This hike is situated in Saint-Genest-sur-Roselle and offers a beautiful walk along the Briance river. During the hike, you will also discover beautiful viewpoints on the Limousin mountains and on the Briance valley.

The final 19.5 km stage of the GR® de Pays Monts et Barrages en Limousin between Saint-Paul and Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat takes you across the wide plateaus interspersed with valleys, cradle of the Limousin breed. A heated swimming pool (3mx15 m), shared with the owners and gîte guests from late May to late September, weather permitting, overlooks the countryside. Le Blanzou, a gîte or chambre d'hôtes with exposed beams, has been tastefully and authentically converted into the farm's former sheepfold near the entrance porch. There's a heated swimming pool (3mx15 m), shared with the owners and guests from the rooms, from late May to late September, depending on the weather, and open onto the surrounding countryside, as well as a relaxation area in the courtyard and on the grounds. The Vieux Château, a 16th century seigneurial residence that was mistreated by the Revolution, overlooks the village of Vicq. The old farmhouse has been renovated into two gîtes which have a totally private grassy terrace.

Guillaume Dupuytren was born on October 5, 1777 in Pierre-Buffière (at number 22 of the street which today bears his name, and which houses the presbytery). After studying in Paris, he became a surgeon at the Hôtel-Dieu de Paris in 1802. He was appointed assistant surgeon, then chief surgeon and professor of surgical clinic. He was surgeon to Louis XVIII and Charles X. Later appointed Baron and member of the Académie de Médecine, he practiced at Hôtel-Dieu for 15 years. He was the father of anatomopathology, providing anatomical descriptions of congenital dislocation of the hip, retraction of the superficial palmar aponeurosis (known as Dupuytren?s disease) and inventing the enterotome. He died on February 8, 1835 at the age of 56, suffering from the onset of apoplexy, pleural effusion and renal colic.

Built in the 16th century as a coaching inn on the Paris-Toulouse road. It remained in operation until 1888. Pope Pius VII spent a night here in 1814.

Romanesque church (1060) remodeled in the 14th century. It is in the shape of a Latin cross, built of granite and partly covered with schist lauze. The choir features 19th-century paintings. The church holds the relics of St. Côme and St. Damien and is an ostensionary parish. Its portal (the only one of its kind in France) has been decorated with 18 "bleu de four" enameled porcelain plaques since 1838.

To reach Pierre-Buffière, you have to cross a bridge or viaduct. the "pont de l'hermitage" (or "pont de la recluse") because a hermit (or recluse) lived nearby in a chapel built in the 14th century, but it is more commonly known as the "pont vieux" (old bridge) because it was on the north/south route linking Limoges to Brive, via Pierre-Buffière, before the route was changed to the "pont Neuf" (new bridge). This Gothic obtuse-arched bridge, built in the 12th century over the Briance river at the confluence with the Blanzou, was repaired several times following flood damage. The first viaduct built between 1888 and 1891 in local stone to cross the Briance valley was the railway viaduct on the Paris-Toulouse line.

On a plateau overlooking the Briance and Blanzou valleys opposite Pierre Buffière, the Gallo-Roman remains of Villa d'Antone are emerging from the past as the work undertaken by volunteers from the Association Dupuytren Mémoire Vivante progresses. The site came into being 2000 years ago, during the first century of the Christian era. The country lived in peace under the Antonine dynasty, the PAX ROMANA, which lasted for three centuries. Site open from April to October. Guided tours by prior arrangement. Activities are available for teachers, organizers and educators for children and schoolchildren.

Situated on a plateau, Saint-Hilaire-Bonneval, 5 kilometers from Pierre-Buffière (exit 39 on the A20 freeway), is the very epitome of a rural commune. The beauty of its landscapes inspired Arthur Young to travel to France in 1792. The name Saint-Hilaire-Bonneval comes from Hilarius, bishop of Poitiers, and Bona Vallis, the Latin word for "good valley". The 17th-18th-century church, with its bell tower and wall, is well worth a visit. 13th-century Limousin portal. 17th-century oculus. The church contains statues from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. To the right of the portal is a lapidary inscription.
