- Take sufficient food and water with you. Mountain sports require a lot of energy
Departure: Tourist Office of Saint Jean d'Aulps. Follow the RD 902 towards Morzine.
(1) Just before the campsite, take the road that descends to the right towards Sous Saint Jean, crossing the bridge over the Dranse de Morzine.
(2) Turn right towards the hamlet of La Moussière, passing by the Ranch des Portes du Soleil.
(3) You have a choice of two paths. Take the one on the left, which climbs more steeply and is further from the river.
(4) At the end of the trail, turn left onto the road that climbs uphill. Then turn right at the new intersection before turning left again a few metres further on. The route then crosses the hamlet of Solfélery via a road that quickly turns into a trail.
A few metres further on, you will come to another intersection. This time, turn right.
A few metres further on, at the exit of the hamlet, head towards Le Biot. The route then turns left and crosses the hamlet of Solfélery via a road that quickly turns into a path.
(5) Pass under the Tassonnière bridge and then take the path on the left that climbs back up towards the road, towards the bridge.
(6) When you reach the Tassonnière bridge, head towards Bas Thex and Le Biot. The walk takes you over the bridge and across the RD 902 road before taking the small road that climbs towards Bas Thex. Cross the RD 902 with great caution and at a brisk pace (this is a very busy road where traffic tends to travel at high speed).
(7) When you reach the Bas Thex chapel, take the path on the right towards Saint-Jean-d'Aulps. After a 15-minute walk, the Abbaye d'Aulps and its Discovery Centre come into view.
(8) After passing the Abbaye d'Aulps, continue along the road that leads to the centre of Saint-Jean-d'Aulps via the hamlet of L'Abbaye and rejoin the departmental road.
Arrival: Continue along the departmental road towards Morzine until you reach the Tourist Office.
Alternative route: cross the hamlet of Bas Thex to join the forest path that leads to the village of Le Biot, climb for 10 minutes to reach the Oratory of Saint-Guérin. Return by the same route.
