Exploring the Coteau Chiron along the Saint Laurent lake and a part of the lower gorges. From the car park, exit the village through the road Montagnac-Montpezat on the right. When you reach the oratory of Saint-Laurent, at a crossroads between the Riez road and the Montpezatof road, continue straight on the small road C1 of Montpezat. 400m further, just before the bridge, leave the road and follow the path on the right. Go downwards at the edge of the field until the ruins of Angles. 1 - Take the trail on the right and 200m further, go down the road on the left. Coming out a passageway through the woods, reach to a vast mountain pass at the edge of the field (420m). Turn left. Go down the path along the meadows until lake Saint-Laurent. 2 - Upstream the lake, take the left path. Further down, go into the woods. Continue on the main route. The trail rises quickly on the left, upstream the gorges of Verdon, on the hillside of Coteau Chiron (look out for the marking!). When the view opens onto lake Montpezat, follow the trail that descends to the Verdon. Reach to the fencing of the camp (intersection of routes between Saint-Laurent and Montpezat). 3 - Follow the road on the left towards Saint-Laurent. Reach the edges of the forest, and after a short ascent, go to the ruins of Angles. 1 - Turn right and return to the village following the route taken to go.

Climb on this barred spur overlooking the Verdon and the lowland where the local populations of the second iron age had settled. From the car park take the direction of the museum and go up the path to it.1- Go then on the left, pass in front of the hotel Notre-Dame and take just after the Notre Dame road on the right. After 50 m turn left to arrive at the chapel. 2- Leave the main track and continue on the path on the right. Go along a quarry, enter the undergrowth. Continue uphill, sometimes steep, in the middle of some rocky outcrops. Go between the cliff and a rocky tooth and get on the top, on the ridge, the ruins of the Old Quinson.3- Follow the main path on the right. After crossing the plateau to the north, join an open area that expands. After 300 m, get a new flat level.4- Leave the main path and follow the path on the right towards the village of Quinson (yellow markings). Quickly the path crosses the hutch down crossing across the hillside. Get below the intersection with the Lier path.5- Continue down the path for about 400 m On the bottom, leave the path and turn left. Under the oak trees, follow a low wall and join the cemetery. Enter the small road on the right to the village.

This hike allows you to cross the village of Quinson and to discover, on the plateau, the Poiraque source. Departure: Prehistory Museum car park. Follow the white and red markings of the GR®4. From the car park, follow the pedestrian path to reach the Prehistory museum. Enter the village of Quinson by the Esparron de Verdon road.1- Go past the town hall, the wash house and, through the rue du Var, reach the Place de la Paix. At the foot of the ramparts, go up the right street (Cours). Follow him to the end.2- At the fountain, leave the road to Esparron de Verdon and continue to the right in the "Grande Rue". At 90 m, after the fountain turn left, the street "Puits de Ville".3- Climb the small steps to the side of the cellar on your left, cross the main road and go straight, follow the path of Maudevencet (white and red mark-up) about 300 m. 4- Turn left and continue along the Maudevencet valley to the main road.5- Cross it and take in front the trail going towards Poiraque. Climb under the oaks and win the path of the Vaudoudurde valley. Follow the route at the bottom of the valley for 500 m then continue, at the first intersection, by a path and turn left. At the edge of the road the source, Vaudoudurde (20 m to the left of the trail), just in front of a large ruin. Higher up on the path go under the pines, go along some olive trees, before joining the plateau.6- Get the road to cross it and to take the track in front (leave the GR and follow the yellow markings PR), walk the lavandins fields on the right then 400 m further, to join again some vines plants on the left and quickly you will get to a small wooded area. Stay at the edge of the forest. After a hundred meters, the path goes down to the fields continue to the forest on the left.7- Then turn right and join the Poiraque source located just below. 8- The return is made by the same itinerary.

A fun ride that will allow you to journey through time and trace back to the origins of man and prehistory. From the parking lot, head towards the pedestrian access to the Prehistory Museum. Exit the car park, leave the ascent to the village and the museum and turn right on the paved road. It passes between tennis courts and camping grounds and joins the road along the Verdon. 1- For the pedestrians, reach the nautical base and follow, on the left, the dirt road along the Verdon. It leads to, after 500m by the water, the prehistoric village. For people with reduced mobility, stay on the small road that runs along the campsite. At 500m it reaches the entrance of the prehistoric village (the site can be occasionally impassable after heavy precipitation; dirt road!). Return by the same route to the starting point

On the old path of the Garde-Canal, you will enjoy the privilege of entering the lower gorges to reach the Sainte Maxime chapel. From the parking lot, head across to the nautical base and the banks of the Verdon. Turn right at the water's edge and onto the bridge. Go over the bridge and in 50m, you will reach the starting point of the trail of the lower gorges. 1 - Take a right. Reach a first viewpoint and go down to the waterfront. Continue on the historic trail between the Verdon and the canal for 1.5km. 2 - at the gateway of the intersection called {Draille des vaches}, continue straight. Take on this route the two metal stairs, walk along the canal wall (be careful!) before using its entrance and reaching the shelter of the canal's guardsman (interpretation panels). 3 - Go through a long tunnel of 120metres and exit the canal by a metal staircase. Walk at the bottom of the Sainte-Maxime valley for about 1km, then take a left to reach the plateau. 4 - Go left towards the Sainte-Maxime chapel. 5 - From the chapel, coming back using the same route. 4 - Go straight, continue the path under the oaks and reach an ancient oratory. Take the path to the right, pass a ruin and continue on the left until the crossroads "Draille des vaches". 6 - Follow on the right, for 1km, the path passing through the plateau Mallasoque (unwooded route to be avoid during days of high heat!). Note: the route on the left {la Draille des vaches} descends directly to the gateway at the crossroads of the same name, this route of 300 steps which allows you to reach the trail along the Verdon again. After the plateau, turn left by the track and follow the trail cutting it. Lower down, regain the main track and then the road. 7 - Go left along the canal to reach further along the main road. Follow it, cross the bridge and come back to the starting point of the route taken to go.

A walk on old mule trails that takes you from the edge of Lake Sainte-Croix to the plateau to enjoy a breathtaking view of the lake and the lavender fields. From the car park, follow the road along the lake towards the water sports centre and the campsite (Chemin de Paraloup), on the left. Follow the small road for 800 m along the edge of the lake. Go along some terraces (dry stone walls), olive trees and picnic areas. At the intersection, continue straight on the small road. Continue for 800 m to the path of Muleteers going up to the plateau. Climb the path on the left along a ridge. Higher up (109 m difference in altitude), at the intersection, go up the path on the left, crossing. At the end of the climb, follow the path on the left for 150 m along the plateau, at the edge of the field. Go down to the left on the marked route (PR). Join the road at the point and return to the starting point by the route taken on the way there.

From the parking lot, follow the road along the lake towards the nautical base and the campsite (chemin de Paraloup), on the left. Walk along the small road for 800m by the lake. There are a few dry-stone walls, olive trees, and picnic areas. 1- At the intersection, continue on the small road straight ahead. Continue for 800m to the Mule trail on the plateau. 2- Climb to the left the trail along a rump. Higher up (109m in height), at the intersection, go up the road on the left, crossing it. 3- At the end of the climb, go left for about 150m on the trail along the plateau, edge of field. Descend to the left on the marked route (PR). Reach the road at point 1 and return to the starting point by the road taken on the way.

At Allemagne-en-Provence, follow the trail of a past rich in knightly history! From the Place du 16 Juin 1944 (square), at the foot of the castle of Allemagne, follow the D952 towards Riez. Immediately after the bridge of the Tartavel valley, take the small path on the right, marked in yellow. 1- Go up by the footpath, under the oaks, amidst the thyme, boxwood and broom. Halfway up, pass at the foot of a column and continue in the woods until the chapel (equipped picnic area). 2- From the top, go back down through Allemagne-en-Provence by a wider path behind the chapel until the Route de Riez. The end of the trail follows the D952 for 500m (watch out for cars, walk to the right of the road!). Go past the old mill village, now converted into a hotel and restaurant. Reach the car park of the starting point.

The Véris trail could be called the trail of the senses, both your eyes and your sense of smell will be put to the test. From the car park on the left, at the entrance of the village, cross the main street and reach the wash-house through the street across from the car park. Climb right after the wash-house, switch to the bottom of the rocks and follow the road of St-Sauveur (GR®99 ; white and red marking). At the next intersection, go straight onto the Défens track, closed by a gate. Go up on the right bank of the Gorges de Caletty valley by the paved trail and then dirt road. 1 - At 1km / less than a mile, at the end of the rise, exit the GR®99 and turn left onto the path of Véris (blue marking). Stroll through the route under the oaks and along rock removal areas (piled up rocks). Leave a path coming from the right and reach an intersection at 1km / less than a mile. 2 - Take a right. (Do not take the left path which is crossed off by a blue cross). Follow the marked path and climb to a meadow, go along through the left and continue through the woods. Reach a small clearing and regain the limestone plateau through a path (passages on limestone pavements). Leave a path starting on the right and continue straight (blue markings, signVéris) then reach a crossroads at a cedar plantation. 3 - Take the path going down to the right, among the oaks, pines and brooms and reach a passage between the rocks (remarkable). Go down the path along the walls and continue under the shade of the oaks. Reach a concrete path at the foot of the hill then reach the road. At the end, pass over the public gardens of Bauduen then go down to the rive through the road. Go into the village through the left (GR®99 ; white and red marking).

A Esparron de Verdon, between the lake and hills, discover the history of the village, its castle and the local flora. From the car park of the tourist office, get on the D82 road and turn right towards the castle and its fountain. Reach on 100m the intersection to the right between the roads of the Tuilière and Quinson. 1- Take the right route (Lake Road and Tuilière Road). After 50m on the path of Tuilière, turn left by the discovery trail. The entire climb, on a trail, is common with this special course. Pass in front of the viewpoint of the Tuilière. Cross a small valley and reach, to the top, a crossroads of tracks at a place known as Séouve. 2 - Exit the discovery trail and turn left leaving the track towards Sainte-Magdeleine. Cross the plateau on about 800m. After coming out of the forest, along the fields, go past a small stone cottage and reach the intersection with the Quinson path. 3 - Take a sharp left and go down the path through the hill. Once on the road, follow it to the left for 150m and take the path starting on the right. Go down for another 400m and reach the intersection with the access track to Bastide Neuve. Continue across on the main track and reach the road at 200m. 4 - Turn left and go through it to the village. At about 700m, go past the Sainte-Magdeleine chapel. Continue to the intersection with the Quinson road. Follow the signs towards Esparron to reach the castle and the route taken to go.

Taking the emblematic Blanc Martel trail without taking your car couldn't be easier, thanks to the shuttle bus and the Zou 450 regional line (ex BV1 )from Riez, Roumoules, Moustiers-Sainte-Marie and Castellane. Shuttle service resumes on 28/04/2023. How does it work? The Zou 450 regional line links Riez to Castellane via the village of La Palud-sur-Verdon. From La Palud-sur-Verdon, the Blanc-Martel shuttle bus takes you to the Chalet de la Maline, the trailhead. The trail ends at Point Sublime (Rougon). For your return journey, take the shuttle bus to the village of La Palud-sur-Verdon and/or the regional line 450 to Riez or Castellane. Timetables... To ensure optimum operation, the timetables of the Riez-Castellane regional line (450) and the Blanc-Martel shuttle are coordinated. Online booking is highly recommended if you want to be sure of getting a seat! Please note that the shuttle does not return to Chalet de la Maline in the afternoon.

Since 1922, our mill extracts extra virgin olive oil, a genuine fruit juice, only with mechanical means to olive oil amateurs’ great joy. For more than 40 years we have been making cosmetics and soap made in a cauldron just like Marseille soap. The harvest of olives is done manually with hand and automatic combs to preserve olives quality. Then, we proceed to the grinding of the fruit with a simple mechanical method, without the addition of chemicals or change in temperature. At the end of the grinding, we get an extra virgin olive oil with a free acidity lower than 0.8%. Our mill produces a local extra virgin olive oil. Our olive oil is peppery and refreshing which is specific to the aglandau olives (90%). Nearly 400 olive growers bring their olives to supply you with: - Green fruity olive oil - Local olive oil All our products are available at our shop and online shop: olive oil, homemade products, Marseille soaps… We also make basil, mint and lemon oils. The Owly Sulfur (Libelloides coccajus) is an insect of the Ascalaphidae family which looks at the same time like a butterfly and a dragonfly. The hindwings are triangular in shape with a pointed end and a black spot. The forewings are slightly larger than the hindwings. There are also large sulfur yellow spots found on the wings, which is behind the species name. The rest of the wings are transparent and decorated with black veins.

Saint-Laurent-du-Verdon has benefited from two castles, the oldest of the 15th century only existing as remains embedded in some houses in the village. The second was built in the late 17th century on the order of Claude de Castellane. It is an elegant quadrangular building as they were built back then. It is between four corner towers and offers three levels of beautiful arched windows. Its monumental semicircular gateway pleasantly emphasizes the southern facade.

The castle is an elegant quadrangular building of the same type as the constructions built in the 17th century. It was built in the late 17th century on the order of Claude de Castellane after he had sold his part of the "old castle" to one of the lords of the place. His lord chose to build it away from the town, in the heart of a park closed by a large portal. In this sector, there were burials dating from the late 3rd century or early 4th century. (Now a private property).

The Iris lutescens, also called the scrubland iris, the yellow iris or the dwarf iris is a plant belonging to the genus Iris and to the Iridaceae family. As its name indicates, its flowers are usually pale yellow, but there are also varieties with purple or white flowers, or two-coloured. It is a Mediterranean plant which normally grows on limestone, on dry rocky lawns.

The layout of the fountain site dates from 1647. In Provence, the development of water points are arranged according to a precise logic. Is that you actually save every drop of water in the swishing, but also keep it the necessary cleanliness. The water comes from a spring that flows a few meters from here, in the middle of the street down to the village. While both fountain and wash trough, "the fountain" meets the different needs of residents.
