Starting from Barfleur, a picturesque fishing and yachting port, with its granite houses, you will follow the coastline to reach Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue. Take the time to take a break in this pretty town with its fishing and yachting port, its Tatihou Island and Vauban Towers classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The stage ends in Montebourg which will be, in June 1944, the place of hard fighting from the first days of the battle of Normandy. To see, its church and the Abbey Notre-Dame-de-l'étoile.

Starting at Gatteville lighthouse, this 19 km stage takes you to Cap Lévi Fort. In Gatteville, climb the 365 steps of this stone giant before heading off on your hike. From the top, the sea in all its shades of blue is breathtaking. These amazing views will quickly help you to recover from the climb! From the lighthouse, walk in the sand past pretty Roubary inlet, with its little boats at anchor, before carrying on to Gattemare bay. From here, the sea and the marshes alternate on each side of the path: a blend of fascinating landscapes that are a haven for birds. If you’re lucky, you might see some harbour seals enjoying the water! Further on, you’ll come to another unspoilt setting, the wetlands in Vrasville. This natural site is part of the Natura 2000 network, which works to protect the environment. Next, you’ll reach the Pointe de la Loge in Cosqueville and the pretty beach of La Saline. From here, looking out to sea, you get a feeling of complete freedom! Enjoy the small unspoilt coves that dot the coastline all the way to your destination. La Mondrée bay and its lovely beach are worth a stop: you might even see some swans there. After the sand and pebble beaches, head through the dunes for a few kilometres, where you’ll see horses grazing and marram grasses blowing in the wind. Carry on to Cap Lévi and its Napoleonic fort, a former military compound that’s been turned into a gîte. You’ve arrived at your destination! Now sit back and enjoy the gorgeous views of the rugged coastline and the crystal-clear waters that will tempt you in for a swim. This stage has no particular difficulties, except that you’ll walk in the sand for a few kilometres. This stage can be done in the other direction.

Composed mainly of dirt roads, this route, with its tormented relief, is particularly physical. It offers, at the bend of some hunts or paths, beautiful viewpoints on the landscapes of the Val de Saire. At Le Vast, you can see an old presbytery, the town hall, the Notre-Dame Church, the Calvary of the Pergée and the bridge and wash-house on the Saire. You can also taste the famous brioche du Vast.

Remarkable site, La Pernelle (altitude 123m) offers one of the most beautiful views of the Val de Saire from the Gatteville Lighthouse to the Pointe du Hoc via the Vauban towers in the bay of Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue.

The circuit is sporty and aimed at confirmed mountain bikers. It runs through woods and bocage. From the site of La Pernelle, you will discover the market gardening which makes the richness of this region, while in the distance you can see the coast, off Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue, the Tatihou Island.

Leave the port of Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue to go around the Cul de Loup cove, known for its oyster farms. Once past Morsalines, the route goes slightly into the interior of the Marais du Cotentin to find the coastline again after a few kilometres. The arrival is then in Quinéville, on the banks of the meandering Sinope.

The Gîte du Petit Maine is located in a quiet housing estate in the market town of Pontmain, close to the basilica and shops. The ground floor comprises a fully-equipped kitchen (oven, fridge, dishwasher, gas hob, toaster, kettle and microwave), a dining room with wood-burning stove and a sitting area. Bathroom with bath and shower and separate toilet. One bedroom with a double bed and another bedroom with two single beds, both on the ground floor. Outside, a south-facing enclosed garden. The Montfarville Church was built in 1763 of local white granite, and contains exceptional works of art, notably the virgin with child in multicoloured stone, as well as four large wooden statues. The vault and the chancel were decorated in 1879 by the painter from Réville, Guillaume Fouace. In two years, Fouace painted 19 canvasses depicting scenes from the life of Christ. These paintings are listed as historical monuments.

The "Blankenese" battery at Néville-sur-Mer is located to the north-east of the Cotentin peninsula. This battery belonged to the Kriegsmarine and was equipped with 4 British Vickers 94 mm M/39 anti-aircraft guns in Casemates type 1xM271 2xM158 1xSK. She was scuttled on the morning of June 18, 1944 by the sailors occupying her in application of the "Henrich" plan, which was launched on the same day and ordered the withdrawal to the "Festung" Cherbourg.
