Between plain and forest, Sèvre and Hermitain, hike in the heart of a valleys countryside, following the stones and the history, the water and the legends.

This hike will take you to six unique laundries and fountains within the commune of Souvigné.

You will discover during this bike ride, the magnificent natural and patrimonial sceneries of the Haut val de Sèvre by leaving the commune of La Crèche to go to Sainte-Néomaye and finally to pass by Cerzeau. 2 loops proposed : 22 km and 37 km 2 levels of difficulty : blue and red

Passing in front of the high dry-stone walls of the château "Le Breuil", this hike also takes you to a spring in the Aigonnay valley, to wash-houses and, at the finish line, to the village temple. Parking and departure point next to the town hall square in Aigonnay. Initiated in the 2000s, the walks and discoveries are now managed by the Mellois en Poitou community of communes, in collaboration with the local communes. To date, there are 50 of these itineraries, ranging from 1 to 16 km, enabling families, cyclists and experienced walkers to explore the region and discover its many facets (landscapes, small-scale heritage, etc.).

The "villa d'Azay" is mentioned as early as 948. At the end of the 11th - beginning of the 12th century, Azay was given to the abbey of Saint-Maixent. Around 1300, the Benedictine priory of Azay was created by the monks of Saint-Maixent. The latter was fortified in 1489. The cloister could date back to the 16th century. The old church is located in the village, at the heart of the former St Bartholomew's Priory, whose buildings (partly private) are arranged on either side of the building. Placed under the patronage of Saint-Barthélemy, the church, which was remodelled, restored and transformed in 1864, has retained a beautiful portal dating to the end of the 12th century - beginning 13th century. Its three elegant pointed archivolts rest on monolithic columns and are decorated with torus-shaped mouldings. The Pont Neuf, a mule bridge from the 12th century, is located on the old mill and salt path serving the mills that dot the Sèvre Niortaise valley. The Haut Val de Sèvre was a high place of production of mules and mules exported to Europe and the New World.
