Col de la Vanoise Hut (FFCAM-French Alpine Club)
Description
A required stop when hiking the loop to circumnavigate the Vanoise Glaciers, Col de la Vanoise Pass, along the legendary GR55 trail, is also the most visited location in the Vanoise range, and rightly so.
A hut dating from 1902, completely renovated in 2013 and 2018, located on the Col de la Vanoise, a high place of passage, surrounded by prestigious peaks such as the Grande Casse, the Glières, the Aiguille de la Vanoise and the Réchasse. Marmots, Ibex and Chamois are very close.

Information for when the hut is unstaffed: to improve the conditions at the hut, and to avoid overcrowding, you now need to make a reservation it you would like to spend the night at the Col de la Vanoise Hut. Proof of your reservation will be sent to you.

Hiking time from the closest parking lot: 2.5hrs to 3hrs.
Access possible via the Mont Bochor aerial tram, the Genépi chairlift in both summer and winter.
Access possible via hiking trail, snowshoes, ski touring, and a trailrider single-tire wheelchair.

Tips
Hut located on the GR55 trail loop that circumnavigates the Vanoise Glaciers.
Hut open and staffed from mid-March to early May, reservation required.
Reception complements
Dogs are not allowed in Vanoise National Park, even on a leash.
Meals served all-season long: hearty mountain-style meal, vegetable soup, salad, mountain-style omelet, fromage blanc, blueberry pie. Organic beer and beer on tap.
Tent camping capacity: 20 people in 15 tents. Only during the summer season when the hut is open and staffed. Reservation required as well as a €5 fee per person.
