Le Bois du Cornet is a charming little inn in the centre of the village of La Forclaz (between Lake Geneva and the Portes du Soleil ski resorts), with 3 guest rooms upstairs and a restaurant/bar on the ground floor. Situated in the heart of the small, typical village of La Forclaz, between Thonon les Bains and Morzine (on the road to the Col du Grand Taillet and Tréchauffé), the auberge offers an ideal setting in which to recharge your batteries and enjoy a welcoming environment. The inn has a terrace, restaurant, bar and 3 spacious family guest rooms for up to 3 or 4 people. They are equipped with a double bed and a single bed. The large room sleeps 4, with a double bed and 2 single beds. These non-smoking rooms all have en suite bathrooms with toiletries. Bed linen and towels are also provided. Continental breakfast is served every morning on request. It includes hot drinks, fruit juice, pastries baked on request in the morning and hot bread. Situated midway between the Brevon Valley and the Aulps Valley, the Mévonne refuge, an old traditional alpine farm dating from the end of the 19th century, is a guarded refuge offering overnight stays, evening meals and breakfasts. Entirely renovated, the refuge can accommodate up to 20 people in a dormitory. Dinner and breakfast on can be booked in advance. Access is by foot, about 1h30 walk on a forest path through a primary forest and mountain pastures.

Located in the Ubine mountain pasture, at the foot of Mont Chauffé, this refuge is accessible by snowshoes and ski touring in winter and by foot and car in summer. The chalet is accessible in winter on foot, snowshoes and skis in 2 to 3 hours depending on the snow conditions, from the departure point at La Revenette, located about 1km from the village of Vacheresse. The keys are to be picked up at the café de la Mairie in Vacheresse Mrs Tagand Isabelle : 0450731418. Warning: this route is subject to the conditions encountered in the mid-mountain region and should only be undertaken with full knowledge of the facts (snow cover can be very heavy and conditions difficult in bad weather). Numerous walks in the mountain pastures and mountain hikes from the refuge: Pointe d'Autigny, Mont Jorat, Mont Chauffé, Col d'Ubine, Pointe de Lachau, Pas de la Bosse, Cornettes de Bise, mountain bike trails, visits to the Abondance Valley and its villages.
