At the limit of the plain and the mountain, discover the peaceful village of Iholdy. The historical heritage is rich with the manor of Elizabelar or the castle of Olce. This beautiful hike leads to the picturesque abandoned village of Aritzakun. Wedged between the impressive cliffs of Ixusi and the summit of Irubelakasko, this village had about 35 occupied houses in the 1950s. It is especially since the 80s that it was deserted. Today, the village remains very well maintained. Some houses still welcome inhabitants during the summer season to spend a few days of vacation. The hiker will find peace and relaxation in a picturesque setting.

Modified itinerary : Distance 8.8 km - Elevation gain: 550 m - At the foot of the Iparla ridges, this route offers the hiker beautiful scenery. The ascent of the Harriondo massif overlooks the Baztan valley on one side and the entrance to the Nive des Aldudes valley on the other. At the highest point of the hike, flocks of manex (a local breed of sheep) will certainly be present to enhance the walk amidst the ruins of the bordes, witnesses of a pastoral activity that has lasted through the ages. During the return to the village of Bidarray, the hiker will be able to benefit from the crossing of a forest to discover some beautiful specimens of oaks tauzins, species little represented in France.

Magnificent hike along a line of ridges between the Nive and Bastan valleys. Choose a dry and clear weather to enjoy the panorama up to the Pic du Midi de Bigorre and to progress in safety along vertiginous peaks and on very steep grassy slopes. Mountain feet required.

This itinerary allows the hiker to discover the southern side of the Baigura. From the Aldudes valley to the Laka valley, from La Rhune to the first high peaks of Bearn, such as the Pic d'Anie, among others, this round trip reveals some very beautiful landscapes. The first easily accessible summit around Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, the Arradoy peak offers a pleasant and particularly shaded ascent. Starting from a panoramic picnic area, the itinerary, mainly forested, begins on the southern slope of the peak and offers a remarkable view of Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port and its surrounding mountains. The red soil, made up of ferruginous sandstone, evokes one of the terroirs of the Irouléguy wine. Although not very visible in this forest environment, the slopes of Arradoy are surrounded, a little lower down, by terraced vineyards. On the northern slope, the Chemin du Génie begins.
