A superb hike on the border between the Vallée d'Aulps and the Vallée d'Abondance, in the heart of the green alpine pastures of Saint Jean d'Aulps and its old alpine chalets, architectural witnesses to the traditions of yesteryear. Enjoy the freshness of the small Lac de Damoz des Moulins at the foot of the Pic de La Corne and the superb view of Mont Blanc and the Roc d'Enfer from the Brion mountain pasture.

Take the Roc d'Enfer gondola up to the Graydon mountain pasture and chapel. You'll then travel through peaceful surroundings, past gentian trees and grazing cows, against a backdrop of Mont Blanc... The Alpage de Graydon lies at the foot of the majestic Roc d'Enfer, with cows and goats grazing peacefully on the rich grass around the small chapel surrounded by a magnificent combe.

Head for Graydon meadows and chapel by taking the St Jean Station cable car. Then stroll through unspoilt and protected countryside, from forests to Alpine meadows.

Discover the picturesque hamlets and villages of the Vallée d'Aulps: a hike where nature and culture intermingle along the way. Our cultural heritage, surrounded by a remarkable natural environment, will hold no secrets for you! Along the way, discover the villages of Seytroux, Le Biot, La Baume, the Jotty dam and the superb Mont Ouzon. A trail partly in the forest, where you can enjoy the natural coolness of summer. This route crosses the main road twice. At these points, you should be very careful before crossing and walk faster as you do not have the priority. The route is not suitable for pushchairs and we do not recommend it for young children.

Set off to explore the valley's old hamlets and picturesque villages on this walk, a MTB ride marrying nature and culture. At the end of your journey you'll be an expert on the valley's cultural heritage and natural surroundings!

This is a superb hike with a beautiful view of Saint-Jean-d'Aulps and the Roc d'Enfer. When the sky isn't too overcast, you can admire the majestic Mont Blanc in the distance! The ascent to La Chaux is on a carriage road in a forest setting. It's a continuous climb, with no flat surface for a break before the destination. It's best to do it in one go! The views open up as you go along. At last, you'll find a quiet grassy area in the sun, with even a picnic table! From here, you can enjoy views of the surrounding peaks: Roc d'Enfer, Mont Blanc, Pic de la Corne, Roc de Tavaneuse...

Superb hike to the Pointe de la Croix. On the program: superb views of Roc d'Enfer, Mont Blanc, Dents du Midi, Cornettes de Bise, Mont de Grange, Dent d'Oche, Pic de la Corne... It's a summit that has to be earned. The climb from La Chaux is steep. The route takes you on a loop that crosses 3 key axes: la Chaux, la Pointe de la Croix and the Col de l'Ecuelle. The views are well worth the trip to the top. From the Pointe de Cercle (Pointe de la Croix's little sister), you'll overlook the Abondance valley, with views stretching as far as Lake Geneva to the north and the Dents du Midi to the east. The route is not particularly technically demanding, nor is it dangerous, but you'll need good legs. You will reach a ridge from the Pointe de Cercle, though the path is well away from the cliff, so it's best to avoid getting too close. If you like to take your time, consider the route over the course of the day: set off in the late morning to arrive at lunchtime at La Chaux (one hour from the start). Enjoy your picnic in the sunshine with a superb view over the Vallée d'Aulps, with Mont Blanc and the Roc d'Enfer in the background. Take your time and head off in the direction of Pointe de la Croix. Here, you'll enjoy some of the best views of the entire route. After a well-deserved break (a little more shade this time), head back down to the Col de l'Ecuelle and then to the parking lot. Along the way, you'll see some charming chalets, full of authenticity.

Everyone who’s tackled this short climb is of the same opinion: it’s a tough one! After passing the chalets at Côte-d'Arbroz village, you’ll continue pedalling in perfect peace, taking in open and wooded sections. Gradient: 8.5%

A beautiful hike awaits you at the foot of the majestic Roc d'Enfer. The trail crosses vast alpine meadows dotted with flowers of a thousand colors. Grazing cows and traditional chalets punctuate the path up to the Col Ratti, the highest point offering sublime panoramic views of Mont-Blanc and the Aravis mountains. Don't be surprised if you spot a herd of chamois: they abound in this Natura 2000 area.

Founded in about 1095 by monks that came from the Molesne abbey in Burgundy, the abbey affiliated itself to the Cistercians in 1136 after which it became one of the most powerful in medieval Savoie due its income from property rights. A crossroads for the great spiritual ideas of the late 11th century, a meeting place for saints and a crucible for monastic reform, it was from the abbey of Molesme in Burgundy that a group of monks set off around 1094. Their destination? A small possession of the Counts of Savoy: the Vallée d'Aulps (Vallée des Alpages in Latin), with the aim of founding a monastery in line with their spiritual ideal: "a laboratory of monasticism", as it were, more clearly oriented towards eremitism than cenobitism. Thanks to numerous land donations, the monastery became one of the most powerful in medieval Savoy. Since summer 2007, the restored and transformed former monastic farmhouse has been home to an interpretation center. A remarkable scenography, completely renovated in November 2020, allows visitors to discover in a simple and entertaining way the daily life of monks in the Middle Ages, their functions within the community, the relationship between Aulps Abbey and Savoie, the surprising story of its destruction and the secrets of medicinal plants.

A renovated former monastic farm housing an interpretation centre with 650m² of exhibition space: displays on the monks’ daily life; links between the Abbaye d’Aulps and the Savoie; the unexpected story of its final destruction; and medicinal plants The Aulps Abbey was founded at the end of the 11th century in the heart of the Chablais pre-Alps, at an altitude of 800m. Within two hours' walk from Mont d'Evian hamlet (above Saint Jean d'Aulps), Lake Damoz des Moulins stretches to the foot of the Pic de la Corne mountain in a stunning lush setting.

At the foot of the Roc d'Enfer mountains, this hollow coomb is a huge Alpine pasture, surrounded by stunning, steep cliffs. The Graydon chapel and surrounding chalets offer a genuine and peaceful glimpse of a mountain way of life. Located at 1340m and rising to 2243m, the Graydon meadows are easily accessible by car in summer from Essert-Romand. Graydon is the starting point for many walks including the Roc d'Enfer tour, a delightful route that winds through Alpine meadows, offering a glimpse of marmottes and deer. This circuit has superb panoramas of the Aravis mountains, the Roc d'Enfer and the Mt Blanc range. Visitors who wish to learn more about the chapel are invited to go in. It dates from the 19th century but was recently restored, providing a place to sit quietly and recharge your batteries. It hosts several services throughout the warmer months.

At the heart of the alpine Graydon pasture, under the hardened eye of the majestic roc d’enfer, you find the little Graydon chapel. It was built in 1859 and then entirely renovated in 2009 The Graydon chapel constructed in 1859, allowed for the parishes of ST Jean d’Aulps and that of Essert Romand, separated a few years earlier to keep a certain link between them. It was in 1902 that the Swiss architect, Goss, constructed the entrance porche where two Capitals where added that came from the Aulps Abbey. The chapel in consecrated to the immaculate conception is today a place of celebrations and all through the summer season the parish celebrates a mass every Wednesday You can get there from Essert Romand or from the little hamlet called Valette at St Jean d’Aulps

Mont Brion is located at (1901m), it offers 2 climbing routes and a very challenging traverse for experienced hikers.

The Roc de Tavaneuse overlooks the eponymous lake and is part of the magnificent landscape of the Abondance valley. It can be seen from the heart of the village of Abondance, which it makes glow on sunny days. Located at 2156m, the Roc de Tavaneuse is accessible from the lake of Tavaneuse on the Abondance side, the chalets of Lens on the Vallée d'Aulps side and from the Savolaire passage. Enjoy a wonderful view of Mont Blanc from the summit.

Located at 1805 m altitude in Abondance, at the foot of the cliffs of the small Piron point, between scree slopes and alpine meadows, the Tavaneuse lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in the Chablais. The access is sporty but the clarity of its waters is worth the diversions! The ascent to the lake, of average difficulty, is done from the Prétairié car park or from the Plagnes lake via the Ardens chalets. The more athletic can reach the Roc de Tavaneuse (2156 m). Dry fly fishing is also practiced here at daybreak. Several hiking trails invite you to discover this mountain lake.

The Pointe des Follys (1674m) is accessible to hikers in summer and in winter to skiers and snowshoers, it offers a view of the Vallée d'Abondance, Lake Geneva and the Dents du Midi.

This stunning lake - known also as the emerald green lake - sits quietly at the foot of immense cliffs and is a favourite with children and adults thanks to the idyllic vision it offers and the feeling of calm it evokes. Lake Montriond was created after a part of the Nantaux mountain fell away to the north-west. Although it is unclear when this landslide happened - estimates vary from 300 to 4500 years ago!) the landslide created a natural dam in the existing river which became the lake we see today. The water level was nonetheless prone to serious fluctations and a huge project to rectify this was completed in 1990 thanks to Montriond town hall. Since then the tourist industry has flourished... Montriond Lake is a huge outdoor playground with something for everyone...it includes a swimming area that's suitable for even very young swimmers, while other visitors can try pony riding, canoeing, paddle or mini-golf. Older children and adults also enjoy walking around the lake to take in the intoxicating beauty of it all... The Lake is also a jewel of a find for anglers, with its healthy stock of fario trout and rainbow trout, char and tiddlers! A fishing licence is required so enthusiasts must wait until the snow has melted before they can start to uncover the riches that lie beneath the surface... In figures, Montriond Lake is 33 hectares in size, or 25000 to 35000m2 depnding on the water level. Lake Montriond is a Chablais UNESCO Global Geopark Key Site. As you walk around Montriond lake you will discover the glacial history of the valley, the Sarde land registry and also the tale of the extravagant Baron de l'Espée...

At the foot of the Roc d'Enfer mountain, in beautiful Graydon hamlet, come and taste our famous potato fritters and Savoyard specialities: tartiflette, cheese fondue, blueberry tart, ice cream, etc..
