There is a "short version" of this walk that obscures the Caubin chapel. Nevertheless, we recommend that you go there: this former commandery of the Order of Malta, the most important in Béarn, has recently been renovated.

At Saint-Médard, in this artisanal farm-distillery, whisky is brewed, fermented, distilled, aged, bottled and created from the cereals grown on the farm (corn, rye, buckwheat). The whisky is aged on site in oak barrels, new barrels that have been "bousiné" (burnt inside), giving it the coppery hue so characteristic of Bourbon whisky. After three years' ageing, the first bottles of Labarrère 1773 whisky will be available at the end of 2024. Sometimes woody, sometimes caramelized or floral, Labarrère 1773 will offer a new experience with each series. During the tour, visitors can discover the entire whisky-making process, from seed to bottle.

In Hagetaubin, a small village in the Bearn region near Arthez de Bearn and the Puy route of the Compostela paths. La Pêcherie d'Aurit, a wildlife park with 800 breeding animals in semi-liberty, occupies a 30 ha forest estate. A real paradise for all. Children can pet, observe, feed dwarf goats, sheep, donkeys, ponies, guinea pigs, rabbits, llamas, peacocks, swans, ornamental hens... We also like to fish for trout with equipment and bait provided. Calmness reigns in this green setting of about fifty listed trees: oaks, beeches, ashes, chestnut trees, cherry trees, maples... A walk or a pony ride. The Aurit fishery is also equipped for picnics in the shade of the large trees.

In Mesplède, a small village in Béarn near Arthez-de-Béarn and the Puy des chemins de Compostelle. Christelle welcomes you on her family farm which produces farm poultry raised traditionally in freedom. She knows her products well: the chicks are delivered at the age of 1 day and she takes care of everything, from breeding to slaughter. She has been preparing the ready-to-cook poultry herself for more than 10 years. Find her products on the markets of Artix and Arthez de Béarn.

Located in the open countryside near to Arthez de Béarn and the Compostela routes, this cooperative organic dairy farm is run by four farmers. The organic dairy cattle are grass fed with home produced cereals added to their diet. The milk has organic certification and dairy products, ice creams, sorbets and so on are all homemade - young and old alike will appreciate the different flavours! There is also a picnic area which has views over the Pyrenees.

Lin des Pyrénées has a zero-waste philosophy: everything that comes out of the lab is recycled. Original and healthy, come and discover how flax is produced, this oilseed, a real source of omega 3 and 6, minerals and fiber. Flax, once cultivated in Béarn, is in flower in May and June, and you can see flax plots in several communes in Béarn: Mesplède, Biron, Tarsacq, Arbus, Monein, Espéchède... Harvested in the afternoons of July and August as soon as the temperature reaches 30°C, the seeds are first sorted using a mobile sorter. Once in the lab, the seeds are sorted several times using a second sorter, to ensure that only seeds meeting the quality charter are retained. These are then used to produce the oil. Press co-products (cakes) are used to make flour. Products sold on site.

In Sault-de-Navailles, a small village near Orthez and on the edge of the Landes region, Olivier Dupuy is a second generation fruit grower. The Pélanne orchard produces 16 varieties of apples and 7 types of pears; this means he can supply fruit for all tastes throughout the growing season. The orchard is on a hillside which gives the fruit an aromatic and delicious taste and they are produced sustainably. Stop off and enjoy the scrumptious taste of truly fresh fruit including apples, pears and kiwis; you can also purchase home made juice.

After studying cookery in the Landes region of France, Alexis was lucky enough to join the team at Moulin de Poustagnacq in Saint-Paul-Lès-Dax, then at Restaurant des Voisins in Salies-de-Béarn. He then had the privilege of joining chef Etchebest's brigade for 3 years, during which he was able to progress and hold a number of different positions. The call of the region was too strong, so he returned to the country with a stint at Stéphane Carrade's Maison Ruffet. With his luggage full, Alexis is now setting up his own private chef business to come and cook in your home!
