An educational trail runs all the way around the pond. Leaving the pond, after passing through a wood, you follow a small path lined with drystone walls, in the midst of nature once again in its wild state. All along the way, you can admire century-old oak and beech trees, as well as beautiful views over the Cher valley and Dontreix...

Start : Courdemanges Marking : Yellow 1. Head for Dontreix, turn right at the 1st crossroads, then take the 1st path on the right. 2. When you reach the road, turn right towards Courdemanges. 3. At the 1st crossroads, turn right through the village to the well, turn left and then immediately right. 4.Before reaching Valette, turn right towards the Drouille forest. 5.Continue straight ahead through the woods until you come to a path on the right which leads to the forest track. 6.Follow the track to the right to reach the starting point.

This small church, situated on a promontory, has a chevet characteristic of the Auvergne Romanesque. Adjacent to the church, the "snail shell" cemetery, at the top of the hillock, is an original feature of this site. It was built in 1147. Behind the church, one can still see the ruins of the castle (12th-13th century). Guillaume de Beaufort donated his right of sacristy on this church to the cathedral chapter of Clermont-Ferrand when he left for the crusades. This building presents a certain homogeneity of architecture although it was built in several stages. This is a reconstruction of everyday life in the Combrailles at the beginning of the 20th century. Costumes, school, old trades, are all on display in traditional houses restored for the purpose. An arrowed pathway allows you to discover people and tools of another era. As you walk around the village you will come accross old farm equipment and characters from a different era as wezll as the reconstruction of a school from yesteryear , includingl documents of the time. Extend the visit with a stroll along the Sioule and Chancelade rivers, to Rochecivière.

The 385-hectare dam lake, which stretches over more than 8 km, is popular with fishermen, hikers and heritage enthusiasts. A discovery circuit proposed by the Combrailles Tourist Office ensures that you don't miss out on any of the lake's treasures.

Not to be missed in the church. The monumental replicated organ of Arnstadt on which J S Bach played. Inaugaurated in 2004, visits are held in the summer and during the internationally renowned festival 'Bach in Combrailles' held in the second week of August. The church dates back to the 19th century. It owes its fame to "The Bach Organ", a replica of the organ in Arnstadt in Thuringia (Germany), one of the few Baroque organs of which Bach was the first owner at the age of 18. Inaugurated in 2004, tours of the organ are organised in July and August. The "Bach in Combrailles" Festival (second week of August) is an opportunity to introduce the music of Bach to the inhabitants of Combrailles and to visitors.
