At the fork in the trail located 10 minutes from the Refuge de la Valletta, turn off to the left to access the refuge. Then go down heading southwards and join the Chalet des Nants. Follow “Les Prioux 1 h”. Cross the Nant stream and enter the alder forest (plant formation with green alders). Follow on your right the paved road to join the GR©55 at the hamlet of Prioux. Follow the GR©55 on the left bank of the Doron de Chavière, then on the right bank, up to your starting point via the forest."

Variation: you can take the Mont Bochor cable-car and get to the Refuge des Barmettes by following a terraced path After the Refuge des Barmettes, cross the Pont de la Glière and stay on the stone-lined path. Just before the ""Chalets de la Glière"", turn right (junction at 2,050 m in altitude), following the direction of ""L´Arcelin 1h00"". Climb in the direction of the Col du Moriond and descend in the direction of the ruins of the Chalet Inférieur de l´Arcelin. At this level, climb back to the ""Col de la Vanoise"" indicated at 1h00. At the Refuge du Col de la Vanoise, take the path on the right in the direction of the Refuge “d´Entre-Deux-Eaux 2h00” and continue on until Lac Rond. To return, turn around to the Col de la Vanoise. Take the trail in the direction of the Refuge des Barmettes (1h15) following the GR®55 north and leaving Lac Long on the right. Cross the Lac des Vaches by the stone ford and descend to the village of Pralognan via the GR®55 passing through the hamlets of Fontanettes and Bieux. "

After 450 m of downhill ascents, at the first fork in the path, take the left path; follow the direction for “Mont Chevrier / Pralognan-la-Vanoise”. After 300 m of downhill ascents, at the intersection of the Touros wood, take the path that gœs south. After 250 m of a ""downhill flat"" path, take the path that gœs flat at this intersection. After about 300 m, cross the Vuzelle stream. 150 m after this stream, take the intersection in the clearing, the path on the left that gœs up (390 m) to the crest of Mount Chevrier. At the 1st intersection, take the lower trail. At the 2nd intersection, take the trail on the left and follow the direction of ""Pralognan-la-Vanoise”. At the next 2 intersections, follow the branch on the left. At the next intersection, take the trail on the right that gœs down. After the thalweg of the Combe des Pariettes, take the trail that gœs down the combe. After walking for about 600 m, take the paved road to Pralognan village centre."

This Vanoise National Park mountain hut is located right below the famous Vanoise glaciers. The starting point for climbing the Dôme de Chasseforêt, the hut welcomes mountaineers, hikers on the loop trail circumnavigating the glaciers, and families who would like to spend the night in a typical mountain hut. During the full-service period when the hut manager is present: there is an area available offering the option to prepare your own meals. During the self-service period when the hut manager is absent, the hut is open and offers: a dormitory, covers, means for heating, a stove and dishes.

At an altitude of 1725 metres, the Prioux plateau is a rare site at the gateway to the Vanoise National Park. The Doron de Chavière that runs through it is populated by fario trout, rainbow trout and brook salmon. - "Catch and release" (no-kill) The course is 1,450 meters long. Specific regulations: natural bait is prohibited; only artificial lures, artificial flies, and synthetic imitation baits are permitted. One barbless hook or artificial fly is permitted. Any fish caught must be returned alive immediately. A fishing license is required for fishing. A required stop when hiking the loop to circumnavigate the Vanoise Glaciers, Col de la Vanoise Pass, along the legendary GR55 trail, is also the most visited location in the Vanoise range, and rightly so. On a secluded terrace overlooking the Champagny le Haut valley, the Plan des Gouilles refuge welcomes mountaineers (heading for the Grand Bec), hikers (on the Vallaisonnay and Grande Casse tours) and passing guests for the night or just for the day. Perched at an altitude of 2,347 metres at the foot of the Grand Bec glaciers, the refuge can be reached in 2½ hours on foot from the Bois car park in Champagny-le-Haut, and via several hiking trails that cross the Vanoise. The refuge has 40 beds (3 dormitories). You can choose between half-board or using the picnic area. It is staffed from June to mid-September and open unstaffed the rest of the year. During the day, à la carte dining is available. This refuge of the Vanoise National Park is on the GR5, not far from the glacier of the same name. This refuge offers a superb unobstructed view from the roof terrace. In the heart of the Vanoise National Park, bivouacs are only permitted during the summer months on dedicated sites in the immediate vicinity of the refuge, during the guarding period. In the olden days, when our ancestors had to cross the mountain ravines, they used ropes on which makeshift gondolas were pulled along, carrying timber or livestock. This system was the precursor to our modern-day cable car! And this is how, in 1951, construction began on the very first service cable car for transporting tools and materials up to Mont Bochor. Timber posts supported the cables on which the cable car would travel. In 1952, the cable car was finally inaugurated after a challenging construction period, and its landmark maiden flight as it were took place that 31 December. Barioz is one of the 7 hamlets of Pralognan-la-Vanoise. Its name comes from the Latin “barium”, meaning barrier and, by extension, customs barrier. The chapel of Notre-Dame du Barioz or Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs was erected by the Blanc family in the 18th century, a wealthy landowner and merchant of the town. This chapel has some unique peculiarities: cellars under the chapel belonging to the town of Planay and to the Gilles family (Alpage de Ritort). The saints represented in the building bear the name of the five sons of the founding benefactor, Antoine Blanc.
