From 20 to 23 December, La Route du Sel is offering a special Christmas tour of Sallertaine. After a short presentation of the village and the marshes, take a trip in an illuminated canobus or a small canoe for a cruise at dusk. In her workshop, from the design to the finishing touches of the model, Caroline makes all Lèzeurs Cuir bags and accessories in their entirety, by hand. Each piece is unique. She makes it a point of honour to select the finest leathers from France and Italy, processed in a sustainable and environmentally-friendly way. With each new collection, she goes in search of rare pearls. She likes to surprise by combining different textures, colours and prints for each of her creations. The weight, strength and luminosity of each skin are also carefully examined. Lèzeurs Cuir creations are timeless, chic and trendy, but also practical for everyday wear. I create living jewellery, made from raw, natural materials, picked with respect. Each piece tells a story. A real approach inspired by Nature. It all began 20 years ago, during a long stay in Brazil, where I learned to observe nature in a different way. Since then, I've been gathering seeds, pods and bark that have reached maturity naturally, without harming the ecosystem. Naturally stable and resistant, these materials require no varnish or resin. Depending on the season, I carefully select my plants between France and Brazil, and also trade with nomadic craftsmen. This has enabled me to expand my collection, for example with 'plant gold', a fine, supple golden straw, or natural-coloured seeds that I pierce, polish or shape according to their texture. Recently, I've also been adding feathers that have fallen naturally during moulting, which I collect locally and prepare with care. 100% natural creations Out of respect for the knowledge passed down and for nature, I use no metal, glue or industrial beads. Each piece is assembled by hand, using a delicate weave of woven cotton thread, to create unique pieces of jewellery, embroidered like plant paintings, in my workshop in Sallertaine, in the Vendée.

After learning Broderie d'Art Haute Couture at the Lesage school in Paris, the artist set up her workshop in the Vendée. It's here that, with her Lunéville crochet hook, she creates fashion accessories and embroidered pictures, using all the materials that inspire her: silk, cotton or metallic threads, pearls, sequins, cannetilles or ribbons allow her to express a whole palette of emotions. In her studio, she welcomes students who are beginners or experienced, enlightened amateurs or up-and-coming professionals. All come to learn Lunéville embroidery with curiosity and passion. To discover this Haute Couture embroidery technique, come and take part in the "Discover Lunéville crochet" course. In 2 lessons of 2 hours, she will teach you how to embroider thread and beads in chain stitch. The crochet hook, embroidery loom and materials are on loan. A glassblower using a blowtorch, Philippe works with coloured or transparent glass rods and tubes at 1400°C. Heaping up the glass, playing with weightlessness and using tongs, he brings to life a host of characters and animals as his imagination takes him, always with a humorous touch reminiscent of the world of cartoons. Come and discover the work of this blowtorch glassmaker during demonstrations at his workshop in Sallertaine, in the heart of the Île aux artisans.

After completing a CAP in cutlery in 2019, the craftsman founded Atelier Delahaye in 2022. He makes and repairs kitchen knives, table knives, pocket knives and other carving tools. He makes bespoke creations, and all the stages in the manufacture of his pieces (forging, shaping, polishing, etc.) are carried out entirely by hand! It's a craft in which the craftsman pays particular attention to the design, selection and assembly of materials, seeking a balance between aesthetics and ergonomics. Introductory forging courses are available, during which you can make your own knife!
