the Puy du Rocher).

8 - 250m after the crossing cross an open terrain to the right. The path between two small walls descends in undergrowth to the D354.

9 - Climb the road for 60 m. Take a path to the right which rejoins SAINT-MARTIN
SOUS-VIGOUROUX.

The valley of Brezons

One of the most beautiful valley in Europe with many panoramic sitesOne of the most beautiful glacial valleys in trough of Europe, according to Haroun Tazieff, famous volcanologist, for its shape in "U" well pronounced. Located at the foot of the Plomb du Cantal, about fifty springs form the stream "Brezons". The valley is overhung by a gigantic plug of lava which evokes the profile of a lion's head (while coming from the Col de la Griffoul at the level of the village of Arzaliès, look on your right). Zone of ecological interest. To discover it: -Information point in the village of Brezons (exhibitions, animations, viewing of a film...) open in summer - by car, from St.Martin-sous-Vigouroux to the Col de la Grifoul. - by car, tourist circuit of the valley (see "tourist circuits") - the villages of Brezons and Saint-Martin-sous-Vigouroux with its churches - on foot, several marked routes to discover the waterfalls of the valley. *The site of the Haute Vallée with its 5 waterfalls: from the family walk to the waterfall of the "saut de la truite" (45 min round trip) to the more sportive route to the "Cirque de Grandval", taking advantage of the magnificent waterfalls along the way *La Borie waterfall: a 1h30 loop in the valley in a bucolic setting that looks like an adventure course without the zip line and the monkey bridges... *Montreal Waterfall : a 1h30 loop with a beautiful panorama on the valley from the Croix de Montréal *Croûtes waterfall: a round trip to the Hirondelle stream and its double waterfall See the "Hiking" section for details of the routes. -Free brochure "La Vallée de Brezons, des balades au chant de l'eau" available in the Tourist Offices and in download. - Guided hikes by a local mountain guide.
