On site, you will find the trail under the following name: LE BELVÉDÈRE DE MARIE Two starting points are suggested for this tour: one at the edge of the forest, already providing a lovely elevated view of the surroundings, and the other lower down, next to a large recreational area connected to the riverside bike path. The route connects the banks of the Saar River at Grosbliederstroff, a picturesque border village, to the Brandenbusch Forest. From the towpath, you will then take the forest paths, enjoying leisure and sightseeing spots in the village center along the way. Don't miss the beautiful Baroque-style Saint-Innocent Church (1745), whose interior is renowned for its beauty and classified for its numerous religious objects and elements. The ossuary near the church is fully listed in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments. The path along the Saar is very pleasant, especially in summer when many activities enliven the river. The Grosbliederstroff recreational area nearby offers many games, a shelter, and picnic tables. As you head towards the Brandenbusch Forest, you will have to climb the vineyard hill for almost 1 km. This effort will be rewarded with a first view of the surrounding countryside. Behind you, the forest is your next stop for a nature hike. You will appreciate the calm and tranquillity. A nearly 6 km loop will take you on pleasant, shaded paths, part of which is the botanical and fitness trail. Nearly 68 different species from the region are gathered here. The Notre Dame du Brandenbusch Grotto, Marie's Viewpoint, is an essential stop, overlooking the town on the hillside in front of the forest. Numerous benches are installed for walkers to quietly enjoy this beautiful panorama of the Saar Valley and towards Germany. At the beginning or end of your tour, if you wish to extend your route to Germany, the Friendship Bridge, located on the Saar near the recreational area, connects the towns of Grosbliederstroff and Kleinblittersdorf. A total change of scenery guaranteed! The protected site of Rouhling-Sarreguemines looks very much like Canada. Under our eyes, the fauna and flora abound on 11 hectares. The golf course was built around this protected site. Marly slopes, mesophilic grassland and a humid wooded area crossed by a stream are managed by the Conservatoire d'espaces naturels de Lorraine. Several remarkable species have found refuge on the site. Grey Shrike, Whinchat, Common Kingfisher... No less than 69 species of birds can be found here! To complete this small ecosystem, 88 species of insects inhabit the 14 types of natural environment that make up the site. There are also five species of amphibians, including the Crested Newt. The flora is not to be outdone, with 246 plant species making their home here. The meadow scabious, a protected species in Lorraine, colours this area with its beautiful purple accents. This canoe trip is unique. It offers a chance to paddle along the Sarre between France and Germany, at the point where the river marks the boundary between the two countries. It takes you on a journey along the Saar between France and Germany. At this point the river effectively marks the border between the two countries. A bike ride that crosses a large part of the region, following the 3 rivers Simbach, Waeschbach and Bousbach. It’s an opportunity to cross the Forbach region from north to south, discovering 7 of the area’s communes. From Alsting, you can head towards Güdingen, in Germany. And at Tenteling, you’ll come to a crossroads where you can branch off to the route "Circuit des Étangs du Pays de Forbach".

The museum houses a vast collection of machine tools used in the production of ceramics, and its Faïenciers garden is also worth a visit. Your journey will lead you to the villages of Blies-Guersviller, a typical Lorraine village, Graefinthal, and then to the heart of the Sitterswald forest in Germany, on the border with Sarreguemines. Museum Gaspar is housed in the residence of the middle-class family Gaspar from Arlon who had set up in this house (1893) that was built in 1842. It was renovated in 2004. The two most famous members of this family are animal sculptor Jean-Marie Gaspar (1861-1931) and Charles Gaspar (1971-1950) who was a photographer and a sponsor. He gave his house to the town of Arlon on the condition they make a museum of it, dedicated to his brother's work and that put into honour the history and the heritage of Arlon. At the first floor, theree are two restored salons identical to a middle-class salon from the early 20th century that show Jean-Marie Gaspar's sculptures. and the art and picture collection of Charles Gaspar. The rest of the first floor is dedicated to temporary exhibitions of the museum that alternates artv and history. A religion room shows collections about the abbey of Orval and to the people's devotion at the 18th century, and also relics from the ancient Saint-Martin church. But the Masterpiece is the famous altarpiece Retable de Fisenne - a 16th century masterpiece from the Antwerp school. It was bought in 1893 by a middle-class family from Arlon, the family Gaspar. Jean Gaspar (1861-1931) was a sculptor. He was trained by the Antwerp sculptor Jef Lambeaux. His works are in bronze and in plaster and they are exhibited in the salons that have been restorated as they were in his house. His brother Charles (1871-1950) was a photographer, a collector and a sponsor. He gave this house to the town of Arlon. It hosts the library of the Archaeological Institute of the Belgian Province of Luxembourg and its secretary office since 1954. A wide part of the museum is also dedicated to temporary exhibitions about art and history of Arlon.

Rich in the Gallo-Roman past of Arlon, the museum houses an impressive collection that bears witness to the daily life of this period.One of the peculiarities of the museum is its imposing and rich lapidary collection, composed of several dozen fragments of ancient funerary monuments.These blocks and the objects from Roman craftsmanship will teach you more about daily life at that time.

The arboretum of Rouhling is a quiet place where it is good to walk! The walker can move around in complete serenity in the midst of vegetation which, over time, has taken possession of this former rubble site. Trees of local species grow on a slightly undulating landscape near paths and a stream that crosses this site of about 2 hectares. A kiosk provides shelter, but also invites to occasional animations.

This house has retained all the features of a 19th-century farmhouse in Lorraine, with the three "bays" typical of a farmer's house: the dwelling, the stable and the barn. Numerous elements recorded in a remarkable 210-page handwritten document, the TERRIER, drawn up at the time of the Rouhling land consolidation in 1708, confirm that the house was inhabited before the end of the 17th century. In the former hayloft, where a wall of display cases has been installed, we can see a wide range of unusual objects, as well as models of very old buildings, including the Gallo-Roman Villa, etc. The presentation of the tools of the various local trades of yesteryear will help you to understand how they were used, and also to discover their names. The parish church from 1745 is a baroque one. Its inside construction is well-known for its beauty. Numerous objects and inside elements are filed or registered.

It is situated above Grosbliederstroff, at the entrance of the Brandenbusch forest. We can admire there a wonderful view on the Sarre valley.

A concentrate of local history to see and experience! Back to the school benches of our grandparents! It is not a history lesson that awaits you in these restored 20th century classrooms but a real plunge into the heart of the last century. Thanks to the museum's various thematic rooms, you will discover old agricultural machines and tools, as well as old forgotten trades such as wheelwrights, basket makers, coopers... This museum, located in the former village girls' school, is promoted and maintained by the SHAG (Society of History and Archaeology of Grosbliederstroff). Also on the programme: geology and other archaeological features of the commune, religious practices in the region, the 1870 war and two world conflicts which had a strong impact on the locality.

This church has been mentioned for the first time in the 18th century. But its construction goes back to the Crusades time, therefore a reliquary still present in the chapel supposed to contain a particle of the true Cross. Numerous elements of the furniture present in the chapel are listed or registered.

This church can be traced back to the middle of the 16th century. In 1759, while the village was under the patronage of the Baron of Kerpen, Father Jean Baptiste Roth had the church in Cadenbronn rebuilt due to its dilapidated state.

First built before the Thirty Years’ War, renovation work then began in 1763 and the church attained its current dimensions. In 1895, Father Gamel began his 25-year transformation of this church into the “cathedral of the Steinart” in the Renaissance Revival style with pillars.

It is commonly thought that the Welferding’s church has been built in 1221. Until the end of the ancient régime, it came under the power of the archpriestry of Saint Arnual and it was the mother-church of numerous towns until 1802, when it has been tied up to Sarreguemines. It is administrated by the Benedictine monks from the abbey of Tholey until the Revolution. The architecture of its church comes from the roman influence; a priory used as an accommodation for the monks. The church served as a warehouse for the military hospital in the Maison des Dîmes (House of Tithe) during the Revolution. It has been damaged and rebuilt to be devoted to the worship. The surface of the chorus has been enlarged, the façade has now an empire style, a new bell-tower in an onion-shape reminds the one of the church of the abbey of Tholey, the three naves reunited under a common roof, and it almost looks like the church you can admire today. The church is named Saint Walfrid from the name of the patron saint of the parish. Walfrid was archbishop from York in England in th 8th century. Going through the region to reach Rome, he took a rest at his friend’s Dagobert II, king of Austrasie (former name of the north-east of France), in Metz. Taking profits from Metz’ Court, Tholey’s abbey will give the name of Saint Walfrid to one of its possession.
